New Alan Wake website images surface

Gematsu: "The announcement of a new Alan Wake game is on the horizon. Remedy themselves confirmed it. What it is, exactly, we’re not quite sure. Rumors have suggested it to be an Xbox LIVE Arcade entry titled Alan Wake: Night Springs. Today, images for a new Alan Wake website, created by Anton Wiklund for Remedy, have surfaced."

Alan Wake flopped, so will this. Not saying it wasn't brilliant, one of my favorites this gen, it's just the gamers of this gen that let IT down.

JsonHenry5478d ago

Yeah man, I JUST bought the game last month. (I was waiting in vain for the PC release but I guess they truly cancelled it) Fantastic game from start to finish. Hopefully this time around it gets the sales it deserves.

Vecta5478d ago

I bought it some time after release when it went into the bargain bin and it was honestly, to my own surprise, one of my favourite games of 2010.

PandaJenkins5478d ago

It didn't flop at all dude. You do realize a game doesn't have to sell millions of copies to be a success right? Even even games that don't break one million can be a success.

That being said the game does deserve even more attention. It is bloody amazing and quite possibly the best narrative I have seen in a game from the past few years. Honestly can't wait for more of it.

Aloren5478d ago

It didn't sell as much as it could have... that doesn't mean it flopped. It's still a million seller.

Croash5478d ago (Edited 5478d ago )

@Stuart, this new game doesn't have to flop. You have to remember that Alan Wake was released along with Red Dead Redemption, Blur, ModNation Racers and Split/Second. You can even add Prince of Persia : The Forgotten Sands to that list.

That's 6 relatively good games released within a week.
As far as I'm concerned, people must make choices when it comes to buying their games.

The exclusivity of Alan Wake didn't make it stand out, it was just a game among others, and we know which one got more gamers' love. Still, they didn't get such bad sales, and the game itself was great, from what I've heard.

At least I'm glad Remedy doesn't abandon the franchise. I don't own an Xbox 360, so whenever I'll get one, I want to be able to enjoy Alan Wake and its sequel and not just play "Part 1" of a bigger project.

lelo2play5478d ago (Edited 5478d ago )

Great game...

I hope they make Alan Wake 2

Max_Dissatisfaction5478d ago

1 million plus sales...excluding digital sales. http://gamrreview.vgchartz....
Flop? At 1 million and counting? I think not.

Raven_Nomad5478d ago

Over a million sold and winning Time Magazine GOTY is considered a flop these days?

Let's not forget over a million also pirated Alan Wake. I think more and more people are just now getting into the awesomeness that is Alan Wake.

A ton of games do much worse then Alan Wake did and really pick up steam in the sequel. A full Alan Wake sequel could easily sell between 3-5 million.

Stuart57565477d ago

3-5 million? It will do the same numbers or less.

TheMrMadzen5478d ago

It's obviously gonna be a movie

HELL YEAH!

Can't wait. One of my most anticipated E3 (Hopefully) reveals.

manumit5478d ago

I freaking loved alan wake. I still hope the next Alan Wake is Zane's story.

radphil5478d ago (Edited 5478d ago )

My issue with Remedy is they pretty much lied when it came towards info on the PC version, which is non-existent now.

Still remember that Intel conference.

radphil5478d ago (Edited 5478d ago )

Of course judging by the rampant disagrees people assume i'm talking down about the game when it was one of the games I looked forward to prior to release, and still have the game.

metsgaming5478d ago

i think i know what you are talking about. The fact that it was supposed to be an open world pc game right?

radphil5478d ago

"i think i know what you are talking about. The fact that it was supposed to be an open world pc game right?"

Originally yes, then they stated multi-plat, then just the system.

I didn't mind that. What I minded was that the whole open world scene to the game stood out for me. It's still a good game, it's just that I wish that potential could have been used more.

Gamescares5478d ago

There is no confirmation from Remedy that this guy is doing work for them, in the article it even states;

“This 3D render was made for a website themed for the game – Alan Wake”.

It was made for a website theme, could just be a random fan site that this guy is working for.

