dude judging by your avatar your obviously excited for Uncharted, and rightly so, its shaping up to be an outstanding game.

but "surpass anything on PC".... i think all that excitment might be clouding your judgement.

I said the ANIMATION surpasses anything on PC in my humble opinion.

And you really have to study it to understand why. There's moments in that trailer where Drake is running, and guys are shooting at him - his face grimices, and he tries to dodge the bullets and reloading his gun - all in one movement.

Might not sound special, but without this layering, you have to wait until the end of the animation before it can transition to the next. No hyperbole here.

We have to be careful when comparing PC's to consoles, since the developement on each is vastly different. First off, there's no such thing as "a PC". There are millions, if not billions of them. Which means that devs can't squeeze out every last drop of power, obviously, since they have to focus on making a broader appeal. All PS3's 360's and Wii's are identical, and you'll see that even though their hardware may be limited, they can still battle it out with the monster rigs that are coughed forth from the labs of AlienWare and Dell. When you say "DX9 graphics" you have to remember that most of Uncharted is made of costumized shaders and effects. So even though the PS3 and 360 are incapable of delivering DX10, they can still be costumized to deliver something just as good, if not better, thus can DirectX not be included in this discussion. The PC devs won't bother tweaking an old version of some given hardware, since they can just rely on people upgrading their rigs, or keeping the settings down.

In short, in 2008, the PS3 and 360 will deliver much better quality than your current rig, given that the devs have found ways to work around the PS3 and 360 shortcomings. By that time you'll have to upgrade your rig again, to experience superior graphics. That's the difference.

I remember my old 300 Mhz IBM Aptiva with 64 MB RAM vs. the PS2. The PS2 had half the RAM, and the same processor (as far as mhz goes). Still, that PC would NEVER run MGS3 for example. It's a very similar situation today.

don't speak abount things, you don't understand.

dx9 or dx10 is only a software layer. so without this stuff you have access to all functions from the gpu. and therefore good developers can make dx10 effects through direct programming of the gpu. there is no need of something like dx,
shaders 3.0 lol.

of course I'm no sonyfan but I still can give credit where credit is due, this game looks great especially the environments although imo some areas for some reason dont look as good but maybe I'm just being nitpicky, because overall that was a cool trailer, STILL one things for sure this game isnt quite Gears of War level graphics (textures), but thats by no means a terrible thing, Allanwaker you need to take off the ps glasses and stop being such a hater, I will remind you that Halo3 while it looks great it still didn't surpass Gears either, and I'm a graphics whore myself but I'm still playing the hell out of Halo3 every chance I get.= Games need more than just graphics to have longevity they need to be great in all area's, otherwise it will just another OK game with nice graphics and forgotten in a month or two.

calm down there a lot of awesome looking games on the PS3..Ninja Gaiden Sigma, War Hawk, Motor Storm, Lair, Folklore, Heavenly Sword, and especially ratchet and clank tools of destruction..

But uncharted and unreal tournament will be the most stunning and incrediable lookin game on the ps3 this winter!! and then we got metal gear solid 4, Heavy Rain, Killzone 2, war devil littlebigplanet and infamous and etc..

Sorry but gears of war will look like crap..i seen the mass effect new pictures and look horrible a lot of jaggies..

I think that requires some comparison shots rather than a bold statement.

* Has usually no more than 2-5 characters on screen at once.

* Tiny, constrained rooms to limit the poly count/draw amounts.

* Outside areas that have usually no more than 20-30 foot draw distances.

* Backgrounds beyond the 20-30 foot draw are blurred out to hide rendering artifacts like the jaggies that plague the engine

THOSE are facts BUT Gears is still the best looking console game. Which is why it's used to compare graphics. Gears graphics are a 10, Uncharteds graphics are a 12. Just look at that trailer, WOW!!
