NGR writes: "Nintendo has done a fine job of keeping previous generations of video games alive with the Wii’s Virtual Console software. It allows us old timers to kick back and travel to a time when the words rent and utility bill weren’t part of our vocabulary, but more importantly, rare and less accessible titles are just a Wii-remote click away. Classics such as Ogre Battle, Phantasy Star, and the recently added Chrono Trigger are available without having to participate in strenuous eBay bidding wars or sketchy flea market scoutings. However, we’re still missing one of the most important titles from Nintendo’s retro library."

FuRyu revealed on Friday its Exstetra fantasy role-playing game is getting an HD remaster that will launch this summer on Steam.

The Wii is now a retro console. Let’s get nostalgic about an often maligned system.
Crazy to think the WII is to the Switch 2, as the NES was to the WII back then. 20 Year difference.
My wife asks me to bust it out (heh) everyone once in a while to play bowling and tennis with the kids. There was a ton of slop on it but some good stuff as well.
Wii was great but boy howdy did it cause Microsoft to go on a dark walk with the Kinect and the disastrous XBox One launch that they arguably never recovered from.
Not nostalgic for me.. I was there.. anyone who wasnt a little kid realized it was a gamecube with shit tacked onto it, it was the "joke" system and was well below even the switch in terms of comparing it to the latest machines at the time. The machine was well loved by young people and "casual gamers" who now remember it 20 years on, or in most cases more of its sales came in the 15-20 years ago range not right at launch- but again its not nostalgic for people who were "gamers" then really, just for those who ended up with one in their house, the games , graphics, interface and online features were archaic already in 2006.

New Chrono Trigger Form-ism figures of Crono and Marle have been showcased at a Square Enix pop-up store, with pre-orders expected soon.
I would place money on the reason being references/parodies of things they cant get away with. Due to this the lawyers in an attempt to avoid a lawsuit don't want the game to come back.
I would suspect that this is a nonfactor and kinda a pointless note.
Or maybe because the Giygas-battle will start to fuck with everyone's minds again? x)
I thought it was because of the whole "we're scared one person would get seizures" reason again. They changed some of Super Mario RPG's graphic effects because of that, and EB had some rather intense graphic effects to its spells.
Don't believe me? Look on the damn boxes, manuals, and beginning of games anymore and tell me how many damn health warnings you come across (I could come across as many as four before I even begin playing my game). Find it amusing.
Never thought it would be because of copyright issues. Thing is, if it's parodies, then Nintendo is fine because parodies fall under fair use. So I'm not sure WHY they would even be worried about that (assuming it is that).
