Looks good. Looks WAAAAYYYYY better on my PC though. : ) But then again I build a rig for $1200 it better look better on my PC!

kingboy6694d ago

Advertise the best version just before release yah!

Fighter6694d ago

The way things are going this year for the PS3 I pretty much doubt the PS3 will get the better version. All multi platform games seem to be better on the 360 this year since the 360 was the lead platform. I hope the PS3 is the better version or at least equal to the 360 version. At least there will be free online.

It will either be this game or UT III for my purchase because I don't want so many shooters. I think UT III will be worth the wait but if it's delayed till next year then COD 4 will be my choice for this year.

ultraviolentz6694d ago

they built all versions simultaneously

Violater6694d ago

I really wish u guys would wait till all the versions are released and compared.
Or this whole better version thing could turn into a hearty serving of crow.
No doubt the screens look amazing, I'm just saying lets not get too happy just yet.

Silvanos6694d ago

There was no lead platform they built them both from the ground up.

I'm impressed by infinity ward more than anything at how they can make a game like this run at 60FPS at 720p. Development issues? Doesn't look like it.

mighty_douche6694d ago

it runs at 1080p on the playstation.

OpiZA6694d ago

That's incorrect.

Both games run at native 720p and upscale to 1080p (if you so desire)

Gorgeous looking game, well done IW :)

mighty_douche6694d ago

please explain, because the ps3 doesnt upscale to 1080p (as far as i know) yet it clearly states 1080p on the back of the box?

EDF 20176694d ago

Is not native 1080p it is like 1440 X 920 or something like that then upscaled to 1920 X 1080, so yeah the PS3 can upscale.

6wl6694d ago (Edited 6694d ago )

Its got a hardware scaler for 1280*1080 to scale to 1920*1080.

Actually, digging about (found online)..
"rendering modes also supported now include 1280x1080, 1440x1080 and 1600x1080. These modes, similar to 960x1080, are capable of being upscaled by the hardware into 1080p/i."

Basically, a horizontal only scaler, which is different to the Xboxs one which can scale in both horizontal and vertical

jackdoe6694d ago

It is software upscaling for the PS3, hardware/software for the 360. Then again, I'm pretty sure all 360 games put 1080p on the back of the box because of hardware upscaling, which is kind of cheating.

Nostradavis6694d ago

because they have dedicated teams working on each version...no porting going on over there, they committed to doing it right from day one.

NRG6694d ago (Edited 6694d ago )

Both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 can do upscaling. Choosing 1080p in the settings for both the PS3 and 360 is what the consoles will do it's best to upscale to if the games are not already 1080p.

It's a lot like resolutions on your computer. You can set your desktop to 1280x960 or whatever you wish, everyone knows that's separate once you jump into a game on your computer. You have to choose a resolution again within the game settings. On consoles, that option is removed. Developers choose FOR YOU what resolution the game is playing. The setting you choose inside console settings is only telling the system what your TV is capable of, and whether or not to go ahead and downscale/upscale the image, if or when needed.

Bolts6693d ago

PC games dont' scale, only consoles do that. All PC games display resolution natively, meaning if you set CoD 4 to 1080p, then it is rendering in full 1080p as long as your monitor support that resolution. If there is any scaling at all then PC games will only scale DOWN, they don't cheat and scale up like console games.

gamesblow6694d ago

Impressive... I wonder what version will look the best, though? I mean, these look awesome, but we all know the xbox 360 is much easier to dev for and thus the dev's probably took the easy route and made their versione ven better. Lazy Smacks!

aceitman6694d ago

that the ps3 is the best of the pc and the 360 .

demolitionX6694d ago

Infinity ward stated before that the PS3 version produced the most accurate colors of any other platform.

Bolts6693d ago

You guys need to put the crack pipe down. How the hell can PS3 version look better than the PC? Unless the PC version shipped with inferior textures then maybe thats a possibility but then it wouldn't make any sense would it?

