Fable III review (BeefJack.com)

BeefJack: "It’s become something of a running gag that Microsoft’s Xbox 360 developer tools include a big red button marked “Make PC Port”. If there’s even a sliver of truth to it, then Lionhead Studios have wisely refused the easy route with the PC version of Fable III. This latest iteration has been comprehensively overhauled since its outing on console, and what remains is every inch a PC game."

"It’s worth it, though. Even on reasonable settings, the PC version far surpasses the console original visually. Textures are intricately detailed, while flesh looks ruddy and full of life. The quality of Lionhead’s character design is finally given full expression at high resolution settings"

true of every multiplat game on pc.....this is a big reason to game on pc, also, the freaking witcher 2 is goty, and the best rpg in YEARS imo

Janitor5467d ago (Edited 5467d ago )

Yeah yeah yeah we get it. Jesus, I'm so surprised your $2,000 gaming rig has better textures than my $300 console. Game sucks BTW

xTruthx5467d ago

lol 2 thousand dollar rig ? Hes a good example of a person that doesn't know anything about pc gaming.

death2smoochie5467d ago (Edited 5467d ago )

$2000 PC. LMFAO.
Good one. Maybe in 2001....
You can build a gaming PC for under $800 that will run circles around all these consoles.
Where is this $2000 and over for a PC coming from?

http://pc.ncix.com/ncixpc/

http://www.maximumpc.com/ar... (And that's from 2009)

http://www.ibuypower.com/St...

Sorry dude. That MYTH that gaming PC's cost $2000+ is rubbish. Obviously your a console only gamer.
When you add in the cost of your HDTV (which all PC's can be hooked up too also) with the cost of your console, that price becomes 3 times as much as a $700 desktop gaming rig....just saying

Ranshak5467d ago

Lol janitor while its clearly retarded to think people needed 2000usd rigs to play games on PC, 700-800usd is more like it (that too for a very good rig. Entry level rigs can be had for 500-700usd.

How about all the extra money spent on each game bought on console while being inferior in quality doesnt that count for anything?

Janitor5467d ago

OK, $800. Still too much IMO. Let's apply your argument to cars and see how silly you sound: "Man, my Viper is way faster and sexier than your Camry, why aren't you all driving a Viper?"

Ranshak5467d ago (Edited 5467d ago )

"OK, $800. Still too much IMO"

For 800usd you are getting a high end rig, which not only plays games it does much more work too, like editing videos, work, burning dvds, web browsing.

500usd machine will still beat consoles, so if you are comparing to console then 500usd is still more then enough.

In any case in the long run even a 800usd PC is cheaper then getting a console due to cheaper prices on games. That adds up very quickly against console, unless you intend to only buy 5-10 games on the console during its life time.

@below

yep its hypocracy at best when ps3 launched at 600usd the same ppl who complain about pc being expensive said its perfectly ok to pay 600usd for high end tech(when in fact ps3 was no where near high end when it launched).

Whats funny the same people who paid 600usd for the ps3 might not even be able to play their thousands usd worth of games on the next box, pc gamers though will continue to get the best of BC.

testerg355467d ago

Well considering that the PS3 launched at $600...$800 isn't that much more.

xTruthx5467d ago

Plus you get games cheaper

I would buy love to buy GWFL games if it werent that my Computer is to unstable playing games.

KRUSSIDULL5467d ago

I have this game on the Xbox 360 BTW and its decent. Peter has some good ideas but it feels like to game is still just decent.

news4geeks5467d ago

I think it may still require a GFWL login to play. If it does, hopefully someone will release a patch giving you the option to disable it.

multipayer5467d ago

Really, I built my computer 2 years ago for $300 with a gts250 + 3ghz dual core and it'll run this game better than 360... I have a 5770 graphics card now, so maybe I'll even squeeze some DX11 effects out. RPGs aren't very demanding.

I was hoping to get Fable 3 and all the expansions for free on pc, but seeing that $20 of DLC is available right now... http://www.gamesforwindows....

Great avatar btw, I miss playing conker live & reloaded online...

KRUSSIDULL5466d ago

I have a GeForce 220 GT (45NM tech) it works for most games. But I have had problems like overheating when playing Guild Wars (but i limited the games FPS to 60 so it should work now.

stealth500k5467d ago (Edited 5467d ago )

this game isnt a 9.5 game in my opinion

Anywhere between a 7-8.5 is probably more accurate. And thats ok those are goods scores.

But 9.5 should be reserved for the best of the best

KRUSSIDULL5467d ago

I agree with you on that its an 8 (X360) for me. I got plenty of playtime from it tough.

Fylus5467d ago

Okay, isn't this a bit of a late review? Ah well, I still think it's a great game. Fable I was by far the better of the series however.

LewisDenby5467d ago

The PC version is out today. Embargo only lifted 20 minutes ago.

Fylus5467d ago

Ah, I see. Thanks for clearing that for me. Bubble+

Dread5467d ago (Edited 5467d ago )

correction:
another great game that we share with our arrogant big baby brother PC.

I have been playing it for months before we started "sharing" it.

Fable II - A Fantasy Series at Peak Performance

Fable II launched back in 2008 and remains the best the series has offered. Ahead of the series comeback, it's time to look at the classic.

Crows901047d ago

They gotta bring back those gargoyles!

Dudeson1048d ago

I'd love to play it again, this time on pc though. Forever waiting on that pc port.

GaboonViper1047d ago

Loved this game, oh and i always saved my dog at the end, hope the new Fable has a animal companion.

got_dam1047d ago

Fable 2 was the best inthe series. Peter waaaaaaay over promised with fable 1 and it was good but disappointing. He didn't go crazy eith hype for the second game and it was surprisingly awesome. Then he ran his mouth promoting 3 and it was the worst of the 3.

cthulhucultist1047d ago

Funny story: Fable 3 had a funny way of keeping the promises you made in the first half of the game and having enough money to defeat the darkness.

You only had to collect enough money to buy 2 stores in a busy market district. You then raise the prices to maximum and you turn xbox 360 internal clock 99 or more years ahead.

The next time you load the game, all the rents from the 99 years are collected immediately.

But yes I agree that 3 was the weakest of the three.

Demetrius1047d ago

I only got to play it once 😩 I'm so tempted to buy a Xbox 360 slim but planning on getting the series x soon since I got a PS5 in February Im ready to get saints row 1&2 back, GTA 4, fable 2, but I also want to play infamous 1&2 again Sony screwed us over with the stream only for saints row 2 and other gems smh
