I seem to remember when delayed versions of multiplatform games coming out on the PS3 a month or two later, having improved visuals to a certain degree. Nothing significant however. In fact, this notion was bought forward by many Xbox owners when PS3 fanboys tried to boast.

This is similar to that. Developers have more time to tweak little things to further improve their product. Unless people are implying the PS3 can't handle VF5 with improved visuals, or support Online play for titles, I have no idea what this story actually is meant to mean.

Well, we can compare it with FightNight3 for x360 and PS3, where the PS3 looked better (only just) imo. But it has been in developement longer.
VF5 has been longer in developement for the x360, so it could explain the "better" graphics, wich tbh don't meant sh!t when the game itself should suck. ( i'm not saying VF5 sucks, just tried to make a point...)

This is sega, folks... They're not developer geniuses here. I mean, look at all their games. They look like donkey piss. They're not a graphics heavy talented group over there at Sega. Game looks exactly the same on both consoles. (Minor Differences)

PS3 version the fighter has *Jaggies* but texturing on the fighters are better more realer. (Not a huge Difference)

360 version the fighters has no *Jaggies* but the fighters looks alittle more plastic and a little less real. (Not a huge difference)

Both difference equates the game from a graphical standpoint.

360 version gets the edge for Online play & Extra Features!

But again without processing, this game is a last generation game with *Just* next generation graphics.

I do have a little secret, of a extended remix version on PS3 with extra fighters and online play!

this was the first fighting game on the ps3 and it was almost a launch title.. It was released 4 months after the ps3 came out.

SOOOOOO My 360 better be able to push this game out and make it even look slightly better or ill be pissed.. Ive had my 360 for 2 years and there's not one good fighting game on the system.. VF5 on the ps3 has been the best fighting game out so far.. I really didnt like the game but reviewers praised it.. Anyway its good to see that the 360 has a good fighting game now.. I wouldnt be bragging so much because the graphics arent that much better than the ps3 version.. And like i said it was a launch title on the ps3.. Just go back and play DOA to see how the first fighting game on the 360 looked..

A game that took a while to get ported over should have better graphics it's the online enabled that's a big deal. I played the ps3 version and I also have a 360 but I still probably won't pick this up. I would rather play DOA or Tekken Online.

It just says it all. It's funny that Sony fanboys always like to hear about the only game that was really a bit better on the PS3, Oblivion, that came a year later on the PS3 compared to a fast PC port for the 360 and they don't want to hear about real improvements like this VF5 version a half year after the PS3 version.

Well dudes, here is your proof. A PS3 port looks better on the 360. How about that? The 360 'ports' on the PS3 look less. The PS3 'ports' on the 360 look better. Obviously the 360 hardware is better for gaming if they can achieve this with just a port. You can talk Cell and BluRay all day long, but in the end, the 360 gets the better games and better versions of multiplatform games.

Dev time clearly MATTERS- and will always result in a better game. Meaning when Stranglehold, or the Orange BOx, releases on PS3... I don't wanna hear any "oh, look how SUPERIOR developers can work wonders for Sony's console". None of that.

Without online, VF5 would be the SAME..EXACT...GAME on both platforms. Wanna make graphical differences? Play VF 5 on your 360 at 1080p....wait never mind, you cant. Play VF 5 on your PS3 at 1080p visuals and you will see a more polished and graphical showcase on PS3.

OK I'm all about the 360,but remember fight round 3 came out in February for the 360.Then how months later for PS3 and the graphics were just overall better.Well if you ask me this is the same thing.Only this time the situation is reversed,and it's a different game.More time spent on the game should be a better product.

I was taken down to 4 bubbles the other day for saying what all the reviewers are saying now.

Anyway the more I play this game the more I realize how lucky Sony fans were. The game plays like a dream I love how you make your own combos instead of activating canned combos animations so to speak" with a series of secret button patterns.

No difference in the graphics.

Both are awesome versions of the game and the 360 version has all that nice multi-player wrapped up inside.

On that note however, I kinda find it obvious that a reviewer from "Xbox 360 World" would take his time out and bash the PS3. Sure, the game was out a year and a half ago and, whether or not you want to call this a fanboy statement or not, it had more development time and was built as a port on a piece of hardware that developers were way more familiar with. Still, that said, the versions look almost identical and play exactly the same except for two details. Those are:

1) Multiplayer added and DLC coming
2) The 360 version has had a better anti-aliasing ratio added which removes some jaggies and sheens things over better.

