7 things Sony must do to win E3

PSN APOLOGY: KEEP IT SHORT
We've all been hurt by the massive PlayStation Network hacks. You remember, the ones that resulted in the personal details of millions being stolen. Or maybe you remember the SOE hacks where pretty much the same thing happened. Again.

PSN APOLOGY: KEEP IT SHORT>>> why would they do otherwise?
UPGRADE THE PSN >>> I agree
SAVE PLAYSTATION MOVE>>> sorcery and that flashlight game
NGP: PRICE IT, DATE IT>>> uh yeah thats the plan
LET THE EXCLUSIVES FLOW >>> uh yeah thats the plan
GIVE US AGENT>>> uh yeah last guardian and FFv13
AVOID THE GIMMICKS>>> KB wasn't time filer, sony did a fan service by bringing him out

Sunhammer5464d ago

I can't remember the last time Sony DIDN'T win E3. They always over-deliver and this year they'll do it again. PSN was down for 20 days and the no-lives cried over their only social connection to the real world. Hopeless.

Get ready for more Sony domination. The RROD > PSN (a free service) being down for 20 days.

omi25p5463d ago

How can you win something that isnt a competition you fool

jke825463d ago

exactly omni
since when did they determine a winner of a games expo... i mean its a giant PR event whos giveing points and whos reffing (and not fan boys lol)

i really want to see those ps move core titles (esp that horror flashlight first person view game)!!!! just got my move today! bow chika bow wow~ :D

DarkFantasy5463d ago

E3 IS NOT A CONTEST!!! it's a expo -_- it's just a show for company's to show off what there doing and announce new products,no one is going to win any thing i don't remember there being an award ceremony after e3 stop making it out to be some thing else, some companies may have better products but still they don't win any thing.

I am really looking forward to E3 just as i do every year,it's one of my favorite events i can't wait to see what games are announced.

trounbyfire5463d ago

shut the hell up, EVERY website has best of E3 so STFU. Im sick of you, every year we decide which was better so stop BSing

LOGICWINS5463d ago

^^Theres a difference between being the best and winning something. Sony can have the best conference as far as fan service, but its not like they get a trophy towards the end of E3.

sikbeta5463d ago

The only way to "win" E3 is with GAMES, also New HW and/or price-cuts for current HW

subtenko5463d ago

This article is dumb. They already apologized multiple times about psn, STOP TALKING ABOUT IT, dang..

Playstation move doesnt need saving, its already a success and has more potential than M$ Kinect.

By naming and pricing and dating a console, how exactly does that make someone "WIN".. they could call it the "Mitchodrian portabl, $1000, 2012" is that winning?

They already have more exclusives than any other competitor

Agent should be shown I agree

Gimmicks...Gimmicks? what gimmicks? And Kevin Butler needs to come out cus he's been MIA!

DragonKnight5463d ago

Ummm, didn't Sony already apologize for PSN SEVERAL times, including a video with Kaz Hirai? Why would they need to apologize again? People need to get over it and place the blame where it belongs, the hackers.

A PSN upgrade announcement won't help them in any way at E3.

"Save" Playstation Move? I see we've moved on from save the PS3 to save it's motion controller.

NGP Pricing and dating won't be a clincher either.

Duh to number 5.

It's not up to Sony when Agent is released.

And as trounbyfire said, KB isn't a gimmick. E3 is a showcase designed to grab attention. KB did just that and presented Sony with flair. It was universally accepted as a great move by Sony, so why would they not want something that can do that for them again?

This article is fail.

Thatguy-3105463d ago (Edited 5463d ago )

I just need them to upgrade psn network(new fully design XMB)..it came out in 06 and yet the INTERFERANCE hasn't changed one bit. But nonetheless I'm quite excited for what they're going to unveil >=D isnt there conference going to last longer this year? They're bound to show something interesting

Really there doesn't need to be a PSN apology, I'm sick of this anti-sony bias crap all over the games press - get over it; I'd like to see the day MS apologizes for RROD.

