Electron Gun's Librarian questions whether or not quicktime events are really as necessary as they seem to appear, and whether there are common threads to their successful execution

It's important in life to maintain a broad palette when it comes to culture and the arts. Hideo Kojima agrees, as he continues to use video games like Death Stranding to introduce people to music and other elements they might not otherwise discover.

Mojang has partnered with Merlin Entertainments to build the world's first Minecraft theme park in the UK.

A three-episode live-action adaptation of the first two Yakuza video games will debut Tuesday, March 17 exclusively IGN. Each episode is about an hour long and will stream on IGN.com and IGN’s YouTube channel.
I think QTEs can get out of hand, but if they fit then they should be in there. GOW of course did them very well. I like mini QTEs in game sometimes, like opening a heavy door or what not. I love how Heavy Rain used QTEs too, but that is because QTE flows with the interactive choyle that is the game. I think Shenmue did it pretty solid to back in the day on Dreamcast/Xbox. I don't like QTEs that have a fail ending like in Resident Evil 4/5 or Ninja Blade, where if you fail the QTE you get reset or die. I think QTEs whould flow or else they feel tacked on. I do say the RE4 QTEs fit well, but in the middle of walking a Press X to win segment seems out of place.
You want a fail attempt of QTE. Look at WET. A QTE to fight two enemies in one 3 min clip as a final ending. waht garbage that was.
I hate QTE's with a passion. Why give me a QTE sequence instead of a FMV? Why take out most of my control over the character if you want me to take action?
Why, do I have to be carried with all that stupid flashy button sequence bullshit instead of having me actually practice some combos?
Such a fucking stupid idea... QUICKLY PRESS X QUICKLY PRESS O NOW SQUARE AND CONGRATULATIONS YOU ARE A WINNER!!11
I hope the QTE fashion dies quickly for it truly ruins the experience for me.I want full control or simple FMV sequences, not this bullshit wannabe interactive cinematic aberration.
I don't hate QTE's but I do think they should be used less often in games like GoW. I love watching the stuff Kratos does to take down bad guys but TBH I'd much rather have boss fights where I take them down in the way that you take down the Colossi in Shadow of the Colossus.
That was done for the Kronos fight and I loved it to bits. We need more fights like that instead of QTE heavy fights.
