A brutal reset, a smarter story, and a return to what made it great—Mortal Kombat (2011) revived the series.
15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.

A new book detailing the artwork of the franchise has been announced
Let me fix this title to something less click baity for you:
New Book: Mortal Kombat: Flawless Victory Announced.
I grew up on this stuff. Adding it to the art collection!
I do hope the next MK iteration goes back to the core of what made these characters appeal in the first place. A few of them lost their edge - I think I've had enough with some of the auntie designs 😂
Now, with most games these days, live service included, comes the inclusion of microtransactions. In Helldiver 2's case, these come in the form of Warbonds and the superstore. Some of them were a hit, others were a miss. But one of the superstore items that have sparked interest is the Killzone set. While this is nice, this would have much better served as a warbond. Putting it in the superstore comes off as greedy, but that's an issue for another video. More to the point, the Killzone franchise fanbase had taken note, and it sparked renewed interest in wanting the series to be revived.
Not unless they come up with some amazing marketing campaign otherwise it will just perform as bad as Halo these days.
Good article.
I was actually pondering this kind of thing myself recently as I have been playing Bayonetta during the PSN outage. I enjoyed the boss fights against Jeanne, who was basically your equal with a similar set of moves, because it felt more skillful than when fighting the massive bosses who required a pre-set attack pattern to beat. Likewise in GOW3 I found the Hercules battle to be more fun than any of the Titan or God fights which again just required a set attack pattern.
I think the best boss battle for it's time is The End in MGS Snake Eater.
Hideo really played with my mind. For the first 5 minutes I kept second guessing if I was actually in a boss battle or not. It was completely unique.
Boss battles are a big turn off for me its too predictable.
