Why is PS3 getting the port of a PSP title and not it's own game? Also,

Monster Hunter Tri > Monster Hunter Portable 3rd

slinky1234565458d ago

Seriously make a whole new game no reason for a port.

Godmars2905458d ago

Capcom = lazy but generally good game company.

Besides - or in addition to - what would justify a PS3 version other than something with open world elements? Honestly, Capcom just isn't that skilled.

Personally this is some of the best news I've heard in a long, long time. Especially as a Monster Hunter fan. This BETTER come to the U.S.

Granted, I would obviously prefer a true PS3 Monster Hunter. But the fact is Capcom have pretty much become sellouts, especially with the Monster Hunter series. For some reason they refuse to make a true PS3 Monster Hunter. But as a Monster Hunter fan, graphics aren't all that important to me. It's the hunt I love, and creating new weapons and armor pieces.

Monster Hunter on PS2 is pretty much my favorite game of all time. Between my 3 characters I had over 1600 hours just online. Best co-op game ever made. And while the PSP versions were all superior content wise, I just didn't like playing on PSP. It made my hands cramp after like 30 minutes and MH is a game I like playing for hours on end. Not to mention lack of online play, I just don't enjoy the experience solo.

If this comes to the U.S. you can consider it already sold. I'm just praying that since they are optimizing for PS3, they put attacks back on the right analog stick, and not just keep it on triangle and circle. If they release this in the U.S., Capcom will have gotten back at least SOME of all my repect they've lost over this console generation.

gaffyh5458d ago

Better than nothing, if it does well, maybe we'll see a full game.

because they found out that MH game is only work on portable.

having ps3 version allow you to play better quality graphic in 3D.

then continue it on the bus by transferring to PSP.

plus people want HD MH anyway

wwm0nkey5458d ago

"MH game is only work on portable." No, just no

Etseix5458d ago

why is rrw getting disagrees, theres another article saying SONY will have a psp series for ps3 so you can play them on ps3 and continue ur game on the go, its eexactky what he said,

damn, N4G at night has more ignorant people.

StbI9905458d ago (Edited 5458d ago )

Because it is supposed to have cross saving? or because you could play it through your psp then ps3 then psp while on vacation then back to ps3 while laid bed?...

Say again about the wii version bound to be better lol? because obviously it is not, only with the fact of cross ssharing saves, portable 3rd win.

Edit, Darkcharizard with 3 bubbles, and obviously using them to downplay sonys enthralling moves, what a surprise eh?

9thGenHero5458d ago

I'd love to hear your argument for that, honestly Monster Hunter Freedom Unite DESTROYS Tri already in scope and content, I don't see how Tri> 3rd...

xAlmostPro5458d ago

It's because according to capcom the budget would be to high to make a ps3 monster hunter. Even though they bring out multiple other titles that are going down hill on the platform..

Anyways, a port allows them to bring the title to ps3 at a low cost.. should still be cool :D i'll buy it, they know its in huge demand for the psp so if loads sell on ps3 it will increase the chances of a new game being made for the console :D (most likely one for the ps3 & ngp)

Megaton. I cant even imagine how many units this is going to move in Japan.

DarkCharizard_5458d ago (Edited 5458d ago )

Not too many, since everyone bought the game last year...

EDIT

Actually, THEY'RE insane if they would buy the whole game again just to see it on a big screen wearing a pair of goofy goggles. I'd say make a whole new game, Cap!

Brian52475458d ago

You're insane if you think fans of the series wouldn't be just as delighted to play this game both at home and on the road.

Ser5458d ago (Edited 5458d ago )

Color me insane!

I would also like for Crapcon to make a completely new Monster Hunter designed specifically for the PS3. But, sooner or later, I must realize that this isn't dreamland.

Etseix5458d ago

Monster Hunter for NGP will certainly have incredible graphics so you people dont complain about being ported or not, i said it first!

9thGenHero5458d ago

This has the potential to outsell the PSP version... You underestimate this Japanese market, don't be an ungrateful gamer, I bet you'll buy the game after all the trash talk :P

zep5458d ago

Actually, THEY'RE insane if they would buy the whole game again

Pokemon series Gotta Catch 'Em All
Street Fighter like 2 and 4 so many versions

Finally a Monster Hunter game on Ps3, just wonder how long we'll have to wait to get it in the states.

TheHater5458d ago

Its disappointed because of the lack of a true "online" feature to the HD remake. Excited that we are finally getting a MH game on the PS3. Hopefully the sales was prompt Capcom to make a true MH game design for the PS3.

