I reckon that that quote will be seen as ironic when the game comes out.

-Superman-5465d ago

Let me play Dead Island first, then we talk.

-Superman-5465d ago

Left 4 Dead is not single player game, its multiplayer co-op game. I like versus co-op most. Of cause Dead Island id different, its free roaming game, single player game.

xPhearR3dx5465d ago

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Dead Island also features 4 player co-op in a free roam environment.

KwietStorm_BLM5465d ago

Dead Island has 4 player drop in, drop out coop.

-Superman-5465d ago

Well GTA 4 had Co-Op also, but it failed, just like Arma 2 co op and also big map games.
It has no VERSUS Co-Op, this is co-op game without big missions. Its more like free roaming, killing zombies and run to 1 place.

xPhearR3dx5465d ago

GTA IV Co-op was just simple missions, unless you're referring to Free Roam with 16 players but that's not Co-op. Saints Row 2 had drop in drop out co-op in a free roam environment and it was brilliant. Probably the best open world co-op experience you will ever touch on consoles, where nothing from the single player was taken away when a online buddy joined in.

If Dead Island's Co-op is similar to Saints Row 2 where everything that can be done (and I mean everything) in single player, can be done with 3 other players. Dead Island's Co-op will be fantastic. Not saying it's going to make Left 4 Dead look like an "arcade experience" because I would need to play the game for myself, but it will definitely help put a strong back into those words.

arcade=fun simulation = ends up being boring and too hard :/ (in some cases)

bitboi5465d ago (Edited 5465d ago )

all types of games can be fun. whether they're simulation, arcade, strategy, etc. it's a matter of opinion as to whether you like those styles of play or not.

MidnytRain5465d ago

Sounds like someone sucks at simulation games, lol. It's okay, bro. I won't be laughing at you through the internet for much longer.

PRHB HYBRiiD5464d ago

@MidnyRain lol ...wanna play GT5 against me on nurburging .."bro" ?

RedDead5465d ago (Edited 5465d ago )

L4D is a damn good game, regardless of Arcade or not, i've had some of my best gaming moments this gen with 3 of my friends on that game. Expert is difficult.

ALso below, on Expert, tank is faster, has more life and can one hit you, and Zombies are fu**ing dangerous on expert

shovelface885465d ago

Why don't they finish the game and release about 3-4 more triple-A titles before they try and dis Valve games.

LOGICWINS5465d ago

How is calling L4D an arcade experience dissing Valve? Thats exactly what L4D is. If it was a simulation then one hit from a Tank would be enough to severely injure you to the point that you can't gt back up.

BubbleSniper5465d ago

lol.. it can one hit you on expert. and on L4d2 expert realism.. oh boy. i don't even feel like going into the horror stories.

OhMyGandhi5465d ago

problem is that if the quote "Left 4 Dead is an arcade experience" is simply stating the genre of the game for no reason but to...state the genre, then what would the purpose be of...stating the genre?

it was meant to diminish the game's integrity, not make note of the type of game it is.

KwietStorm_BLM5465d ago (Edited 5465d ago )

I guess you would be right if they did actually diss Valve or their games. Left 4 Dead is an arcade game/experience. It is fast paced, shoot em up, simple gameplay. There is nothing wrong with that. It does what it does well, and it's a fun game for what it's worth. But based on just the videos of Dead Island, it looks to be much more in depth, with a level of variety that just isn't seen in 'arcade type' experiences. You have a persistent stamina level, weapons can break or be modded, the combat is much more intimate than your average zombie game. Whether or not Dead Island will turn out to be a good game is yet to be seen, but I'm sure the reason the comment was made in the first place was only because people keep bringing up Left 4 Dead.

awi59515465d ago (Edited 5465d ago )

There already talking smack i bet this game comes out and its a 6 at most.If the company doenst go belly up first. No way this game is better than left 4 dead unless they rip them off. And left 4 dead 2 has alot of strategy in it in VS mode.

-Superman-5465d ago

Well but game is fun, always different.
I love L4D game, i can play it forever. So fun, i love when tank is coming, then you hear this dum dum dum music :D

death2smoochie5465d ago

They have a lot to live up to in order to say them words about Left 4 Dead.

