[citation needed] Or: Blake Snow is a hack

Conley writes: Over the weekend, Fox News freelancer Blake Snow declared the death of console gaming. In this instance the idiocy doesn’t come from the news outlet being Fox News so much as it does from it being a news outlet that has to provide some sort of update on a Saturday to keep clicks coming.

The thesis: mobile gaming is getting big, and according to “avid gamer” Mark Ormond, ”Why pay $50-60 for sequels of the same games on $300 machines when I can play newer experiences elsewhere in a lot less time — and for a lot less money — on devices I already use more?” He predicts that the next Wii will be the last traditional console: Sony and Microsoft will forgo “another traditional ‘game box’,” and focus on OnLive-style streaming.

Here’s the thing: who the hell is Mark Ormond?

I was wandering who he was or if he was real but still his information isn't credible. Anyone can quote me if you like because I am an avid gamer too and I think Console gaming is going to last. But then again no-one is as stupid of Fox news

"Still" his information isn't credible? The point of the article was that none of it should be, nor anything written by Blake Snow. I'm sure this sort of lazy "journalism" is common, but that doesn't make it right.

I don't agree with that. I WISH I could agree with that. But buying habits and customer opinions prove otherwise

We've seen developers in the AAA space try new things and ideas. More often than not, the customers aren't willing to give things a chance, or not enough people buy into the project for it to grow.

Creativity works better in the indie space because the budgets, pressures, and expectations aren't the same.

it's a nice idea and it worked during the PS2/PS3-era when AAA didn't cost hundreds of millions of dollars. smaller budgets and shorter development time left room for more creativity and more risk. a game didn't need to sell 4 million+ copies to break even. things are different now.

This is the guy who bragged about crunching his staff and having them work through the night. Crunch culture has lost more talent and done more damage to the industry than any other factor. Screw him.
