Megabits of Gaming writes: "Sonic is undoubtedly a legend but he’s really running out of ideas now. He’s 20 years old, living in the past, and attempting to recapture his youth. Whilst his peers have innovated, he’s repeated and recycled."

Sonic X Shadow Generations is a remaster of Sonic Generations released in 2011. The real question is, does the remaster live up to the hype of the original?

Sonic the Hedgehog has a long and turbulent history in videogames, but which are the best games featuring the blue bur?
Generations over Mania? Please… Generations doesnt have any new ideas in the levels/bosses.
Also a top 7 of Sonic games shouldn’t have any 3D crap and contain at least one of the 8-bit titles.
Sonic CD getting snubbed is weird. Number 1 is definitely interchangable between Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
Top 7 for me
7 cd
6 mania
5 Frontiers
4 sonic 3
3 sonic 1
2 sonic and knuckles
1 sonic 2
Sometimes I feel like the Sonic Advanced games just didn’t exist with how much it’s always forgotten 😭

The divide between both iterations of Sonic is now reaching spin-off territory, and the way Sega is handling it is both a blessing and a curse.
... great 2d platformers will always find an audience.
The problem is Sega, who are too incompetent to just give the fans what they want most of the time.
it looks as if sonic is headed in the right direction after a very long and bumpy road. sonic colors was a fantastic, well built game and generations is looking great so far. hopefully sega can keep it up.
I really enjoyed Sonic Colours. A simple concept, just enough tweaks to keep things fresh but no outsized gameplay concepts unnecessarily shoehorned in (Werehogs? Really?). It got it just right: dizzying speed and challenging platforming and no twonking about.
Of course, proper platform games are all about precise timing and dexterity, and are very hard because of it. That doesn't fit all that neatly with modern games, which are more about giving gamers a sense of progression from start to finish, and are a a little less punishing because of it.
Wot makes these type games so fun is the 2d side scrolling, but once you have lame fools tryn to reinvent and making it `3d`then it fails
If they would have just kept sonic in 2d/3d.he would have been okay, now has just played out. Mario still rocks tho
Sega thinks they can keep playing on people's nostalgia for their new sonic games, and obviously it hasn't been working. IMO, the last Sonic games that were really good, were Sonic Adventure 1 and 2. If they want to make a truly modern Sonic game, they should make SA3, and just keep the main characters (Sonic, Tails, Knux)
And for god's sake Sega, take some time to develop your games. There's a fundamental difference between the old Sonic Team from the new, and it's that they now try to chuck out a new Sonic game every single year. Why don't you give Sonic more time and throw out VF5:Final Showdown for consoles in the wait?