This is a great reminder of how game sales have become more concentrated in a smaller number of games/series over time. In the PS1/PS2 era a game was a success if it sold a million or a few million copies. The GTA games (3/Vice City/San Andreas) were pretty big outliers in selling as much as they did during the PS2 era. So in the minds of a lot of gamers something like FF VII feels like it was as big of a PS1 game as God of War 2018 was for PS4, but in reality far fewer people bought it (though it has obviously reached additional people through remasters, etc.).

StoneTitan170d ago

this was alwalys the case and will always be the case. with everything

Zerobalance171d ago (Edited 171d ago )

What this says to me is, not many people are buying a PS to play PS exclusives. Like so many false narratives, like Xbox gamers don't buy games! It seems Playstation as a default system is a vanilla system to play call of duty, Minecraft, GTA games and a sports games.

badz149170d ago (Edited 170d ago )

if you look back into the PS history, it has always been the 3rd parties who sells the most games. it was just that the PS1 and PS2 were so dominant that many of those 3rd party games were exclusives. so, back during the PS1 and PS2 days, the strategy was "to sell as many consoles as possible in order to sell more 1st party exclusives" to ride on that wave. The strategy to push many 1st party exclusives to sell consoles only started with the PS3 when many of those prior 3rd party exclusives went multiplat but more accurately, it started with the PSP.

Sony saw with the PSP, which was being trounced in sales by the DS, that 3rd party exclusives are hard to come by if you're not dominating the market. So they started building more 1st party games and when the PS3 were facing difficulties in sales, they knew they had to rely on their own to differentiate the PS3 from the 360. So the strategy back then changed to "release more 1st party exclusives in order to sell more consoles".

the only manufacturer that is still consistently selling their hardware to play 1st party exclusives, is Nintendo, and that was because they gave up the armrace for power thus they can't rely on 3rd parties anymore as all multiplats play better on competing consoles. AND that's also why they are the most ominous in going after emulators and also patent trolling!

so, you're not wrong there, but not an "aha!" moment or anything. it has been this way since the last, at least, 15 years for Playstation.

Deathdeliverer170d ago

@zerobalance

So... what this tells you is that Call of duty, being the absolute check writer that it is, has been outsold by Last of us, God of war, 2 Spider man games..... Saying Playstation exclusives doesn't sell is like saying call of duty doesn't sell because they have outsold some of iterations. Does that make sense to you?

Will be interesting to see what sort of numbers GP users draw in come tomorrow. It is believed that this is one many have been waiting for.

thesoftware730585d ago

Darth,

That is not accurate; this game is old, and most people who want it have already bought it. You might get a small number of subs, but we will mostly see a good influx of players(not new subs) from people with Game Pass who will try it, which is what happened with D4.

CoD: BO 6 will be the test for actual sub numbers.

darthv72585d ago

That's fair... seeing as many have been saying they want CoD in GP. My comment was more of , now that its here... what can it do. Im sure there will be other titles in the franchise that will either entice or turn off different users.

Bathyj585d ago

No one's buying a console and signing up for a monthly bill just to get this game to avoid buying it. That's ridiculous. Besides everyone bagged the crap out of this on release for the 4 hour campaign.

andy85585d ago

Sweet. Never got round to it on release. I'll give the campaign a go

chicken_in_the_corn584d ago

Severly underrated game. Big improvement over 2.

Why MW 2019 is still the best looking Call of Duty to date

MW 2019 is five years old at this point and on previous gen hardware, but it is still the best looking Call of Duty game to date.

MW was an excellent videogame. They messed up Spec Ops big time, but aside from this it was a huge step in the right direction initially. Most notably, at launch it seemed to come from a very cohesive creative vision that was felt across gameplay, to story to art style/visual direction. It was also very notably written by prominent ex-Naughty Dog guys that quit almost immediately before release.

That COMPLETELY dissolved through post-launch content and the full pivot to a "cross-mode" narrative that completely obliterated the cohesion in overall story direction. Warzone then "became" the new face of Call of Duty and the franchise completely removed itself from anything remotely creatively "good". It is a pure money machine, so I kinda get why they're doing it....but I personally completely lost interest.

I would love to see Infinity Ward move off CoD and get to make their own product with full control. They clearly have some massive talent in their ranks but it's perverted by Activision's corporate interests.
