Sony Has Been 'As Transparent As it Can Be,' says Capcom

Sony's handling of the PSN fiasco has been called into question by many, but Capcom has told IndustryGamers that the company has at least been fairly open in its communications with publishing partners. While Capcom is clearly upset about losing potentially "millions of dollars" in PSN-related revenues, VP Christian Svensson did say that Sony has been quite "transparent."

Only sensationalist blogs and "media" outlets, and your everyday troll has questioned Sony. I haven't read a single negative comment towards Sony from developers, publishers and retailers. Hell even Nintendo & M$ could have jumped on Sony but they haven't, they have been gracious because they know this could have happened to anyone. As a whole the gaming community stick together.

HK65508d ago

"...they know this could have happened to anyone."

So why hasn't it? Microsoft have been banning hackers/modders for a long time forcing them to buy a new Xbox and they still have not hacked Xbox Live for revenge.

M-Easy5508d ago

I don't understand your point?

Tommykrem5508d ago

Probably because Sony has upset a world of liars by doing everything to keep the console unhackable. Including Other OS removal.

If it happened for another reason then it might as well have happened before.

SuperM5508d ago

Stupid question. Thats like asking why havent they hacked the PSN before? After all its been up for over 4 years without getting hacked. Also i think its fair to say that hackers have been targeting Sony in particular lately. Have you not heard of anonymous?

HK65508d ago

@M-Easy
Xbox Live hackers and modders have a reason to hack Xbox Live so why haven't they? I will tell you why, Microsoft do not go around suing everything that walks on two legs.

@Tommykrem
The PS3 is very far from un-hackable.

@SuperM
Sony never pissed off the hacking community as much as they did before.

Redrum0595508d ago

ppl have had money stolen through their xboxlive accounts b4, xbl isnt so secure iether. the psn hack was a bit on a massive/personal level. whats the difference? well...

xbl has been hacked
psn has been attacked. so protocalls must be taken.

sdtarm5508d ago

Dear capcom, everybody is losing money, we are not glad that this is happening, what makes you think you care about you, why dont you quit from the game industry, only thing you do is overcharge DLCs and make halfassed games

HK65508d ago

@Redrum059
No Xbox Live as a system has never been hacked. Xbox Live accounts have individually been hacked but only through third party security systems.

Eg. Head of security at Microsoft had his account hacked because a hacker found out his information through his web host.

Tommykrem5508d ago

Sorry, I just re-checked my comment and for some reason I wrote liars... I haven't got the slightest idea why! Scary, but I meant hackers not liars.

wsoutlaw875508d ago

Sony pissed off guys who don't care about games, just hacking, its all they do. Like SuperM said you could ask that same question about sony a month ago.

rockleex5508d ago (Edited 5508d ago )

"So why hasn't it?"

Because although every online network is hackable, each network has its own unique architecture and coding that hackers must figure out first.

Just because you can solve a Rubik's cube doesn't mean you can solve every other kind of puzzle on Earth.

gaden_malak5508d ago (Edited 5508d ago )

"Microsoft have been banning hackers/modders for a long time forcing them to buy a new Xbox and they still have not hacked Xbox Live for revenge."

Do people actually think Live accounts are not hacked? Really?

"No Xbox Live as a system has never been hacked. Xbox Live accounts have individually been hacked but only through third party security systems. "

Result is still the same though.

thats rich coming from capcom

NukaCola5508d ago (Edited 5508d ago )

Capcom is the leading company that milks content and games. I mean 5 or 6 Fighters in less than 3 years? They can eat it. They make enough money of suckers daily.

Street Fighter II Turbo
Street Fighter II Turbo HD
Street Fighter 4
Street Fighter DLC Costumes(Over $30)
Super Street Fighter 4
Street Fighter 4 Arcade
Street Fighter 4 3DS
Street Fighter 4 Arcade DLC
Marvel vs Capcom 2 HD
Marvel vs Capcom 3
Street Fighter X Tekken

Look I am just saying they are milkers. Shall we go with:
Resident Evil 4
Resident Evil 4 PS2
Resident Evil 4 Wii
Resident Evil 4 PS3
Resident Evil Archives Wii
Resident Evil 5 (Won't allow Move on original)
Resident Evil 5 Gold
Resident Evil 5 Move Edition
Resident Evil 3DS gets 2 games in on launch gap?

