Chinese PLA develop sim with Americans as enemy, Americans upset

How many games can you recall playing where China was the enemy? Remember mowing down Chinese troops in Battlefield 2? Well get ready to switch sides as a new game out of China puts players in the shoes of a member of the People's Liberation Army(PLA) to fight off American Combatants. Entitled Glorious Mission, the first person shooter is causing a stir amongst American commentators.

Anyone who complains and has never complained about x number of shooters where you play as an American is a hypocrite.

Scrotie_McBoogerball5479d ago

I know what you mean.

Did this look kinda like COD to you?

iamnsuperman5479d ago (Edited 5479d ago )

Operation flashpoint has the PLA as the enemy. Does that teach us that the PLA are the enemy. NO

These american commentators need to grow up. So what if the Americans are the enemy it isn't real.

edit only China would train its officers with a computer game. What about doing war games like the rest of the world. Quite effective in simulating battles and also makes the officers think more on their feet

PirateThom5479d ago

That was my first thought actually, it's COD with different protagonists. Honestly, I wouldn't play it, not because of the content, just because I don't care for CoD games.

Scrotie_McBoogerball5479d ago

I think I would find it hard with the language barriers to play this game lol.

Scrotie_McBoogerball5479d ago

@iamnsuperman

I happen to know the US, UK, Russia and Germany all use "games" to train their soldiers at some point. This tech is used heavily in the air force training pilots and for tank captain/crews. Also for large scale navy training as well.

And I am not sure if you are an American or not but us Australians have a fair bit of defense co-op with the Chinese.

BattleAxe5479d ago

@ PirateThom

This is a bit different since its not a Chinese company like a DICE or an Infinity Ward making this game, its the PLA making this game, and I think that there is alot of foreshadowing of future events going on.

When the USA crashes, then I think you'll see a more aggressive tone from China. The U.S. just hit their debt ceiling which means that the can't borrow anymore money, and so now they are running the government by taking money out of the national pension fund. Personally i think WW3 is just around the corner, and the Chinese are making no secret about it.

The funny thing is, is that we even have games where we can kill our own soldiers. Nothing important here, lets move one.

On a side note -- Where does the article say which Americans are upset? As far as I know, people who know about this aren't ignorant enough to think its a big deal.

arjman5479d ago

Lol American's need to learn that if you play with matchesm you're gonna get burnt

Tony P5479d ago

I wouldn't mind at all if it was just a game. But being a military sponsored training tool makes you wonder.

As long as it is the U.S and not the U.K I'm happy.

iamnsuperman5479d ago

We never will be. The UK has a fantastic well trained army but economically and military personnel numbers wise we are little threat.

CynicalVision5479d ago

"economically"

The UK is one of the richest countries in the world (6th in the world).

China is second with almost 4 times as much as the UK. This article is about China and the UK is no economic threat. China is the next big super power on the block and is in a position to take over America by 2020 http://blog.euromonitor.com...

It's common sense that PLA serves a dictatorial power, this very army kills thousands of chinese students at tiananmen Square in 1989. I really wouldn't mind fighting this army in a video game.

mrv3215479d ago

In the 1920's America kept it's segregation laws, in the 1980's it helped Al-Queda, it carpet bombed an entire city of innocent civillians, only country to use a Nuclear Weapon on a civillian population, denied Jewish ships from coming to America after escaping Germany, use African Americans as suicide squads. It created a war which resulted in 100,000 civillian deaths, and for what? WMD is didn't find? Bin Laden? Who hasn't been in charge since 2004.

So would you also not mind fighting the American army ;)

I have no issue with Americans, they seem like nice people, however I have a problem with them attacking other peoples history without looking at theirs.

godsinhisheaven5479d ago

i really don't. and btw i'm from China ;)

Emilio_Estevez5479d ago (Edited 5479d ago )

Sweet, now we can make China the enemy in games again, w/o someone crying(opposing forces anyone?)....TBH, I'm American and I don't care at all.
