SSD Performance on PS3

We've seen people toy around with SSD drives on the PS3, but until now, high performance drives have been prohibitively expensive. While still more expensive than mechanical drives, newer SSDs are faster and cheaper than ever.

This article explores the performance impact of OCZ's mainstream Sandforce based SSD, the Agility 3, when installed in a PS3. Tests include PSN game installation, Blu-Ray game installation, and file management. The results are sometimes surprising!

Prices still a touch high but i can see these drives being the norm for the hd consoles of the future

lowlight5350d ago

If anything, they'll come pre-equipped with some NAND flash I think

If you are going to buy a drive for PS3. You better getting a hybrid drive like.

Seagate 500GB Momentus XT 2.5" Hybrid SSD/HDD only £85

Damn, and what about TRIM, Optimization of read/write operation on sectors? Author didnt mention about those TWO most important things...

Those disk as a whole idea are different, still i think WD BLACK series is best for slims...

At first I was like, No Code Veronica on the list!? But then I seen Mainline. The list checks out, but I would personally put 2 over 4.

KwietStorm_BLM1d 15h ago

I'll take 2 over 4 also. And even without a number, I don't see how Code Veronica, my other favorite in the franchise, isn't mainline when it's the actual sequel to RE2.

Rebel_Scum1d 18h ago

The original RE was the best. Its not on the list which makes no sense.

The remake of it was alright but should be higher on this list.

The original RE smokes VII and Village, come on.

I would be interested in a Saints Row 2 Remake.

Alos882d ago

I would agree... if the old Volition was still around to do it.

I just started this game last night, just the player creation had me upset. You choose male but they stand like a female. Eyebrows are all effeminate, face, and verything seems to be modeled after a female with a thin male overlay.

I only played the opening and didn’t even complete that before I turned the game off. I will likely go back and try it again, but a very weird first impression.

Huey_My_D_Long2d ago

You sound super weak to be upset by a character creator ngl

ChunkyMonk2d ago

welcome to your average n4g daily user lol

chicken_in_the_corn2d ago

I'm not surprised after the backlash and hatred the last one got.

1nsomniac2d ago

The franchise has been complete utter garbage for almost 20 years. The first one was the only decent game of the lot of them.

Huey_My_D_Long2d ago

OMG Thank you! Never understood how people raved about Saints Row like it was GOATED.
Honestly Janky Generic feeling titles with Humor that tried to way too hard. People criticize Borderlands for its humor, but holy hell, still leagues better than any SR.

Kinda dumb they asked for his pitch then ghosted him, the concept sounded dope

The second part of GTA BOOM's interview with Obbe Vermeij where they turn from origin stories to craft. Specifically, how early GTA games created the illusion of life, and why that illusion still matters more than brute-force simulation.