Spitfire_Riggz5464d ago (Edited 5464d ago )

I think that might be it right there

www.slashgear.com/microsoft-a p ologizes-for-xbox-360-failures - extends-warranties-to-3-years- 0 56089/

Istanbull5463d ago

I dont understand, why does the biased media expects Sony to apologize? Did Sony let their own network getting hacked? Was it Sony's fault?

claterz5464d ago (Edited 5464d ago )

Well they better at least mention it. Otherwise it's as if they don't even care. And maybe they should reassure us that it won't happen again by giving details of how they have made PSN more secure.

Anyway, all I'm hoping for is a 15-20 minute single player demo from Uncharted 3, and that's pretty much guaranteed so I'm happy :) Anything else is a bonus.

Hairy Chewie5463d ago

I'm sure they'll mention it, but the last thing they want to do is draw more focus to it. They'll be trying flood the media with all the new things they have to offer, and it's looking like they'll have a lot to show in that 5hr conference.

claterz5463d ago

Well, the Sony conference isn't 5 hours, it's only 1.5 hours. I'm not saying they should spend half the time talking about it, but just 2-3 minutes would be fine at the beginning. Then by the time the conference is finished people will forgotten about what they said about it anyway, so it's all good.

IRetrouk5463d ago

no its been confirmed that sony are doing a five hour conference

claterz5463d ago (Edited 5463d ago )

You got a link? I'm not saying you're wrong but according to this link, the conference itself is only 1.5 hours. The rest is spent on other events.

Uh.......what?

Maybe in your twisted mind Sony didn't fail.......but to the rest of the business and technical world, they fudged up big time.

Quit with the fanboy appeal. If you're really as "die-hard" of a Sony fanboy as you seem, you would want them to apologize and reassure their customers that everything is better. Otherwise, why waste money on a company who doesn't care about the quality and experience for their consumers?

kikizoo5463d ago

éwhy waste money on a company who doesn't care about quality and experience for their consumers"

Like who ? microsoft, or even nintendo (gamecube, wii library) ?

best hardware, library/exclusives, bluray, free online, best motion controler etc = quality for consumers.

20 days without hacked psn = the last thing dumb fan boyz have enjoyed, after loosing all the battle (exclusives, graphics, and even sales)

DragonKnight5463d ago

Uhh, where's your proof that the business and technical world have that opinion.

If you look at the FACTS, Sony was truly a victim. Their security was fine, it's been proven. CC info was encrypted, it's been proven. Basically, Sony had happen to them what happens to hundreds of online services all the time. So no, Sony didn't fail. They were hacked.

I can't believe people show all this hatred towards Sony when the hackers are the one that caused this B.S. Oh but "if Sony didn't start none, wouldn't be none" right? The hackers are valiant crusaders fighting for our rights to enjoy a lack of PSN. Because that's what we want right? /s

AdvanceWarsSgt5463d ago

And I can't believe how delusional you Sony fanboys are to even believe that Sony DID NOT fudge up.

You know damn well if this was Nintendo or Microsoft you guys would be saying the exact same thing I'm saying right now. But because "ITZ DA PRESHUS SON-EE" its OK to turn a blind eye. Jesus christ you make APPLE fanboys look decent.

And tell me, how is getting your service hacked AND notifying your consumers a week later that personal data has been leaked/stolen NOT constituted as failure? Are you ****ing kidding me?!?!

DragonKnight5463d ago

AdvanceWarsSgt: "And I can't believe how delusional you Sony fanboys are to even believe that Sony DID NOT fudge up."

And how exactly did Sony "fudge up?" By not creating and impenetrable, hack proof fortress of an online service? Ok, if that's case, send your outrage to the Pentagon, every bank in existence, all online shopping stores, and the entirety of the internet. Because EVERYONE GETS HACKED!!!

"You know damn well if this was Nintendo or Microsoft you guys would be saying the exact same thing I'm saying right now. But because "ITZ DA PRESHUS SON-EE" its OK to turn a blind eye. Jesus christ you make APPLE fanboys look decent."