So, now that thats said, everyone can actually get back to enjoying the -game- part right?

You do have an HDTV right? if so go watch some club 1080 programs on Discovery HD and you'll see the Xbox 360 more closely matches real life lighting and vibrance making all games look great and the Photo Real ones more realistic.

hating on Playstation because the 360 version (which is being released almost 9 months later, mind you) looks a tiny bit better. Aren't you supposed to be glad that they were able to properly port Virtua Fighter 5 from nVidia hardware to ATI hardware without any hiccups? The game's pretty old, so I would be a lot more excited for Tekken 6 or Soul Calibur, but it's still a great fighting game worth checking out.

Shiny is not HDR. When people look like shiny plastic it's because the shaders used to create the lighting are too simple. Xbox360 hardware is great for this kind of thing. However, Xbox fanboys (including the reviewer who talked about "xbox360 sheen") seem to think this is some kind of advanced graphical feature. It's actually the opposite.

It's hilarious sitting here watching Xbox360 fanboys drool over shiny plastic characters with shiny plastic hair that is a surefire indication that the developers were not able to get in complex skin shaders running smoothly.

HDR, btw, refers to stands for High Dynamic Range. Xbox360 games are hard-wired with an inferior HDR format (FP10) to what the PS3 (and nearly all modern PC hardware) have. Xbox360 hardware does not have the ability to do FP16 or equivalent quality HDR. Luckily most people have crappy TVs.

360 graphics are always better. If you must make a graphics comparison, then i would say that 360 graphics appear more consistent.That is to say, they appear to suffer less from game problems such as stuttering framerates,lower refresh rates and other niggles.This may be a development thing or a hardware limitation,time will tell.However, the 360 gets those problems too, maybe just not as often.
Edit @60.1 Haven't played resistance so, can't comment. However, that is not an argument i have heard before, so it may just be your own preference which of course is fine.

As owner of both a PS3 and a 360, I would like to know what the real issues are. I see all sorts of speculation as to why the 360 version is better than the PS3 version, and honestly, I really don't care, I just buy the version thats better, even though they "should" be rather identical.

What I would like to know is, why Naughty Dog, Kojima, and Insomniac and the COD4 team have engines that really seem to work and work well. Granted, Uncharted and MGS4 have yet to prove themselves in the market place. Previews of those games seem really positive.

The vast majority of the games that are delayed are based on the Unreal III engine. I would like to know what the issues are. Rainbow 6: Vegas uses this engine and is out on both platforms and seems like a very similar experience on both platforms from what I've seen and played.

Yes, the PS3 is more difficult to code for, but when you use a common engine there should (in theory) be minimal issues.

Another question I have with regards to the Unreal III engine is (or any third party engine that is used to make games for both the 360 and PS3), is there parity between the 360 version and the PS3 version? Does the PS3 version feature for feature the same as the 360 version? Logic says it should, but often the real world is a lot different.

I'm not slamming any console, dev or engine, I really would just like to know the technical challenges that are involved in implementing various third party engines on the 360 and PS3. To me some of this just doesn't make sense. If you develop a game for the 360 you should be able to use a lot of the same assets for the PS3. You should be able to use the same textures, models, etc, and I know that in general they do. With that said, why do some of the games showing up on the PS3 not have textures that look as good as on the 360 when they "should" be the same texture?

It just seems that the delays and issues are all surrounded in a shroud of mystery that really doesn't need to be there. I would love for a PS3 dev and a 360(multiplat) dev to give us the scoop on these challenges. For both going from PS3->360 and from 360->PS3.

All you xbots always call out these multiplatform games in which the 360 looks better then the ps3, but when the ps3 games look better then 360's, then graphics aren't everything or don't mean a thing. As long as the game is fun it doesn't matter right? Halo 3 didn't have ground breaking graphics, yet all those 360 bots still are having fun with it and calling it one of the best games ever. You have to ask yourselves do graphics mean everything, the wii would beg to differ with you and I do to. I mean who even plays fighters anymore anyway. You can have your better looking vfighter, while I will be playing Killzone 2 which will destroy anything on the 360 up to date.

