Capcom Shoots Down Devil May Cry HD Collection Rumors, DmC Playable By Year’s End

During the days before E3 2011 rumors were swirling around the Internet claiming that Capcom was readying a Devil May Cry HD collection which would include the first three games released on the PS2. Today that rumor was debunked by Capcom’s Christian Svensson.

wow, so Capcom is being attacked for this game? good job fans.

Warprincess1165463d ago

I know. I saw the new trailer and it looked amazing. That the problem with gamers. They never want change. Infamous is a perfect example and now this. Im just glad Capcom is sticking by the new Dante design.

* Im just glad Capcom is sticking by the new Dante design.*

Why just cuz he looks like one of those retarded emo's from twilight :D??

rezzah5463d ago

Lets make Mario look like a bum.

But wait! gamers don't like change.

You don't go around changing a icon like he or she never meant anything (yea thats why people wanted old Cole).

Theres a connection, people grew up seeing this image of a character for years and now they stare at a ragged looking drug addict.

If you had any strong connection towards the DMC series you would understand. And just playing them all doesn't mean you do.

squallheart5463d ago

Rats i actually would have wanted this collection since i never played then. I told my gf about the new dmc since shes a big fan, she was really pissed saying shell stick with bayonetta.

BISHOP-BRASIL5463d ago

@Warprincess116

InFamous 2 is miles better than the first InFamous and they actually followed fans feedback, they ended making new Cole more like old Cole and keeping a good story connection with the first. That's all fans asked.

Capcom is giving the fans the finger, denying us the good old Dante games (maybe afraid we get the contrast taste even further on our memories?) and sticking with this pile of shit, praying that DmC moves more units and rate higher than previous games...

I don't see the correlation you point at all. In fact those are two opposite takes on the matter.

In both cases fans are against changes that hurt their relation and recognition of the franchise, not simply "they never want change", we always want the next game to be better than the last, not the same.

As the usual consumer to this products WE ARE ENTITLED to say what we want. Ultimatelly it's the companies' decision to make whatever the hell they want with their franchises. But don't expect us to be happy with cheap tactics to use popular franchises to try more popular concepts that have nothing to do with the series. Would you want every game to become a COD clone? That sure sells a lot!

jc485735463d ago

i rather replay the HD collection.

reznik_zerosum5463d ago

for me problem is not in hes looks (which btw suck),but in all that rebel s**t,cmon really "their truth is a lie", i felt really ashamed watching that trailer, that could be only cool for some 13 rager-rebel,not funny not serious, immature is right word

Capcom Shoots Down Devil May Cry HD Collection Rumors, DmC Playable By Year’s End

Because they know it will outsell the new dmc 10:1 or even higher

jc485735463d ago (Edited 5463d ago )

I wonder if this will happen the same for Silent Hill HD collection. That will be embarrassing if it did outsell Downpour.

rezzah5463d ago

Well i am looking forward to the collection much more than the new addition to the series.

Meaning if I dont get my hands on Downpour I wouldnt really care.

jc485735463d ago (Edited 5463d ago )

seriously, I always thought if people cared about HD remasters and it seems like most do. If there are no good games atm, might as well just rerelease the best titles. It really increases the longevity of the game at least, especially if they're in a blue ray.

The_Firestarter5463d ago

Seriously, it's like Capcom is doing everything in their power to fuck up the DMC franchise.

GunofthePatriots5463d ago

capcom loves money....well see a dmc hd collection one day!

rezzah5463d ago

I know they do, especially when they went back on their promise by moving MH Tri to the Wii instead of keeping it on the PS3 (huge sales compared to the PS3 and easier to develop).

But with this move, its as if they don't think anyone cares about the older DMC games...when that is what all people refer to when talking about DMC.

1 and 3 rules!

Tony-Red-Grave5463d ago

give me reasons why DMC2 doesn't rule before i start posting why it does

rezzah5463d ago

Graphically it was a great improvement than 1, however gameplay wasn't as good and the game was far more easier compared to 1. 2 actually put the DMC series in shame for being a terrible sequel, if I remember correctly I don't think capcom worked on it (btw im too lazy to go find it and check who developed it).

between 2 and 4 I think 4 was a bit more of a let down, but 2 was still pretty bad.

Tony-Red-Grave5463d ago

you just said the magical words "gameplay" there end of conversation.

DMC2 was by far the most, if not slightly below DMC3, innovative in terms of gameplay it improved upon every aspect of DMC1 in terms of gameplay.

if your to "lazy" to have notced that then fact is you didn't know what DMC was til 3 and just base your hate off what you read

rezzah5463d ago

Doesn't seem like you expanded on anything more than the word innovative, so does that mean you have no clue what you are talking about?