Larry L5458d ago

Well Ad-Hoc party pretty much gives you all the basic features you'd need. Including voice chat, which alone is big considering Monster Hunter on PS2, while my favorite online game of all time, had the MAJOR flaw of no voice chat....only text.

Just being able to hunt online again, with a dual shock controller is enough to put a smile on my face. Is it the ideal circumstances? No. But it still makes me happy as a true Monster Hunter fan going back to the original.

kuge4565458d ago

It will sell in JP,Tri is disappointed.
Even a HD remake will sell better than tri.

No worry,somebody.

wwm0nkey5458d ago

Actually Tri is preferred because most people felt Portable 3rd was a bit too easy. Still sold 4.5m units in Japan but people still think its easy.

Knushwood Butt5458d ago

Judging from the sales, literally millions of people prefer 3rd...

Dir_en_grey5458d ago

wwm0nkey is probably trying to say 2ndG instead of Tri.

Tri was just a testing version for 3rd with no weapons.

But I do agree 3rd is too easy. Knowing capcom they'll do a dlc of 3rdG/HD after they milk 3rdHD though.

wwm0nkey5458d ago

I just hope the beef up the difficultly on this on the PS3 since we have dual analog support now.

Pamphlet lists Final Fantasy X, other Vita titles for North America

A retail pamphlet, supposedly sent out by Sony, lists Final Fantasy X, a Monster Hunter title, and Lord of Apocalypse for North America.

Very interesting. I wanted to play Lord of Apocalypse and Final Fantasy X on my Vita so this news gets me pumped up.

Ranma15228d ago (Edited 5228d ago )

Anyone else think FF10 was the last great FF??

sloth33955228d ago

i thought 12 was good too

knifefight5228d ago

XII and Type-0 are supergood. ^_^

Misterhbk5228d ago

Final Fantasy X and Monster Hunter confirmed for NA?

I like it! Take my money Sony, SE and Capcom!

Larry L5228d ago

IDK if 10 was the last good FF, but it was the last FF I really loved. But while I hated 12 at the time because I wasn't really controlling my party like old FFs, I'd almost like to go back and revisit 12 at some point after LOVING Dragon Age Origins (and 2 to a lesser extent), because now I got the idea of programming tactics properly which I didn't even CARE to learn back in the FF12 days. I won't go ba ck and play 12 now, but if they do a HD remake/remaster of that around the end of this generation, I'd probably pick it up just to see if I enjoy it more now that I was forced to learn and come to enjoy programming tactics for my party.

As for this Monster Hunter for Vita, I have to assume it's the same exact game that's coming for PS3, and they'll probably release the same day. The MHP3HD game. Though here obviously it will be called MHF3HD. I'm a HUGE Monster Hunter fan. MH on PS2 is my favorite online game of all time. And I am getting a Vita. But truth be told I've always prefered Monster Hunter from my couch with a dual shock in my hand, not a PSP or even a Vita. If I'm right and it's the same game for PS3 and Vita, I will be getting the PS3 version for sure.

Though I admit I am disappointed they didn't bring back the original right analog stick attacking now that Vita has the right stick now and this game is going to be on PS3 as well.

Ranma15228d ago (Edited 5228d ago )

FF10 was last FF to have an FF standard sotry, that is an epic story.

I did not think the story of FF12 and FF13 were epic, or even good, they were mediocre . SE needs to hire proper script writers.

SpaceFox5228d ago

Can't wait, FFX HD is one of the main reasons I want a Vita. They need to release a trailer or at least some screenshots.

MasterCornholio5228d ago

I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Vita gets a monster Hunter game. But what surprises me is that if that's true why hasn't capcom announced it yet?

Kurisu5228d ago

Monster Hunter Portable 3 was announced quite some time ago, but then the status of it went unknown after Monster Hunter 4 got announced.

sloth33955228d ago

when the Vita was first shown Capcom said they are working on a downloadable version of Portable 3rd so it can be played on it

Studio-YaMi5228d ago (Edited 5228d ago )

if that list is true
my head is gonna explode....

I was really bothered by the (almost fact) that most of these titles which were launched in Japan wouldn't reach the states ! if this news could be trusted, then I have a ray of hope ;___; ....

Ddouble5228d ago

I'm happy Monster Hunter is coming. I can finally see what all the fuss is about. Still not sure which platform to get FFX on though. Might get it on both if it supports transfarring.

No Ragnarok Odyssey, Tales of Innocence and Final Fantasy Type-0 is dissapointing though.

Import Review: Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD | Otaku Gaming

Sam from Otaku Gaming writes: "What it does, it does well. I wish that there was a stronger following outside of Japan, because the Monster Hunter series is just a blast of fun every time I pick it up, but, at the same time, the lack of innovation and a lackluster graphic update lowers the final score for me."

