GameJudgment's Patrick O'Rourke says,

"LA Noire is a truly original game; I’ve never played a title like it and I don’t think I will again any time soon - it does have some flaws though"

Really great game, it has flaws though. I'm curious if other gamers have the same feelings about LA Noire that I did.

Interesting review, short and to the point. I tend to agree with most of the points you made in it as well.

LA Noire is an awesome game, I wish it had multiplayer though.

pat_11_55481d ago

Thanks man. I tend to agree, I sort of feel like Rockstar waisted the awesome open world LA they created in this game.

Then again LA Noire was never supposed to be an open world game, it's all about the story and an awesome narrative.

Rockstar did not make L.A. Noir.

And personally, I think the biggest problem was the lack of unlockables. You level up, but levelling up doesn't do anything. You can unlock new suits, but there are only 5 to unlock, and you get them all less than 1/3rd through the game (and they all look the same).

I do have high hopes for a potential sequel, however. If they can expand upon Noir's strengths and avoid making some of the same mistakes (like those awful Homocide desk cases) we could easily find ourselves with one of the best new IPs of this generation.

pat_11_55481d ago

I'm hoping we see a sequel as well. The lack of unlockables is kind of silly. I'm hoping the game sells well enough to warrant a sequel.

I'm interested in the upcoming DLC. I have this crazy idea that Rocksat should make a full fledged expansion pack that focuses on a dirty cop. It would be a lot of fun to play as a corrupt cop.

xhedleyx5481d ago

Very true. I have a few friends that didn't pick up the game specifically because it doesn't have multiplayer. It's a shame they're missing out on a really original video game.

I hate this idea that all games need multiplayer, this is a long game and has alot of value.

Xof5481d ago

I agree.

BUT you have to realize that a game like L.A. Noir has the mechanics and game world and setting perfect for multiplayer. Come on: Cops versus Robbers. Tell me you wouldn't love that.

Have two teams, and I dunno... 4 to 10 different places to rob (banks, museums, etc.) and force each team to coordinate to either make the robbery or prevent it. If implemented well, it could be amazing.

xhedleyx5481d ago

@Xof

That's exactly what I'm saying. I don't think all games need multiplayer but LA Noire's game world seems to be begging for it.

@ Xof =
I really don't see this as a multiplayer... it would almost kill the atmosphere

Simon_Brezhnev5480d ago

Hell i didnt pick it up because i cant be a corrupt cop i hate being a goody 2 shoes.

pat_11_55480d ago

Cole Phelps does get pretty annoying at times, he's so intent on always doing what's right.

Tripl3seis5481d ago

Hopefully McNamara is as far away from this as possible he set up shop in Australia then did nothing but complain about Australian labour laws while trying to make his workers live at the office working 24/7 on la noire punishing them for leaving at 3 am and being 10 minutes late to work at 9am the next day.

It's astonishing that none of the workers went to the fair work ombudsman as the studio would have been fined astronomical numbers

Brendan McNamara is a brilliant writer and director but he should never, ever be in charge of a studio. What he did to those devs was far beyond "crunch", and it went on for, what, 7 years? That's insane.

But I'm glad to see some of that team have come together again to create something new. A psychological thriller sounds right up my alley.

I would have liked to see a new noir game.