Dead Island 2 devs believe a Dead Island remake would be a “mistake”

We might be in the age of remasters, but it doesn't look like the Dead Island 2 devs believe remaking the original game is the right move for the series.

but remakes require far less effort for these companies and they can still charge $70 for them!

Feel like everyone makes fun of Skyrim re-releasing like 18 times yet applaud these remasters elsewhere. Would much prefer NEW games

CrimsonWing691170d ago

Making sequels really is the way to go. Otherwise we'll be stuck playing only the first entry, forever!!!

Dead Island's 2011 reveal is still the best game trailer of all time

Josiah Motley of KnowTechie writes: "I love video game trailers. While I don’t believe they are an integral part of a game’s success (especially these days), there’s something about a well-produced trailer that really just reminds me why I like video games."

Also the most misleading of all time

SDuck1582d ago

How so? Because it focused on a family that you see dying? (innocent question, haven't gotten a chance to play any Dead Island game yet)

aconnellan1582d ago

More the tone of it - the tone of the trailer suggested something personal and dramatic, but the game was very much reminiscent of Left 4 Dead in that you were just there to kill zombies and nothing more

Ashby_JC1582d ago

You play as a singular character there is no family involved at all in the game. Still a stand out trailer that I remember clearly from years ago.

Fntastic1582d ago (Edited 1582d ago )

Did you not like the game?

I remember going in expecting a L4D style of game, but the excessive camera swaying honestly made me feel ill, and it's rare for a game to do that to me, still don't understand why the need for anything other than maybe a subtle slight camera movement when doing melee attacks etc. Other than that i didn't really find the game that good. In all honesty i had more enjoyment out of DNF, and i know many people crap on that game.

BioShockGX1581d ago

I still remember this misleading controversy

RickRoland1582d ago

It’s the music. It’s perfect. I agree with this for sure, it is well choreographed….unfortunately the game didn’t live up to the trailer.

brewin1581d ago

Maybe not, but it was still a good game. I liked how they expanded things with Dying Light, but Dead Island was a great first attempt! I really liked all the Easter eggs and homages to other horror franchises sprinkled throughout. Sure it was a little cheesy and over there top, but it was a good happy medium between Far Cry and Fallout with zombies.

EmperorDalek1582d ago

I'm gonna heavily disagree with that.

CrimsonWing691582d ago

Have you ever seen any of the MGS 3 or MGS 4 trailers? Those blow this out of the water for me.

TricksterArrow1582d ago

They require prior knowledge of the franchise, tho. You show this trailer to anyone, and I mean ANYONE, and they can understand what's going on and relate to the family dynamic almost immediately. No need to know who is Snake, or Fox Hound, or Raiden, or Metal Gear...

Top 10 Xbox 360 Games That Need to be Backward Compatible

Kevin F. from Link Cable Gaming writes: "Many of the best Xbox 360 games are playable on the Xbox One and Series X|S consoles. Some even with some enhanced visuals and performance. Unfortunately, not every game from the Xbox 360 library has received this glorious feat of being able to be played on more modern Microsoft consoles."

Max Payne 3 needs to be on that list.

autobotdan1796d ago

The Spider-man games will never happen. The xbox 360 Marvel Ultimate Alliance games have a better chance of happening than Spider-man titles but won't happen. The Xbox One Ultimate Alliance games delisted years ago

Vits1795d ago

Yeah... you can totally forget about those entries that got delisted because of licensing issues. Those are not happening.

MetalProxy1795d ago

Wait everything isn’t BC? You guys act like it is lol

porkChop1795d ago

Almost all of the games people want to play are BC, and that's a hell of a lot better than having none available.

ApocalypseShadow1795d ago (Edited 1795d ago )

Almost all the games people want to play? Not true. Majority picks screw over the minority who have games collecting dust. Metal is right. Fans make it seem that it's all. 39/997 games from OG Xbox is NOT all. 568/2154 from 360 is NOT all. But you guys play it up like it is.

And from my count, there are 4,000+ PS4 BC games on PS5 that I see. And almost every VR game. Series X has no Kinect games or Kinect 2. But you played that up too. No more dancing.

As for the article, some of the BC games make sense. The others with Spider-Man aren't happening.
