An extensive look at Resident Evil 1.5

Kotaku has seen screen shots and video of Capcom's aborted Resident Evil 2 before, but nothing this extensive, and certainly not this long. The PlayStation Museum's walk through of many of the shelved sequel's areas provide a better look at what they could have been given instead of the proper, and arguably much better, final version of Resident Evil 2. Ten minutes of Leon S. Kennedy and Elza Walker await you above, with a proper preview of the prototype at the link below.

This looks much better than the full version of RE2. Thats the problem with gaming companies.....They develop the game, when its almost finished, they change the game and make it a bit suckier. I think if they kept RE 1.5, it would've been pwning.

It will always be one of the best game sI have ever consider myself to have played. Everything about it was amazing, story, gameplay and graphics for its time were top notch.

now I remember why Resident Evil is my favorite franchise of all time... a lot of the stuff in that video (minus elza) would have made nice additions for a resident evil 2:director's cut maybe

I don't agree with that. I WISH I could agree with that. But buying habits and customer opinions prove otherwise

We've seen developers in the AAA space try new things and ideas. More often than not, the customers aren't willing to give things a chance, or not enough people buy into the project for it to grow.

Creativity works better in the indie space because the budgets, pressures, and expectations aren't the same.

it's a nice idea and it worked during the PS2/PS3-era when AAA didn't cost hundreds of millions of dollars. smaller budgets and shorter development time left room for more creativity and more risk. a game didn't need to sell 4 million+ copies to break even. things are different now.

This is the guy who bragged about crunching his staff and having them work through the night. Crunch culture has lost more talent and done more damage to the industry than any other factor. Screw him.
