no shit. the fighting game community has been prominent on playstation for a long time now

Thesonygeniuses5443d ago (Edited 5443d ago )

however, if both consoles have arcade sticks, do consoles matter?

I think 98% of pro gamers in the fighting genre play with arcade sticks.

Lord_Sloth5443d ago

Well some of us just use the basic controller.

I entered a local Street Fighter IV tournament and, while I didn't get my ass KICKED, I didn't do that well due to the 360's controller. I wanted my PS3...

Peaceful_Jelly5443d ago (Edited 5443d ago )

They only use PS3 because of 2 things:

1. most fighting games are 1 or 2 frames faster on the Xbox and for the sake of consistency they only use 1 console

2. there are lots of pad players now and they prefer to play with a Dual-Shock controller.

v1c1ous5443d ago

actually the preliminary bouts are played on both xbox 360 and ps3, but EVO itself is sponsored by playstation, so it would make sense they only use PS3 for the big event.

but i understand this is N4G so the sensationalism isn't gonna opt out of this one.

Joni-Ice5443d ago (Edited 5443d ago )

I won't believe it until the day of the release and its only on PS3.

oh, its a contest? lol

I_find_it_funny5443d ago (Edited 5443d ago )

you failed at funny comment, it doesnt get any more sad than that

Joni-Ice5443d ago

No it wasn't a funny comment. I thought Evo was a gaming developer and they were making games just for the PS3. So my mistake and you too failed at not understanding where I was coming from.

TastyTreats5443d ago

xbox is only good for shooters

v1c1ous5443d ago

if you watched the prelim tournaments all over the country you would know xbox 360 AND ps3s r used

NoobSessions5443d ago (Edited 5443d ago )

Lolol, kay.

Either way, most "pros" use arcade sticks, so theres no real difference.

Optical_Matrix5443d ago

Thats so random? O.o I mean the PS fighting game community has been prominent for YEARS, before Xbox brand existed, but I always thought the de facto for the majority of games at tournaments was Xbox 360. Cool news anyway. Looking forward to watching it.

beast242tru5443d ago

well if its tournament they mite use the ps3 to be on safe side from rrod the oz team played mortal kombat for hours and broke a fighting game record and guess what console they used

v1c1ous5443d ago (Edited 5443d ago )

as opposed to YLOD lol am i rite? or like that one time the ps3 froze during sf4 in one of the semi-finals?

oh i'm sorry, did i throw a wrench into your BS?

beast242tru5443d ago (Edited 5443d ago )

well ylod can happen but rrod chances are greater notice ur disagrees overpower ur agrees partna

p.s the ps3 shuts off first that means its too hot let cool down and come back when rrod comes ur system is out for the count

RipTen Dojo: Running The Tournament

So far in the RipTen Dojo series, I’ve been mainly discussing the player side of the experience: how to begin the training process, what you can learn from your losses, and how to prepare and what you can expect from your first tournament. In this week’s RipTen Dojo, we’re going to look at things from the other side of things. I find it surprisingly common to hear people say that they want to be able to run their own tournament.

I would love to enjoy fighting games. I just don't have the patients to learn them lol

greeneggsnsam5165d ago

I enjoy the process of learning but I can't ever get good enough.

KingNintendoFanboy5165d ago

I find just about all of them to be overly complicated.

bfenty5165d ago

I love these articles. I've never been that great at fighting games but they are helping me get a lot better.