Come on people.

Giant_Chibi5508d ago

Who are you to complain? You probably don't even play sf to understand the major differences between sf4 and ssf4.

Rynx5508d ago

try 3 SF's in 3 years on consoles

testerg355508d ago

Dang.. what did Capcom say piss you off?

oricon5508d ago

Actually its really 2, AE is more of an expansion pack, but they will stop selling SSFIV in favour of SSFIV AE on disc. There are alot more companies that are alot worse than Capcom.

Elimin85508d ago

I agree. Capcom is like nintendo with their games.. They rarely dish out new IP's... RARELY!!!

zackacloud5508d ago (Edited 5508d ago )

Re5 Marcines Or whatever it named

In 3ds and ios system

Sf4 and re4 in ios system

I know they milk games and DLC. But i buy the SF because there is alot of material there regardless. The DLC milking is crappy from a price point. I love the characters but $5 for one is ridiculous.

radphil5508d ago

"Who are you to complain? You probably don't even play sf to understand the major differences between sf4 and ssf4."

It's simple.

The difference is paying $40 instead of $60.

Rainstorm815508d ago

dont forget they added a new Ultra combo for each character (which you shouldnt have had to choose between them since it was a new game)....but all in all SSF4 couldve been DLC

radphil5508d ago

Oh same thing with Arcade Edition, and yet that one's also getting a retail release(not joking about that sadly)

BlackTar1875507d ago (Edited 5507d ago )

it added 10 new characters. New game play tweaks. New Ultra combos. New locations. new mini game modes.

it would be a pretty big/huge and expensive DLC.

"which you shouldnt have had to choose between them since it was a new game"

what does that mean. that since its a new game the option to use either one was a bad thing?

radphil5507d ago

@BlackTar187

Well the thing is RDR was able to manage a DLC and re-retail release with Undead Nightmare, so why couldn't they do the same?

BlackTar1875507d ago

there not even any where close to being comparable.

10 characters is 100000000x for time then all of the undead nightmare even if you played it for 20hrs.

If you care enough to want the 10 new character then you should understand how long it takes to really learn even 2 of those characters much less 10.

I agree with you in some ways but i think your over simplifying.
Undead nightmare is what 4 hrs long i can;t even remember how long it took me to beat it.

I think they have been, its just unprofessional lame-duck websites that have flooded the internet with fud, and on top of that rabbid turd eating fanboys have also decided to jump on the sony hate. No matter how much hate they spew out it will never net them any more games...

burn105508d ago

Yeah the internet has sensationalized the crap out of this. I am shocked with Capcom losing money every day on this, they are still standing by Sony. People just need to ease up. I'd rather have Sony take their time. That way this fiasco is less likely to happen again.

Looks like PlayStation took a hit with Marathon and is now quietly adjusting prices worldwide to recover the losses

andy8541d ago

Lets be honest raising prices doesn't do that when no one's buying it. I imagine the profit it greater selling 10 times more at a lower price

Pergele41d ago

Whatever you say buddy, let's all wear the tinfoil hats.

IceKoldKilla41d ago (Edited 41d ago )

LMFAO Your comment alone says a lot more about you than anything else. When has one game not selling 10 million copies made a company raise the prices of their console? Then Xbox would be costing $5000 by now lol. You remind of the crazy drug addicts on the street rambling on about conspiracies. xD You sure you don't need a hug, buddy?

ChunkyMonk40d ago

One game that Sony payed $200 million for. lol
Also, you sure were quick to get triggered. Maybe your the one who needs a hug?

Eonjay40d ago

If nothing else, we should be united against the real issue here. AI and unnecessary tariffs that are effecting all gamers.