WRONG! If Nintendo or MS were hacked in this manner, I would continue to blame the DAMN HACKERS! It's their choice to pull this crap, and they are responsible for all the consequences and fallout. NO ONE can make a hackproof system. It is NOT possible. So get over this idea that Sony should have been impenetrable and that because they weren't they are to blame for some losers with too much time on their hands breaking in where they had no right to. Sony didn't frickin' hack themselves.

"And tell me, how is getting your service hacked AND notifying your consumers a week later that personal data has been leaked/stolen NOT constituted as failure? Are you ****ing kidding me?!?!"

Getting your service hacked is NOT a failure on Sony's part. They were victimized. Telling people anything when they had next to no information would have been STUPID. They didn't even know that personal information may have been compromised for a week. Read the facts and stop spewing media B.S. And for the record, this "personal data" you mention is all a matter of public record to begin with, as it has been CLEARLY ESTABLISHED that CC info WAS ENCRYPTED hence NOT stolen OR "leaked".

I swear to any deity that exists, this gen is filled with the most blind, irrationally hate-filled "gamers" I've ever seen. Only now can one say they have seen individuals blame the victim of a hack instead of the hacker itself. And with all the OFFICIAL information around, it's mind boggling that NONE OF YOU decide to actually READ the FACTS and instead go on media sensationalist B.S.

AdvanceWarsSgt5463d ago

So, because CC info WASN'T compromised but more important details such as names, addresses, phone numbers, and e-mails were, that makes it OK? Are you being serious right now?

And how can you say Sony DOESN'T deserve any blame when nearly every report about Sony's network defense was that it was laughably bad AT BEST? You mean to tell me a multi-billion dollar corporation couldn't invest a couple million to insure that their network defenses are at the very least decent?

But sure, this is all just "Sony hatred" and media conspiracy to rid of Sony. At least Xbox fanboys aren't blinded by loyalty so much that they can actually admit Microsoft's shortcomings and failures.

DragonKnight5463d ago

"So, because CC info WASN'T compromised but more important details such as names, addresses, phone numbers, and e-mails were, that makes it OK? Are you being serious right now?"

News flash, all those things you just mentioned are PUBLICLY AVAILABLE via MANY different methods. Your name, address, phone number, and email address are SOLD on a daily basis to hundreds of online companies. Point against you.

"And how can you say Sony DOESN'T deserve any blame when nearly every report about Sony's network defense was that it was laughably bad AT BEST? You mean to tell me a multi-billion dollar corporation couldn't invest a couple million to insure that their network defenses are at the very least decent?"

What reports? Do you have links to OFFICIAL reports? Or are you going on what every media outlet reported? Which is the word of hackers and a supposed "expert" who read reports from months back and admitted that he had no idea what Sony's CURRENT security measures were? Did you forget that a user of Beyond3D discovered that Sony's Apache software was patched with the most up to date software that was out? Oh yeah, I guess you did because it places the blame off Sony. Show actual proof that Sony had lax security, and not recycled media B.S. that holds no weight.

"But sure, this is all just "Sony hatred" and media conspiracy to rid of Sony. At least Xbox fanboys aren't blinded by loyalty so much that they can actually admit Microsoft's shortcomings and failures."

Xbox 360 failure rate at 34%

360 Fanboy: I don't care, I'll just get it repaired for free. No problem.

Yeah, they aren't blind at all.

Looks like PlayStation took a hit with Marathon and is now quietly adjusting prices worldwide to recover the losses

andy8515d ago

Lets be honest raising prices doesn't do that when no one's buying it. I imagine the profit it greater selling 10 times more at a lower price

Pergele14d ago

Whatever you say buddy, let's all wear the tinfoil hats.

IceKoldKilla14d ago (Edited 14d ago )

LMFAO Your comment alone says a lot more about you than anything else. When has one game not selling 10 million copies made a company raise the prices of their console? Then Xbox would be costing $5000 by now lol. You remind of the crazy drug addicts on the street rambling on about conspiracies. xD You sure you don't need a hug, buddy?

ChunkyMonk14d ago

One game that Sony payed $200 million for. lol
Also, you sure were quick to get triggered. Maybe your the one who needs a hug?

If nothing else, we should be united against the real issue here. AI and unnecessary tariffs that are effecting all gamers.

