Hello Ladies and Gentleman! We interrupt your regularly scheduled blog posting to bring you this important public service announcement:

PANIC

A wide spread plague has hit the gaming world and the repercussions of this epidemic could mean the end for video gaming.

The “Half-assed” virus, or HA for short, is a 6 stage virus that attacks the hearts of gamers with the possibility of causing lethal reactions for the infected victims. This HA virus is manufactured by a group calling themselves “The Developers”. The following are the stages of the HA epidemic.

devs are plain lazy these days

Tony P5486d ago (Edited 5486d ago )

Um... some, mabye?

I think there are some devs who don't put all they can into projects, but the article doesn't really make any distinctions. Like "all" devs do this or something, which is totally not the case.

Lots of Devs lack the vision and skill to really push a game to "OMG it's better than life itself levels" and end up making a crappy product but you can't ALWAYS fault the Devs cause....

Most of the time it's the Publisher who is to blame for a crappy Game. The Publisher controls how much cash gets spent, how much dev time is used, and most of the time they force Devs to release early than what was planned or make stupid changes (stapled on MP or Co-Op are the new favorites). All this can cause a good idea and vision to quickly turn into Haze oops I mean crap.

It takes a perfect relationship between a good Publisher and great Devs to make a classic game. Take Blizzard for example (I hate to use them but) these clowns took 10 years to make SC2 and they work for the hated Bobby Kotick but their Dev/Pub relationship is almost perfect. Blizzard does what they feel is good for gamers and Bobby stays the hell out of the way. This results in great great games and support.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit31d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing31d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9231d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
