Why no Half-Life 3? Maybe the Valve team just doesn't care enough about it right now...
Half-Life and Portal writer Erik Wolpaw has detailed how his team has been using Generative AI for research and development at Valve.
Valve has responded to New York Attorney General Letitia James' lawsuit against the firm, stating it does not believe that lootboxes in its Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, and Team Fortress 2 games unlawfully encourage minors to gamble, adding it was "disappointed" to see the action go ahead despite efforts to "educate" the NYAG about virtual items since "early 2023."
I think that they are waiting till next gen for HL 3. The current consoles probably couldnt do a great job of running what ever they have in store for HL3, probably a new engine.
I totally agree that there really is no need for a new Source Engine. Like Theo said, seriously, Portal 2 is gorgeous. The thing is that Valve games never really seem to strive for photorealism. Artistically Portal 2, L4D2, and TF2 look amazing even though they don't look realistic. And it's not that the Source Engine is lacking from a tech standpoint either. The engine has definitely advanced in a way where it is keeping up with technology at a seemingly perfect pace where people with lower-end systems can still play the games with them looking great and people with high-end systems can still be rewarded with pure eye candy. Oh, and there better be some sort of continuation from Episode 2 haha, there's no way they could just leave it at...well how it ended. (Avoiding spoilers)
I don't believe a word of this Crock. The Truth is, American's are NO MORE FREE than any other "Socialist Country" you can name. There's NO REAL FREEDOM of Speech here, if you say something the "Political/Social/Economi cal" forces Don't agree with Online, then your Labeled a "Troll". The Label is "Ambiguous" at best, and is a tool to "Stifle Freedom of Speech". For Instance, if You understood the REAL REASONS behind why Valve is helping the "Industry" by focusing its efforts Through "STEAM", and the Real Reason there's NO HALF_LIFE: Episode: 3, you would be Labeled a Troll, with your comments BANNED, cause its suppose to be a Secret!, lol. If you understood that what is REAL, is HIDDEN from you in "Plain Sight", and That the World OPERATES TOTALLY thru "SECRECY", they will label you a Troll, a Conspiracy Nut/QWACK. But the TRUTH is, There are no LIARS/DECIEVERS who tell the TRUTH, if they did, it would CEASE TO BE a SECRET. A Secret is something that's Hidden, something hidden must have some kind of "Darkenss" to Hide/or Cover(Media/Journalism, etc) it ,to Conceal its Form, its TRUE NATURE, lol. The Light expells the Darkenss, but sometimes what appears as Light, is actually Darkness, hence the SECRET REMAINS a Mystery/Riddle to Most, and Only a Few, NO THE TRUTH, lol...