Athlon10115d ago (Edited 15d ago )

The price increases are due to the RAM demand associated with AI and the US-Iran war. You can look to any business news website and local news to see that. Heck, even the 2026 Asus Zenbook Duo I've been eyeing has faced delays and has had a price increase of $400; that laptop has two specs. Asus is doing a staggered release with per-orders for the lower spec now and shipping in May and pre-orders for the higher spec that I'm eyeing starting in June. Basically, all computer manufactures are affected. It'll most likely start affecting smart phones too if it hasn't already. I can't remember the last time any major console maker (Nintendo, Sony, Sega, etc) increased the price of their console mid cycle outside of Microsoft just to make more profit.

S2Killinit14d ago

Its not the war. Its the RAM issue.

jznrpg14d ago

War is causing gas prices to rise. Transport of everything requires gas so the prices of those items go up as well. So it does have an impact

Athlon10114d ago (Edited 14d ago )

The blockage of the Straight of Hormuz due to the US-Iran war has affected raw components used in semi-conductor manufacturing such as bromine, aluminum, and helium. Iran had attacked the liquified natural gas (LNG) plant in Qatar which is a large producer (1/3 globally) of helium which is used in semiconductor etching. So it's the both the war and the RAM crises.

badz14915d ago

Oh no...should I get the Pro now before the price increase?

I dont think that'll ever happen. But i must say back in the day, they were definitely trying because they were more cash rich than their competitors.

CosmicTurtle27d ago

I think MS were and still are the richer company. They tried to acquire Sega back in the day (and considered doing so again more recently), they obviously bought exclusivity to Halo which was originally shown as a Mac title. I don’t think as a company MS can claim the moral high ground here. It’s a wilful lack of self awareness.

Of course Sony would try exactly the same if they had the resources, but when the PS2 dominated the industry was in a much healthier place with an abundance of great third parties.

This has been a depressing generation as far as first party decisions are concerned. The fact we are debating business plans rather than which game is better is a sad reflection of the state of things.

Darkseeker28d ago (Edited 28d ago )

There was Nintendo as well, Sony wouldn't have had a monopoly. In fact, the world would be better today if Xbox never existed in the first place. They pretty much brought all bad practices we have today. We might have gotten all of it either way, but not this early. In term of franchises, I don't think there is anything Microsoft released that would actually be missed if it didn't exist. Even Halo the world wouldn't notice if Halo didn't exist.

S2Killinit28d ago

MS was definitely a bad influence on gaming.

raWfodog28d ago

I think almost everyone will agree that a monopoly is not good for the industry. But that being said, the competition needs to be smart and strategic with their business. Simply buying up publishers and traditional third-party studios just to keep them out of the other companies reach is not a sustainable practice. That goes for all parties so don't think I'm just referring to Xbox.

I'm no business guru by any stretch of the imagination but I firmly believe that the best way to drive consumers to your software and hardware is to invest smart in your first-party studios. Give them full support and guidance in making unique, fun games that are only available to play in your ecosystem and the gamers will come.

Reaper22_28d ago (Edited 28d ago )

But first party studios aren't enough. They only make up a small portion of the industry. Without 3rd party there would be no industry for Microsoft or sony.Developing games take time and money and sometimes you gotta make moves to stay competitive.

raWfodog28d ago

Nah, I never said first-party was enough. I said it’s the ‘best way’ to drive gamers to your platform. 3rd-party is a free-for-all and there’s no guarantee that gamers will use your hardware to play the game. If you want to push your own software and/or hardware you need first-party, or at least exclusive deals with third-party studios.

SimpleDad28d ago

They Shure did a great job... 25 years later Xbox is dead.

Reaper22_28d ago

Then why be so emotional and continue to talk about it. Xbox will never die be ause it stays in so many people's head.

lodossrage28d ago

How can you even see him being "emotional" in that comment?

If anything, you're the emotional one, constantly trying to go at anyone that says anything against Microsoft. So when you call him emotional, it comes off as deflection

Elda27d ago

I own an XBSX & I can say it's becoming irrelevant out of the 3 current consoles.
