sonic was best when it was 2d, it wasnt bad with sonic adventure 1 and 2, but the rest were meh.

sorta like mario, horrible transition to 3d. I know alot of people mario now, but nothing beats the original mario, and super mario world games. tho New super mario bros was good

I personally think that it was never fun. In my childhood I owned a SNES, where as my friend owned a SEGA. I never really enjoyed Sonic as much as his counterparts (aka Mario/Earthworm Jim/James Pond (LOL)). But hey it wouldn't have gotten to where it is if others didn't enjoy it.

Honestly, the Sonic Advance games for the GBA were the last Sonic games I truly enjoyed.

Sonic 3 + Knuckles. THE BEST SONIC GAME EVER... PERIOD.

16 bit Sonic. Unfortunately for the franchise, the speed of the game hasn't translated well to modern graphics. The classic 16 bit Sonic games will always have special place in my heart. I just wish the people behind the more recent games would just stop trying to reinvent the wheel. Let us run left to right, jump on Robotnik's robots, save the animals, collect rings and throw us a decent special stage or two.

Sounds like a lot of people only like the old Sonic games out of nostalgia.

I like most sonic games, and I still play Sonic 1/2/3+K to this day but my favorite was Sonic 2.

sonic never was fun; only the colors on screen were anything close to likable. proof? go play the sonic that was released on psn and tell me how fun that "game" is.

sonic 1,2 were awesome, after that it was all downhill.

the two sonic adventure games were pretty fun, sonic colors is very fun too..

just counting 3d console games, half the games were very fun:

adventures - fun
adventures 2 - fun
heroes - not fun
2006 - not fun
unleashed - not fun
colors - fun

a 50% margin, the rush games on the ds were pretty decent too...

Sounds like a lot of people here didn't play Sonic till the Dreamcast+ age. Go back to the genesis day sonics and have some real fun.

1991, 1994, 1998, 2001, 2002, 2008 with the daytime levels, 2010, Come on now, there were a lot of fun years for him even with the bad apples.

I have my share of franchises that I was disappointed in as well, but I'm not gonna deny any of the years that they were fun either. This article doesn't seem to do that, so I disgress. Let's hope future years can put to rest some of these "questions" of The series' appeal.

Sonic should have died long ago. Not only are his games becoming more and more terrible but he has totally fueled tons of disgusting furries to become even more disgusting.
