
After holding a seminar at a Japanese university recently, Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune shared some rather interesting information about his former company, Capcom. He claimed that Capcom were only interested in producing sequels and they had a mantra whereby 70-80 percent of all games they made had to come under that umbrella. This was backed up with the revelation that Dead Rising and Lost Planet were initially rejected by Capcom as viable projects.

Capcom has clarified its current stance on generative AI in its videogames. The major Japanese publisher and developer behind popular series like Resident Evil, Street Fighter, and Monster Hunter has revealed that while it doesn't use gen-AI assets in their games, it is exploring ways to use generative AI to streamline the game development process.
Using Artificial Intelligence (more like Realistic Stupidity) art assets in your games is a great way to get people to boycott your product. We don't need that ugly, unsophisticated, generic, fake art in our games, good on CAPCOM for not using that garbage.

Damn no wonder he left but seriously capcom needs new ips and needs to stop milking their games.
I think most companies fall into this trap. It's not just Capcom.

go to sega, with games like vanquish and bayonetta...im pretty sure they would let him experiment with his artistic ideas