I'll take that as a fact that you have no clue what DMC is about.

Main reason why 2 isn't one of the best is like I said before it was too easy, even on the hardest mode. The enemies were slow and predictable, even the very last boss wasn't hard at all (infact none of them were). The game required less skill even when compared to 4. Sure it had its pros which were awesome, but still don't make up for what the game lacked. And what it lacked is the required level of skill that ALL DMC games are known for. Yea, that includes 1, which require more skill than 2. Even 4 was very innovative in its own way (Nero's arm and charging his sword, Dante's unique set of weapons), but still lacked in comparison to 3 most of all. 3 is the most perfected DMC game in the entire series, if you don't understand this then you should give up on DMC altogether. 3 brought back everything to the DMC series plus more. It was the revival from the wreckage that was 2. The level of skill needed for 3 is the most intense of all the DMC games, and it ranks as one of the most difficult games of all time. Even with that said difficulty is not everything, it brought the range of weapons for your own personal style and preference. The weapons had leveling system that not only increased attack (like in many games) but brought with it new combos that were challenging to pull off based on the weapon of choice. Variety in weapons was higher. Next up is the ability system which allowed you to pull off certain moves when pressing O. With Gunslinger you did special attacks with the 2 guns equipped, there was an ability to make you quickly dodge (final level allowed you to teleport towards your enemy), another allowed you to do extra special moves with your melee weapon of choice, Doppelganger allowed you fight with a double of yourself doing extra damage (also if you had a second controller a friend could play as the second you), another ability even allowed you to block for the first time in DMC. The battle system itself had increased to be far better than both 1 and 2. Another issue I found with 2 was that despite the back of the box saying something about Dante talking more he actually said fewer words than in 1; he was too quiet. In 3 Dante was fun, energetic and most of all he had style compared to any other DMC game. Another reason why 2 sucked the most was that Dante lacked any character development at all, the developers thought that by making Dante like a statue he would end up being more badass. It had the opposite effect, he became boring. Instead the game seemed to focus more on Lucia and her origin. Now that i think of it, in a way it seems like Dante was a secondary character when compared to Lucia because as a character he didn't develop at all.

With all that said I can go deeper but it would require more time for me to think back unto the days I play all the games many times. And I do not limit my knowledge of the DMC series to the games too; I own the animated shows, the mangas, and the novels.

I think this is a my last bubble and that you have 2 more or something, give me your reason why 2 is so high up with 1 and 3. I dislike 4, but even so I still consider it enjoyable in many ways when compared to 2.

nolifeking5463d ago

@Tony
I'll give you one reason: You could beat the game using the guns almost exclusively.

Tony-Red-Grave5463d ago

that wall of text is not FTW learn t seperate half the things your write. But i didn't disgree with the fact DMC2 was easy, let alone compared to the rest of the DMC series.

But i did say DMC2 was far more innovative than DMC4 is, gameplay wise, it brought in everything DMC3 is know for and did the multiple stories better.

But no i guess somehow how that is overshadowed by the fact is was easy somehow DMC4 with its backtracking manages to be better beacause its slightly harder? yes slightly.

and again als that wals of text you put on DMC3 was started, if not introduced, in DMC2. two some timesome came from dmc2,the shoutgun spray from a sword combo in dmc2, quicksliver DMC2 hell DMC1 as well, the style button was DMC2s own version of trickster, 2 characters in one game DMC2 did better in that it had seperate discs with seperate stories doupleganger is from DMC3 of course.

funny how you say "DMC2 did some amazing stuff too" but almost everything you mentioned started in DMC2 even the ALT customes, which were introduced in DMC1, were there so was bloody palace.

the game was easy god for that DMC3 managed to be the hardest good for that too but DMC2 stared the gameplay innovations DMC3 is known for saying DMC3 started everything it didn;t just proves you might as well have skipped DMC2 and based whatever rants you have on it from the interwebz.

and please next time use paragraphs i had to skim through everything i read to get the bits of detail that i needed to make my reply.

You sound like you’re just a ton of fun to be around.

franwex402d ago

It’s been sitting in my backlog for a while now. One of the first games I wanted to try for this current gen due to the long load times of previous gen. I’ll get around to it soon!

Zenzuu402d ago

One of the best, stylish, and fun action slasher on the system. You definitely should get to it, as soon as you can.

solideagle402d ago

they are taking way too much time with DMC6...

VersusDMC401d ago

The DMC5 team went on to make Dragons Dogma 2, the DMC director (3,4,5) left capcom to make an action game at another studio and the rumor is that a DMC remake is next...so i wouldn't hold my breath on DMC6.

ZeekQuattro401d ago

Everytime its on sale I think about buying it but never do. I only played the orginal and somr of 3 so I guess that's part of it.
