Alpha Protocol 2: The Cult Gamer

TitanReviews Writes: There was just something about that game that screamed brilliance. An espionage RPG. A Mass Effect style timed interactive character interaction system? Great. The ability to customize your type of agent? Awesome. Options for stealth infiltration or full on assault? How could it go wrong?

Im debating on whether to pick this up or not. I know i can pick it up for a steal.

Kon5481d ago

The game is horrible. The levels are so generic, i couldn't play it for more than an hour.

christheredhead5481d ago

if you're already debating the issue id recommend you pick up the game. if you go into the game knowing it wont be a triple a, huge budget, perfect 10, amazing game then you will enjoy it. its not necessarily a bad game just poorly executed in certain aspects but i still found it decent. its fairly cheap now and its a pretty entertaining game that fell a little short of the mark.

I tend to think people who hated the game got it for the action, which is tbh pretty bad in all honesty.

People who can find good things to say about usually praise the more RPG-like aspects. I especially like how they made information gathering just as important as battle skills.

Given the chance, Obsidian could definitely improve the game to something better.

I rather enjoyed Alpha Protcol but I didn't think it done well enough to justify a sequel, seems I was wrong. Will pick this up when it comes out.

Tony P5481d ago

Unfortunately, this isn't an announcement of AP2. This is just riffing off the designer's comment that he'd like to make a sequel one day.

Sega said in the past that they wouldn't order a sequel... but minds change, hopefully.

jetlian5481d ago

wasn't that bad. Its a true action rpg which most gamers now want to be easy! By the end of the game it plays like a standard shooter

SquareEnixFan5481d ago

I wouldn't hesitate for one second before buying a sequel to Alpha Protocol. It was by no means an elite game but I really enjoyed it.

Jack-H5481d ago

I've said this elsewhere but I was really intrigued when I heard of the first one. Obviously(or maybe not) when reviews came out they deterred me from getting it. I would DEFINITELY be interested in a sequel though.

One of the few 7th gen game that I'll full heartedly support for a remake.
Its a very unique RPG and deserves its faults fixed the 2nd time.

TheNamelessOne698d ago

I would be so for this. Alpha Protocol is the definition of a diamond in the rough. Before being acquired by Microsoft, Obsidian presented their ideas for a sequel, multiple times, but were always shot down. Even something simple like a remaster is very unlikely.

ZeekQuattro698d ago

Still have a physical copy for my PS3. Clunky at times but I had a lot of fun with it back in the day.

Had some issues but that game was brilliant.

Spec Ops: The Line was super dark.

Incredible story.

SheenuTheLegend824d ago

all the games in the above list are bang on. this is the only reason we need backwards compatibility and physical presense of games for the upcoming future, no matter what.

Yi-Long825d ago

Honorable mention to the excellent Driveclub, one of the best racing games of all-time and one of my favourite games ever.

melons825d ago

yes! incredible rain effects; so good to drive along in rain with your Spotify playlist blaring

Skuletor824d ago

I really wanted a MotorStorm using the same engine, Driveclub is easily one of the best looking games on PS4 and I'm surprised they didn't even give it a PS4 Pro patch.

ravens52824d ago

Yes indeed. May just install it on my PS5. You know, physical copy and all.

monkey602824d ago

I adored Driveclub and the Bike expansion. I also loved Motorstorm. Evolution shutting down was a crime

Outrun Online Arcade, Sega Rally Online Arcade, After Burner Climax... all good stuff. I keep my 360 hooked up to play these as well as the TMNT games that were also delisted.

Skuletor824d ago

I have quite a few of these. Timed licenses suck.

Terry_B824d ago (Edited 824d ago )

wow...I have all of them except the Nintendo ones either in physical or digital version.

Also..Deadpool the Game is missing on that list.
