Beta's awesome apart from the freezes. Hope Uk patch comes soon.

GrieverSoul5442d ago (Edited 5442d ago )

All the people talking trash about a beta are really dumb. Its a BETA not a DEMO!!! A demo is a small part of a finished game that is free for consumers to try. A beta is a part of a work in progress. Its should have bugs and glitches in order to be ironed out before the finished product is released. People seem to forget that.

Does U3 beta have problems?! Yes! So go and report it to the developer to fix it. And whaddaya know, they are fixing it! ND just wants your feedback in order to give you a great finished product. Dont go trash talk them on twitter, please.

Soldierone5442d ago (Edited 5442d ago )

Those people can be broken down into groups too.

50 percent of the people failed to read that in the agreement or failed to look up what a beta is. Most think beta is a privileged early demo, thanks to certain companies making third party beta's seem that way.

30 percent only played it to say they played it early and probably already went back to another game.

20 percent are just xbots repeating all the "negative" comments to make the game look bad.

(granted these are just the complainers that are not bothering to help but to just complain. Those that have logical issues and report them to ND, thank you for having a brain)

mantisimo5442d ago

Same here downloaded the 1.01 patch in the uk but still freezing never mind superb when it's working.

ChrisGTR15442d ago (Edited 5442d ago )

Patched but still crashing ND.

Love the game, still some lag etc.

Keep working on it.

MidnytRain5442d ago

Keep in mind, I know next to nothing about game development, but I thought betas were meant to weed out issues, not smack us in the face with them. The whole dying and not respawning thing... How did that slip through? I would think they would have noticed that immediately. Or does that have to do with server load?

redDevil875442d ago

"I thought betas were meant to weed out issues."

This is exactly what's happening with the beta, people have already been reporting bugs and issues and ND are trying to weed them out. The beta will go through many phases and possibly patches to tr to sort out as many issues as possible.

"The whole dying and not respawning thing... How did that slip through?" Now they know about it they'll fix it.

MidnytRain5442d ago

But how did they not notice such a frequent issue internally?

Scary695442d ago

@MidnytRain

Creating a game does not take a few minutes and finding bugs does not take a few hours. Which is why it's a BETA. Releasing it to more individuals means more bugs can be found and fixed. Stop being such a whiny baby and chill they are fixing the issues slowly. Nobody is perfect so these things take time.

MidnytRain5441d ago (Edited 5441d ago )

I was asking a question, not being a baby. I just wanted to play the darn thing, which I couldn't. I can now, and while the new feel of the controls took some getting used to, I find it easy for me to pull of kills.

Prcko5442d ago

best mp game what i played in last couple of years.
stunning!

KingDustero5442d ago

When it works. I got it working last night and man the game is AMAZING. It is just like how Uncharted 2 was at launch, but taken to the next level.

A LOT of people are probably pissed right now, however once you guys experience the game without any issues you'll be hooked.

Ex-Naughty Dog Dev: Big Studios Are 'Forced' to Hire Like Factories

Former Naughty Dog artist Gabriel Betancourt explains why the "sweet spot" for game teams is under 200 people and how AAA "factories" kill creativity.

There’s definitely some truth to this. When teams get too large, coordination starts to outweigh creativity—layers of approval, risk aversion, and tight deadlines can turn bold ideas into “safe” ones. Keeping a team under ~200 people sounds ideal for maintaining clear communication and a shared vision. That said, massive AAA projects also come with huge technical demands and expectations, so scaling up isn’t always avoidable. The real challenge is figuring out how to keep that small-team creativity alive inside big studio structures.

DarXyde31d ago

More than that, it's logistically untenable. Inevitably, when teams get too large, how do you keep tabs on accountability? I suspect this massive team size is a consequence of the perfectionism streak Naughty Dog has.

I wish we could have so many people working on something and it turns out great because I'm all for collaboration in spirit - the problem is too many people as part of the larger team and smaller units. Suppose for example that you have too many people in the art department; you will very often come up against fiercely competing visions for how things should look. That competitive vision will cause friction between team members, team doesn't work as a unit, the back and forth can further delay parts that the other departments are waiting for, etc etc.

A 200-person team says, to me, that we need to scale back game development. Even if it means we go back to PS2 era costs and scale, why not? Those games are still great fun, the budgets were in check, and you could literally break the 200-man team into like 10 20-man teams working on different projects.

