E3 Conference Impressions: Microsoft | GamerSciz

Microsoft started off their press conference by showing CoD: MW3. Now this might not have been the best choice considering the start of the demo was 3 minutes of swimming underwater and was boring. Have a look for yourself.

They should of started with the HD remake of halo CE, that would of gotten people more pumped.

Honestly the best showcasing of what the 360 can do and their flagship title is Gears of War 3. Start off with that...

No matter how people spin it negatively, Microsoft did have a better show than last year. Even 1up graed it a B. I wholeheartedly agree with that grade.

It's hilarious that Micrsoft is the ONLY company that get hypocritical criticism for doing exactly what the 'other' big two are doing. Nintendo had Project Cafe and 3Ds to promote..Sony had Vita to promote..and they did just that and got kudos.

Micrsoft has NO hadheld device..they successfully launched Kinect on 7 months prior to a record 10 million in sales. So coming into E3..WHY on earth would they not promote Kinect. Why wouldn't they show games? Why wouldnt they show implementations?

Just like the detractors were DEAD wrong last year's conference..Micrsoft made an outstanding case why another 10 million may adapt Kinect and why the 360 may have it's biggest year yet.

The Call of Duty segment was a by-the-numbers demo that reminded of past E3 segments ala the infamous snowmobile segment. COD:MW3 will by far be the top selling game this year and may top the 360's 12 million from Black Ops by a long shot.

The bottomline is Micrsoft's decade long DLC timed exclusivity for the COD is infinantly more powerful than Sony's announcements of SSX have an 'exclusive' mountain or even Cole's addition to Street fighter (which is cool)

Gears 3 (Sep), Forza 4 (Oct), and Halo Anniversary (Nov) are all undeniably HUGE titles for the 360

The Kinect announcements were big as well..
None was bigger than the fact that Mass Effect 3 (Jan) will use Kinect as an alternative and more immersive way to play the game.

Both Forza 4 (show last year) and Ghost Recon will also lead with Kinect implementation

Crytek's Ryse and Lionhead's Fable will both probably end up at next year's E3..but both look like they will be big titles moving forward.

One of the biggest announcement was the fact that EA will use Kinect in 4 of it's major sports titles next year..Madden, Fifa, Tiger and if I were a betting man I'd say Boxin (Evildead's official prediction before anyone else).

Wisley Rare is releasing Kinect Sports (with all new sports..meaning the first title will still sell) and Dance Central 2 (with imports from the original they gave it the Rock Band treatment and 100 songs will be available..which is unprecedented for a dance game)

What was the sleeper announcement was Kinect Labs and the fact that arcade will embrace Kinect as well..not to mention Avatar Kinect which didn't make the stage

The new implementation of the dashboard will finally adress all of the whining sites like Kotaku had about navigating.

The biggest suprise of the show was Minecraft and behind the scenes PC's Witcher 2.

No matter if it leaked prior to the show Halo 4 is the 300 pound elephant in the room..it will simply dominate next year.

Sprinkle that conference in between all of the ridiculously huge titles like Skyrim, Batman Arkham, Rage, Batlefield 3 etc. and you Micrsoft may see it's biggest numbers yet.

Just my take

Evil Dead i must respectfully disagree....

The COD series has grown stale and while it will still sells uber millions because of blind loyalty, Battlefield 3 looks to be shaping up to be the better FPS..... So to think COD will be the top FPS for the next 10 years is wishful thinking IMO

Yea they shouldve started with Gears or Halo CE remake.

If they started with Halo Ce ending with Halo 4 may have been redundant though, or well planned.

EVILDEAD3605469d ago

@ Rainstorm81

no offense either..but that is your opinion of Call of Duty..

The reality is the led with the biggest franchise in the industry..period

The internet can hate on the series if they want..but Black Ops sold a whopping 22 million+ between two systems and MW3 is already tracking to sell more. With that said..Call of Duty: MW3 leading the conference was far from a mistake.

Leading with Halo Ce or Gears wouldb't have changed a thing. In fact, Sony leading with Uncharted was actually worse. That game deserved an anchor position to say the least.

@EVILDEAD360 I can understand how I didn't make it clear but I didn't mean starting with CoD was bad but moreso the demo specifically that they showed was a poor choice. Had they shown a more interesting demo then it would have been better. So it wasn't the choice of game, but rather the demo itself.

"Gaming’s Biggest Fighting Franchise"

Press X to (seriously) doubt.

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

And then MK1 killed it again.

15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.
