Do Developers Know Their Game Sucks?

There is nothing more upsetting than to be let down when a hyped-up game, with the potential to be a “triple A” title, turns out to be anything but.

This phenomena happens a lot. A really popular game with a lot of positive coverage and feedback finally sees retail release, and in a vicious Judas-like betrayal, the game receives a low or mediocre score.

I think they realise that but they keep hyping it because if it flops they will be out of a job.

I think out can sometimes be a case of being too close to a project to see it's flaws.

I certainly think this true of the recent fable titles. It becomes a labor of love and focus can be lost.