If your waiting for a graphic jump, Look no further then UNCHARTED. Has the best use of lighting,textures,normal mapping. HDR.

the 360 is the more powerful hardware..duh..everybody in their right mind realizes this already..did you know that naughty dog had to strip out all the advanced lighting,and shaders from the unreal engine to get uncharted to run on the ps3 hardware..this is not bs,and if they ported that game to a pc or 360,imagine what the lighting would do..dont believe me? look at all the videos and screen shots,and look cloesly at the lack of any realtime lighting,or any lighting for that matter..though halo3 runs in 640p it uses a lighhting engine so realistic its scary..this is the stuff that really shows off the next gen capablities.

With the incredibly obvious fanboy opening to their VF 5 review and their incredibly tasteless breast cancer feature, I am sick of Gamesradar. Seems like all they are trying to do is generate hits for their site.

I own a PS3, and I give props to the 360 for improving this title. They did a great job and deserve credit.

So far the 360 is the superior machine. The 360 has superior development tools that software developers can fully utilize. They have been using many of the same tools for years, So using them is second nature to many of the developers.

The PS3 strengths truly lie in the hardware itself. The tools that are so abundant for the 360 are no so for the PS3. It takes much more time to develop the same quality games for the PS3 as it does for the xbox. You have to remember, developers are creating the tools they need as they go. It really could take years to fully utilize the maximum potential of the Cell.

The simply truth is, the Xbox developers are asked to build a house. They are supplied all the tools (hammers, nails, saws..). The PS3 developers are given the same task without any tools at all. Who will build the better house?

When Virtua Fighter went playstation exclusive, all you ever heard about was how awesome Virtua Fighter was. It was pronounced the best fighter on the planet. When it was announced for 360, playstation owners swore up and down that it wouldn't make the transition to xbox. It would have downgraded graphics and less content because of disc space. Well, here it is. Better graphics, more content, and online play. My point is, 360 can do anything PS3 can do and vice versa. I can't help but hate a group of people who don't want me to have great games on the system I prefer. It doesn't bother me one bit that PS3 owners have Ninja Gaiden, Oblivion, and now Lost Planet. I'm glad they get to play those great games and I'm glad the developers get even more money for their hard work. There's a way around every limitation for both systems and watching you guys bicker like this makes me ashamed to call myself a gamer.

killzone 2- i can assure you there are billions of polygons onscreen atonce, and the game was again mistaken as pre-rendered and a cg cutscene

wardevil- CG ingame

Final Fantasy 13- billions of polygons onscreen, seemless gameplay/cg engine ingame

same with versus

Ratchet and clank- only pixar movie ingame, and cg game currently out and comming out

Uncharted- no chance of being done out of a cutscene without cell, Rsx, and blue ray

GT5-destroys any, and i mean ANY game graphically

and there are tech demos that kill all games

as you xbox fanatics say this review isnt reliable at all. Its biased based on the fact that its a 360 site. 1up is more reliable?? YEAH RIGTH... anyways the game is great and better than the PS3 version not for the fact that the graphics are sligthy improved but for the online portion of the game.

360 fanatics alway complain that PS3 fans always used Oblivion as an example for graphic superiority. At least in oblivion the difference is obious. Not it VF5. You have to really look meticulously to really see the graphics improvements. ive played both version and (alliasing problems aside) the only REAL improvement is online play.

The point of everybody here is a little relative. The 360 version was in development more time and the 360 is supposed easier to develop so we at least expect better anti alliasing. The PS3 version of some games are in development often more time than the 360 version, in a difficult to progran console sometime the results arent optimal. When a game like Oblivion shows 360 fanatics said that if the 360 version receive the same amount of development time it will look eqaual. SAME WITH VF5. So no real improvement to me.

Also I hate reviewers nowadays. If the PS3 version of a game came later than the 360 version they take points because they already enjoyed the game. When its the 360 the score is higher...My God...and they said they are not biased...my a$$.

Also guys an example of a game looking better with more dev time on the game console is VF4 Evo for the PS2. Compare it to VF4. Evo has better lightning, better animations and antialiasing...SO FANATICS a BETTER VF5 game on the 360 doesnt prove anything rigth now. Well I was done with this game months ago and even if it had online on the PS3 I still would of moved on to another game by then. It's nice that the 360 has online but really, there are too many other good games this month on both systems to even care about this game anymore.

I have said this many many time. Why can we not play the game we need some scrubs to tell us what game we should play. We allow people to choose what system we should play, and what game we should play.

I think this is a bad thread. We should be talking about the great games that have and are coming out this year. We are talking about VF5 which looks good on the PS3 and 360.

You guys should really learn more about gaming and just play what you like and dont try to support these types of threads.
