IGN: Road to E3: Dark Souls

Colin Moriarty writes:

"When I saw Dark Souls early in May, the lasting impression I had of the game was that it's more of the same. Demon's Souls took PlayStation 3 gamers by storm when it was released, and Dark Souls promises to do the same, but in an even more sadistic and ruthless fashion. And better yet, unlike Demon's Souls, Dark Souls isn't a PS3-exclusive. So there are plenty of reasons for Xbox 360 gamers to be excited as well."

Heh.
Thou from what I've been reading I've been getting the vibe that they've made it a tad more vanilla.

First game is something I'll never forget, Dark Souls... I have to actually play it first to see if it lives up to the hype of being "difficult."

DS made you actually think and use strategy; from what I'm reading about Dark Souls it has checkpoints...that alone is a sign...

This feels like the epitome of a 'tepid take'. Dark Souls has always worn its gothic horror influences on its sleeve, it isn't exactly subtle.

Dark fantasy, I'd say.

Horror is a bit much. Bloodborne is closer to horror.

gold_drake209d ago

mh ur right actually.

dark souls plays around with horror themes without being a straight "horror" game.

bloodborn definitely starts out as that haha.
