IGN: How do you follow up on a unique and successful fighting game? If you're Nintendo, you do it by making absolutely everything bigger and shinier, of course. Super Smash Bros. Melee was one of GameCube's most important titles. Despite releasing stateside on December 3, 2001, just missing the launch of the purple lunchbox, many would argue it was the showcase title for the new system.

Now you're playing with power, legal power!

A mix of first-party and third-party GameCube games should be available on Nintendo Switch 2's app.

All of the Super Smash Bros. games are incredible, but which one stands as the mightiest of them all and has the best modes?
To me smash brows Melee is my all time favorite. I can't tell you how many hours I played that game between friends and family. When I was a kid, my parents couldn't afford a gaming console so I had to go somewhere that had an arcade like setup with the only difference being instead of arcade cabinets, they had big screen crt TV's and gaming consoles setup. I would go with my friends on special occasions after school or with my family on the weekends.
I would meet and make new friends at that place as we were all gamers and we also brought our game boys and would trade pokemon. I don't think those places exist these days but back then, it was easy to meet like-minded people and have fun for hours.
Well, I’ll add my extremely subjective ranking too. I won’t include the 3DS version as I don’t owned it. I did play it for a few minutes though.
5. Brawl.
4. N64 Smash
3. Ultimate
2. Wiiu Smash
1. Melee
One of the best games of last gen. I spent hours playing it on the Cube. =]
IGN has been riding Smash Bros here lately...
Do you think they are trying to tell us something?
*things that make you go hmmm*
I'm hoping for a reveal at E3 this year along with a big character reveal.
Perhaps Mario is walking along the Mushroom Kingdom when a servbot hops out of a pipe, they lock eyes then Mario is knocked down with a ball of energy. He picks up his hat and dusts himself off then looks up to see Megaman standing there.
All I'm sayin is that the squees would be deafening.
As you guys are hinting that there maybe another SSB game coming out for Project Cafe. lets really think about that for a second. lets look at SSBB. what did that game offer asides from newcomers? from my time playing it it was semi the same game with obvious balance/buff/nerf changes. Now here is a question; if a new SSB game is to come out. What new thing is it going to offer besides newcomers and new balance/buff/nerfs? it'd be awesome if they added a new mechanic like how melee enabled characters to dodge.
Now that I think about it, what is going to make that game standout from it's previous game?
in a side note: whose gonna be in the next SSB game? my money is on King K. Rool.
