Bandai Namco has released its latest financial report, revealing that the Dark Souls series has reached around 40 million units combined.

Before Elden Ring and Bloodborne, FromSoftware's talents for all things creepy and chilling gave Dark Souls an atmosphere unlike any other.
This feels like the epitome of a 'tepid take'. Dark Souls has always worn its gothic horror influences on its sleeve, it isn't exactly subtle.
From what I have seen, it takes the great gameplay of Demon's Souls (and the entire idea behind it) and fleshes it out better in more fully realized world.
Open World exploration, still the same risk/reward difficulty curve, same great tension it creates, slicker interface, better graphics, same if not better art style, and of course whatever multiplayer enhancements they are cooking up (and they have said they have a bunch up their sleves but don't want to ruin the suprise).
This will be one incredible game for those with the patience for the gameplay and the yearning for the challenge when beating games actually meant something.
Between this and Skyrim...it will be an incredible fall for RPGers.
Is it going to be as insanely difficult as Demon's Souls was at times? I'm all for tough game play but c'mon!