Remedy haven't denied the fact this guy has a connection though, and they have responded in their official forums about this, saying the usual "no comment" thing.

If they aren't denying it, there's a good chance this guy IS indeed working for them or they would have shot it down.

Interesting....

Alan Wake 2's Upgraded PSSR Delivers A Vast Improvement

DF: "Alan Wake 2 is one of our games of the generation - a proper technical showcase - but with the arrival of Sony's upgraded PSSR upscaler, it's also a key proving ground for the capabilities of the revised technology. In its 60fps performance mode, the game's complex foliage, dense geometry and demanding lighting are paired with an internal 864p resolution, upscaled to 4K. It's a challenge that the original PSSR couldn't handle, sometimes comparing unfavourably with the original FSR2. However, the upgraded PSSR is a revelation by comparison."

I've already completed this game and everything else there is to do in it sadly, so I have no need to go back and enjoy the added enhancements that the new PSSR brings to this game. But I definitely want to go back and check out Control as I still haven't finished up all the DLC for that yet.

Ashunderfire8671d ago

O definitely do Control is a longer game than Alan Wake 2! Plus there is an Alan Wake tie in with Control, plus you face off against a scary boss! That guy was hard asf man.

Jesse Faden the main character, has so many upgrades to her movesets, and object of power gun. Playing this game now to prepare for Control Resonant.

Cacabunga71d ago (Edited 71d ago )

It’s a terrible and boring game.
No way I will ever go back to it . I really do not like Remedy’s touch

Kornholic71d ago

Sadly? You mean you can't replay a game just for the fun of it?

Neonridr71d ago

I've played through the game numerous times. It was my favorite game of 2023. I have so many other games to play. Could I go back and play it for a few minutes to appreciate some extra clarity in the distance? Sure. Would I rather play a game I haven't finished or played yet and enjoy the PSSR updates brought to those titles instead? Yes.

isarai_lee71d ago

I mean im kinda with Neonridr on this, like when i game is so good you get everything you can out of it, a slightly shaper image is cool but not worth the hassle of install/update etc

andy8572d ago (Edited 72d ago )

It's mad they can take a 864p image and make it close to a 4K image. This tech is gonna do so much for console gaming

fr0sty71d ago (Edited 71d ago )

the crazier part is, sometimes enabling this kind of AI upscaling tech actually produces a BETTER image than natively rendering at 4K (and to be clear, I'm not talking about DLSS5's AI slop that takes creativity away from the game developers).

isarai_lee71d ago

That's just outright not true

andy8571d ago

Dunno why you're getting downvotes there is actually instances of this happening. Stellar Blade being one of them. DF reported the PSSR mode looks better than the native 4K mode. Im assuming its PSSR from 1440p or higher. So imagine with the 2.0 update

__y2jb71d ago

Strange that the other story on the frontpage with AI upscaling involved is receiving a hugely negative response in the comments but a Playstation AI upscaler story...well that's just great!

isarai_lee71d ago

No it's still bad, just not nearly as egregious, but there's definitely a sizeable (and growing) group of gamers who dislike any TAA/DLSS/AI upscale in general, myself included. Every time there's some update to one of these upscaling methods I roll my eyes because only when we improve from the issues can we address the issues, but when talking outside of an improvement or update suddenly there's no issues and we're The crazy ones for criticizing AI upscaling

andy8571d ago

That's because one is changing the art (characters faces) and one is making things look sharper. Isnt because it's PlayStation.

mkis00777d ago

Such a weird post by them. Apparently they just mean the system wide toggle. Which is perfectly fine. This is based off a post they made after this post.

Eonjay76d ago

Not sure what's weird about that. The update being system wide is basically free marketing for any game using the tech. I assume they already have access to the update and are happy with the results.

mkis00776d ago

Its Just the wording, as they didnt have to do any work for it to be supported.

jznrpg76d ago

Why is it weird for a dev to let people know their game runs better now? If they didn’t mention it that would be weird

mkis00776d ago

I just mean they worded it like they did a custom thing...which they could do by tweaking base resolution if the upgraded pssr allows it with no image drawbacks. I'd be down for that.