Athlon10141d ago (Edited 41d ago )

The price increases are due to the RAM demand associated with AI and the US-Iran war. You can look to any business news website and local news to see that. Heck, even the 2026 Asus Zenbook Duo I've been eyeing has faced delays and has had a price increase of $400; that laptop has two specs. Asus is doing a staggered release with per-orders for the lower spec now and shipping in May and pre-orders for the higher spec that I'm eyeing starting in June. Basically, all computer manufactures are affected. It'll most likely start affecting smart phones too if it hasn't already. I can't remember the last time any major console maker (Nintendo, Sony, Sega, etc) increased the price of their console mid cycle outside of Microsoft just to make more profit.

S2Killinit40d ago

Its not the war. Its the RAM issue.

jznrpg40d ago

War is causing gas prices to rise. Transport of everything requires gas so the prices of those items go up as well. So it does have an impact

Athlon10140d ago (Edited 40d ago )

The blockage of the Straight of Hormuz due to the US-Iran war has affected raw components used in semi-conductor manufacturing such as bromine, aluminum, and helium. Iran had attacked the liquified natural gas (LNG) plant in Qatar which is a large producer (1/3 globally) of helium which is used in semiconductor etching. So it's the both the war and the RAM crises.

badz14941d ago

Oh no...should I get the Pro now before the price increase?

I dont think that'll ever happen. But i must say back in the day, they were definitely trying because they were more cash rich than their competitors.

CosmicTurtle54d ago

I think MS were and still are the richer company. They tried to acquire Sega back in the day (and considered doing so again more recently), they obviously bought exclusivity to Halo which was originally shown as a Mac title. I don’t think as a company MS can claim the moral high ground here. It’s a wilful lack of self awareness.

Of course Sony would try exactly the same if they had the resources, but when the PS2 dominated the industry was in a much healthier place with an abundance of great third parties.

This has been a depressing generation as far as first party decisions are concerned. The fact we are debating business plans rather than which game is better is a sad reflection of the state of things.

Darkseeker54d ago (Edited 54d ago )

There was Nintendo as well, Sony wouldn't have had a monopoly. In fact, the world would be better today if Xbox never existed in the first place. They pretty much brought all bad practices we have today. We might have gotten all of it either way, but not this early. In term of franchises, I don't think there is anything Microsoft released that would actually be missed if it didn't exist. Even Halo the world wouldn't notice if Halo didn't exist.

S2Killinit54d ago

MS was definitely a bad influence on gaming.

raWfodog54d ago

I think almost everyone will agree that a monopoly is not good for the industry. But that being said, the competition needs to be smart and strategic with their business. Simply buying up publishers and traditional third-party studios just to keep them out of the other companies reach is not a sustainable practice. That goes for all parties so don't think I'm just referring to Xbox.

I'm no business guru by any stretch of the imagination but I firmly believe that the best way to drive consumers to your software and hardware is to invest smart in your first-party studios. Give them full support and guidance in making unique, fun games that are only available to play in your ecosystem and the gamers will come.

Reaper22_54d ago (Edited 54d ago )

But first party studios aren't enough. They only make up a small portion of the industry. Without 3rd party there would be no industry for Microsoft or sony.Developing games take time and money and sometimes you gotta make moves to stay competitive.

raWfodog54d ago

Nah, I never said first-party was enough. I said it’s the ‘best way’ to drive gamers to your platform. 3rd-party is a free-for-all and there’s no guarantee that gamers will use your hardware to play the game. If you want to push your own software and/or hardware you need first-party, or at least exclusive deals with third-party studios.

SimpleDad54d ago

They Shure did a great job... 25 years later Xbox is dead.

Reaper22_54d ago

Then why be so emotional and continue to talk about it. Xbox will never die be ause it stays in so many people's head.

lodossrage54d ago

How can you even see him being "emotional" in that comment?

If anything, you're the emotional one, constantly trying to go at anyone that says anything against Microsoft. So when you call him emotional, it comes off as deflection

Elda54d ago

I own an XBSX & I can say it's becoming irrelevant out of the 3 current consoles.
