IGN: The 3DS launch was something of a catastrophe. What made it quite so bad? And can Nintendo make up for it in the future?

FuRyu revealed on Friday its Exstetra fantasy role-playing game is getting an HD remaster that will launch this summer on Steam.

NE: "We rank the 10 best main series Super Mario games in celebration of the recent MAR10 Day with 2D and 3D included."
Best 2D, Mario World, best 3D, Mario 64. Can't say there's been a bad one, although Mario World 2 wasn't a true sequel. The Mario Land games were good (not the first one) and also Wario Land. I thought after Mario 64, Mario 3D World was excellent.

A new amiibo has its release date from Nintendo, and pre-orders have started revealing the price and how it's the most expensive figure ever.
I must admit, they did botch the launch pretty bad. Not a single first party title worth purchasing.

Failed launch, sure. If anyone thinks Nintendo's losing a bit of sleep over the 3DS launch, they're out of their gourds. Sure, they launched below their sales figures. Whatever. They knew their launch lineup wasn't good - I'm not sure why they started so early, but they all know that once the first Mario title appears, the thing will print money again. In 3D.
Personally, I can't wait until developers get in gear (or Nintendo lets them get in gear), because I'm sure we'll see a triumphant return to old-school form from my favorite publisher at the moment, Atlus, plus some new title from Team Meat (not for everyone, sure, but Super Meat Boy's one of my favorites), and that Kid Icarus game that looks much like one of my favorite franchises, Sin and Punishment.
The writers are delusional if they think the Big N needs to "make it up" to anyone; people purchased the thing knowing full well that Nintendo would soon milk their franchises again, and the fans would all benefit in some way.
Give it time. I do however am a bit surprised it didn't sell like hot cakes as i thought it would sofar.
The 3DS is good, I'm pretty sure it'll do it great for the next years... but, at this time, I dont see many games I want to buy. Maybe SF IV, but that's all.
