Do actual GAMERS judge these things?? Or just people they pull off the street??

WTF is the world coming too?????

midgard2275466d ago (Edited 5466d ago )

LMAO!!!!! WTF IS THIS CRAP!!!!! lmao!!!!! Kinect sux, who ever thinks that thing is fun is on crack.

Edit at Plbelanger

sorry your wrong, its connect so it sucks :).

honestly, there are so many other games out especially new ips this year that should get the award, not this crap.

i mean its probably fun, if u dont have standards for games or you just dont play games, but this a site for gamers, not casuals, they dont even know what this site is

fluffydelusions5466d ago (Edited 5466d ago )

I don't have one nor would I consider buying one but obviously some people find it fun considering how well it sold. No need to say something sucks just because you personally don't like it.

gamingdroid5466d ago

It is naive to believe the world revolves around you and hence, games you don't like isn't worthy.

I don't see anything special about the Mona Lisa, but I respect the fact some do.

Raven_Nomad5466d ago

Okay listen up people, just because it's a game you may not be into doesn't mean it's not a great game or deserving of an award.

My son loves this game and I can see why, it's very inventive and works well, almost like a real AI pet that you can do things with. It is a wonderful title and I as an adult have even found myself getting caught up playing the game.

Not every new IP that wins an award should be a FPS or something like that. There are more casual gamers then core and this game is well deserving of this award. Congrats.

Baka-akaB5466d ago

No one said , it's not great , well at least i wouldnt dare .

But there are other new games more deserving of it . It could even be easily outdone by some of the other kinect launch new ips

Raven_Nomad5466d ago

Well have you actual played it? So many people dismiss a game they have not even actually played. This one has great Kinect functionality and is fun for everyone, looks great and most importantly actually works well and responds well.

Aside from Kinect Sports and maybe Dance Central I don't see a lot of competition for a game like this in this particular category.

Baka-akaB5466d ago

you're kinda dismissive too . Lately whenever someone say anything about a kinect game , they automatically assume , you dont know what you are talking about .

Anyway yeah , i do think Dance central is better .

radphil5466d ago (Edited 5466d ago )

"Aside from Kinect Sports and maybe Dance Central I don't see a lot of competition for a game like this in this particular category."

There's a lot that have appeared out for this category.
This is the listing for the finalists.

"Enslaved (Ninja Theory)
Brink (Splash Damage)
Bulletstorm (People Can Fly)
Kinect Sports (Rare)
Kinectimals (Frontier)"

I mean I would have put Dance Central on that listing if anything. Like what Baka said, there's more deserving games.

The other funny thing, is that people say it's innovative from the technical aspect, and yet it's not on the TECHNICAL INNOVATION listing? For that matter how does that even work on that listing: it has the Kinect, and then a game?

"TECHNICAL INNOVATION
Havok Mobile (Havok)
Kinect (Microsoft Research Cambridge)
Kinect Sports (Rare) <-----
Path of Go AI (Microsoft Research Cambridge)
PlayStation Move (SCEE Vision R&D/User Testing Team/Creative Development Group)
Razor for NGP (SN Systems/SCE R&D)
Unreal Engine (Epic Games)"

The bottom line I'm getting at, is how much thought is put into these choices? And how much of an influence is hidden behind the scenes.

gamingdroid5466d ago (Edited 5466d ago )

From the list, it is pretty clear why Kinectimals won. I mean, Brink, Bulletstorm and Enslaved are decent games. I particularly enjoyed Bulletstorm myself for the humor and change in game play, but all those games (except for small maybe Bulletstorm) are traditional nothing special new ips. There is nothing new or exciting about them.

There is a lot of technology going behind the scene. Kinect Sports not only uses Kinect technology, but also does it well.

Just because you use Kinect doesn't mean it will be great, it is what else they do and arguably Kinect Sports is one of those games that require the software to adapt to a host of different environments. If you can have software on the list (i.e. Unreal Engine) then I see no reason you can't have a game which IS SOFTWARE.....

radphil5466d ago (Edited 5466d ago )

"If you can have software on the list (i.e. Unreal Engine) then I see no reason you can't have a game which IS SOFTWARE....."

Except those are tools and/or accessories, not gaming needs. There's a reason why that listing is under TECHNOLOGY & SERVICES not CREATIVITY.

It would be like them listing Unreal Engine 3 then having UT3 under there as well.

For that matter, if there was also under technological advances, then they would have had the LA Noire team as well.

gamingdroid5466d ago

"For that matter, if there was also under technological advances, then they would have had the LA Noire team as well. "

So it really boils down to you not liking their choices...

With that said, LA Noire probably isn't on the list because it wasn't released at the time of consideration.

radphil5466d ago

"So it really boils down to you not liking their choices...
"

No I'm talking about the technological advances they did within the gaming industry.

If i was worried about their choices, I would have said LA Noire should have been part of Best new IP.

Even the most die hard kinect fans gotta admit it's facepalm worthy .

that you'd consider it good , great even , fine , why not .

But this is ridiculous in the face of every other new ips of the year

yeah all of them PS3 titles i bet

Kinectimals Review | AppGamer

Since the beginning of time, man has sought to dominate the creatures of the wild, while children have tried their hardest to squish out their fuzziness. Owning a real animal requires time, patience and frequent carpet cleanings; while for the low price of $2.99 on Google Play and iOS and little heavy lifting, Microsoft Studios brings you an adorable (virtual) wild animal of your very own.

Kitten Assassins and The Top 10 Cats in Games

Cats and kittens are the fuel that keeps the Internet muttering “Aww,” and flooding every social media channel available with adorable, fluffy overload until Cute Induced Cardiac Arrest is the inevitable result. Everything is better with cats. The Earth itself knows this, as it allowed a huge rock to kill off all those ugly, scaly dinosaurs just to make way for cats. Unfortunately, it’s logistically impossible for cats to be everywhere, but that doesn’t mean we have to live with this situation. For example, when we get our hands on Unity in November, Arno and his band of Assassins will be stupid, regular old humans.