The necessity of HD Remakes: Do we really want pretty rehashes?

Ben G of VideoGameOlogists.com writes:

"As I’ve been looking through the releases of the next few months, as well as those of September, October and November, I’ve noticed that a couple of them are HD remakes of games that many gamers enjoyed during their original time (Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, Devil May Cry HD Collection, etc.). It’s because of this that a major question comes to mind – Are these remakes really necessary? Is it really no longer possible to go back to older systems and enjoy the games we once loved in their original graphics? Does everything truly need to be HD for people to enjoy it now?"

Well i been saying it all along, however console fans argue otherwise and mostly they are just being fanboish and trying to protech their platform of choice even though it may cost them.

I feel console gamers need to ask for true BC along with HD remakes. Personally as a PC gamer i can play games from the last 20 years. There are many ways to play old games, be it Dosbox, Virtualbox. Hell even older console games run on the PC without issue.

It would be a real loss to console gamers if the next consoles didnt run games which were purchased on current consoles. Imo i think people have bought thousands of USD worth of software on current consoles and not being able to play those next gen would be a real loss. Now i know some of you are going to scream we can own older consoles too, yes you can however how many older boxes are going to own and how many times are you going to replace the ones that die? In the end the best solution is to have proper BC. Current gen games already look very good and i think not being able to play those on the next box would be a real loss.

Alos885269d ago

Wait, are you advocating piracy?

T9005269d ago (Edited 5269d ago )

Nope, people should only play what they own.

However i am advocating that console gamers stand up for their rights and demand BC, or pretty soon they may find themselves having to buy remakes of remakes that they bought for their current consoles, imagine having to buy HD remake of God of war 1 - 3 again on PS4

bozebo5269d ago (Edited 5269d ago )

"demand BC"

Not always possible though. The whole point in console hardware is them being able to make a custom solution to fit exactly what is optimal at that point in time, so it can be pricy or impossible to allow backwards compatibility. The jump in hardware from PS2/Xbox to PS3/360 was so huge that they either had similar architecture (360 and xbox are practically PCs) or the older architecture was very cheap to include in the new model (BC PS3s basically have the vital PS2 chips/components inside them).

"Nope, people should only play what they own."

There are a lot of older games which are impossible to purchase, and many that can be purchased doesn't mean the money goes to whoever deserves it (like if you buy second hand or if the IP was nabbed by a big evil publisher after they cut the developer down to shreds and left its staff jobless). So sometimes piracy is fine (only when it is victimless or the "victim" is just holding the IP for undeserved profits). Maybe if you can track down a developer's spiritual successor you could send them cash to buy lunch with or something :P Would probably get posted on their twitter.

On another note, HD Remakes allow a lot more people to experience a game that is deserving of said remake. Like if Morrowind was remade - it would sell almost as much as Skyrim, if not more (most people playing skyrim right now have never played an elder scrolls game before). Though, in some cases a direct remake isn't the best option (most people hate the "you hit but the game said you missed" mechanic for example).

IMHO most of the best games that will ever exist have already come out, a lot of people would say the same thing about movies some time ago - but when a movie is remade there is a significant chance that it wont properly represent the original and could be a flop - with games however, its like they have the original actors but with new cameras and techniques - so remakes can modernise a game without killing what made it so good.

blackburn105269d ago (Edited 5269d ago )

Sigh. Never got to play ICO or SOTC when I had a PS2. Now they are together, on one disc, in HD, WITH trophies. Why should I go back to the original? Buy a PS2 and go back to the original if you want but please don't deny me the option to play an updated version.

This gen is so selfish. Don't buy the remakes if you don't want to but stop the 'no more remakes garbage'. Sly and ICO/SOTC remakes haven't stopped or slowed down the sequels of these games. We still have LG and Sly 4 coming our way.Go look in every dusty store to find these games to play originally if you want but leave us HD remake gamers out of it. Some of us perfer a better looking version of an older game rather then playing the same choppy, low res, blurry version. Okami was beautiful but Okami HD would dazzle your eyes. Keep all options open.

Relientk775269d ago

I would rather have new IPs and new games, then remakes of games anyday. I don't feel like paying for a game I already own, again just because my ps3 doesnt play ps2 games, or now it looks a little better and has trophies.

Abriael5269d ago (Edited 5269d ago )

yes we do. If you don't want, don't buy. What's earned with the "pretty rehashes" at least partly goes to be reinvested into new games.

Dead horse is dead horse.

TopDudeMan5269d ago

I'd love to see a major re-working of the pokemon series. The games are still awesome, but it'd be nice if the aesthetics were different ie 3d models instead of sprites.
