Catherine takes the stage as one of the few ‘adult-oriented’ puzzle-platformers on the market today for consoles. It is a beautifully animated, story driven game, centered around the life and relationships of Vincent. The game is almost divided evenly between two main styles of gameplay, with a story mode that takes place during Vincent’s conscious state, and a ‘nightmare world’ were most of the actual gameplay-mechanics are involved. The animation and characters in the story drive this game almost entirely and it’s haunting “Nightmare” overlay and tone cast a foreshadow of doom on Vincent and his decisions. It’s a very well crafted story device that breaks free of popular gameplay elements that are on the market today.
Plenty of unforgettable games have completely messed up their players throughout the years, all the way back from the PS1 days to the dark recesses of the modern internet.

Deadly Premonition is a pretty weird game, but all of these absolute oddities are even weirder.

Paul writes: "Games can be many different things to different people. The subject of this Looking Back article is something a little different however, as it deals with infidelity and the fallout that comes the way of the straying main character. Intrigued? Well, come with me to the weird world of 2011’s Catherine!"
Great in depth look at the game from a pretty neutral point of view.