Neil Druckmann Reveals He’s Working on an Unannounced Game at Naughty Dog

Neil Druckmann, the creative director of The Last of Us, is working on a new, unannounced game at Naughty Dog.

RaidenBlack367d ago

I know they've expertise in third person games.
But given the lack there of in PS catalog, I'd want the other project to be a narrative first person ND game.
Look, there are lots of 3rd person Sony games in variety of flavors. And ND is already doing intergalactic. And since they're pretty expert at gameplay and tech wise in whatever they do, they can easily venture a new genre and ship a first person game/shooter.

VenomUK367d ago

Hopefully the lead character is a boss babe who will challenge the patriarchy.

RaidenBlack367d ago

So, judging from the dislikes, hardcore Sony fans here don't like first person games, anymore?

arkard367d ago

Let naughty dog do what they are great at, 3rd person games

crazyCoconuts367d ago

I don't really have a big opinion on first vs third person perspective. That's one of the least important things to me when rating how much I like a game

Flewid638367d ago

Sounds horrible. The downvotes are right on this one.

badz149367d ago

I actually hate 1st person. very hard to associate with a character you only see their hands most of the time.

OtterX367d ago

funny thing is with failures like Concord and soon to be Marathon, Factions could have been Sony's guaranteed huge success with a shooter! I don't ever play online shooters anymore, but I would have come out of shooter retirement for a new Factions game.

RaidenBlack366d ago (Edited 366d ago )

{ coming from the above thread }
So PS Fellas hate first person games now? (Understandable)
But praise Killzone and Resistance series, as well?
And hope for a return of first party first person games? ~ but from where? insomniac is deep in marvel territory, guerilla is deep in aloy territory ... suckerP are not as big to undertake that change + dedicated to Ghost series
The only options are ND and Santa Monica, who are rumoured to be involved in parallel projects. ~ so take your pick.
And the other 'new' studios at Sony are not that hot right now with knee deep in live service fiasco

...Way of the Warrior 2: Electric Boogaloo

Amplitude367d ago

It’d be cool if they bought the Parappa licence and made Parappa 3 that’d be the real good timeline

Wait I thought they cancelled a game? Or did they announce another project?

https://wccftech.com/naught...

pwnmaster3000368d ago (Edited 368d ago )

I’m assuming it’s the unannounced game in the title you posted.

“Naughty Dog Reportedly Canceled a Single Player Game This Year, But Another Unannounced Game Is Still in the Works“

Lightning77367d ago

OK I gotcha. That makes sense.

jznrpg367d ago

Devs cancel games all the time early stages if it doesn’t turn out the way they envisioned it. We just don’t hear about every one of them.

Notellin366d ago

Yeah only a narcissist like Druckmann would announce a game this early that has a 99% chance of being cancelled.

badz149367d ago

so a 2028 release at the soonest

Lightning77367d ago (Edited 367d ago )

Some speculate it could be Uncharted spin off. It's already 3 years in production so yeah 2028 maybe 2027 at the absolute earliest but most likely 28 release.

Also to add. kojimas next game that's not OD is said to be 5 to 6 years out for PS. That metal gear inspired game. These games are just too far off it seems.

pwnmaster3000368d ago

This dude is busy.
So who is running intergalactic?

Knushwood Butt368d ago

'We have several directors on Intergalactic. I work with two game directors: Matthew Gallant and Kurt Margenau, [and] I have a co-writer in Clair Carré.'

pwnmaster3000367d ago (Edited 367d ago )

Okay you got me, I skimmed the article and video .
Thanks lol

vTuro24367d ago

Cuckmann is going to be Naughty Dog's downfall.

367d ago
itBourne367d ago

Going to be? The damage is already done lol.

Flewid638367d ago

Sunlight is good for you, I promise. lol

vTuro24366d ago

Damage has been done but it's not too late yet if they dump him now. Probably won't happen though. It's sad, honestly. We'll see what happens after Intergalactic. That game is going to have a huge impact one way or another.

StormSnooper366d ago (Edited 366d ago )

Yes because they didn’t make some of the greatest games. Right, we all just agree to live in your fantasy from now on.

Flewid638367d ago

yall say that about ever developer and then they end up becoming more successful lol

mkis007367d ago

Downfall? If anything he is a huge reason they are on the map! A few apes don't like the material hasn't stopped his games from being massive hits.

DarXyde367d ago

I have grievances with Druckmann, but he does deserve some benefit of the doubt. He's been in crucial roles at the company through all of their successes.

Maybe wait and see?
