Anonymous promises security test for Sony. Independent cells are a risk.

Whether or not Anonymous has members that act as a independent cell(s) within the group is not officially known . Although it is not unbelievable. There is actually evidence that suggest it is highly likely.

I can't see a easy way to make this crap go away. Anonymous needs to let Sony go so they can seperate the networks as far as security goes. PSN should not be hit because Anonymous is trying to close their stores.

lil Titan5369d ago (Edited 5369d ago )

close stores or not this has to be the most well know group of haters ive ever seen, its like there soul purpose is to hate everything thats not to there liking all because they got sued for something they wasn't pose to be doing anyway? or some other stupid reason smh

AND stop putting up Guy Fawkes mask what "anonymous" is doing is in no way noble or honorable

zag5368d ago

I don't think they will hit the PSN or SOE servers I reckon it'll be employee servers, that's probably why they will publish everything they get.

Though in saying that if it's PSN user accounts put up online a lot of people won't be happy, around the world.

And what do a lot of pissed of people do they go a lichen and they will be after these people, forget about the net etc, you'll have people watching for the IPs on their IRC server ringing up the news places for info about the spoke people from anon, it'll never end now.

I hope there's is another attack because this time you can bet a server will have been left open and it'll be logging everything done it won't go anywhere.

Even if they post up torrents it uses the computer mac address and the IP to upload etc in the file.

There's so many ways you can pick up these people now it's not funny.

While I firmly believe that most (if not all) members of anon are script kiddies (i hate that term but can't really think of a better way to describe them) its apparent whoever is responsible for this was a very talented hacker(s). Duping the unwitting masses of anon into a DoS to cover your hack is not only clever but very well planned given the current political state of affairs.

My point with this is that I have a feeling as people start to get caught its going to be the fools who aided the actual mastermind (not to give a them too much credit) behind the hacks, not the actual core conspirators. Experienced hackers are well aware of the trails they leave behind and will cover their asses. Its the script kiddies that aren't going to know any better. Ya know, high school kids who somehow think DoS attacks that affect gamers / peoples personal lives are cool.

Millah5368d ago

Lol @ all these gaming sites who think that Anonymous as a whole is a small consistant organized group of hackers.

Anonymous IS nothing but groups of "independent cells" that act on their own. When will they realize this? The group they're trying to refer to is "SonyOps" not Anonymous as a whole.

THATS THE WHOLE POINT OF THE ANONYMOUS NAME. There is no collective identity, it's simply "Anonymous". Anyone that wants to use the name can do so as they please, as there is no Anonymous police patrolling the Internet preventing anyone from using it.

Anarki5368d ago

This could be taken in a good way. It could just be a test to see if their newer security is good.

Pixel_Pusher5368d ago

Anonymous there are no other causes you could be out there taking on?

I could almost understand if Anonymous attacked the Government, almost, but Sony? Sony is not sending armed agents to kick down doors in the middle of the night. Sony is an entertainment juggernaut, where is the greater purpose in attacking something that entertains millions of people? Seems like an extreme waste of talent, and energy going after the Sony's of the world. Go after the corrupt governments of the world, or people that prey on children, or anyone for that matter. Sony makes people happy, a sentiment I do not share, but one I can certainly appreciate and relate too. I truly hope for all of you PSN users, that your online passion is sated soon. If fanboyism were more akin to a football rivalry, I would be taking a knee with you, while your teammate was getting his injury looked at.

Interesting metaphor redge, very well put.

I really liked that last sentence. Well put

Or N

I dont know if people here know that PSN was running unpatched webserver (apache) and no firewall at all...

No wonder it got hit so hard when attacked. Now that is mindblowing.

zag5368d ago

The web server unpatched and with no firewall doesn't matter much.

because the important data would have been behind a firewall, there more to a network than a webserver.

Bebedora5368d ago

http://www.geek.com/article...

You are probably right there, zag. I just dont know what to think actually was on this server though. Nevertheless, to me security is an important part of any network.

Lich1205368d ago

DoS attacks on web servers is a fairly simple thing since they are inherently open to the public. The actual infiltration would have taken much more than gaining access to a web server. Unless of course the web server was holding very valuable info (which would be ridiculous). I can't actually say since I haven't found much info on what actually happened. However, to save company face one would think their web servers would be running a version of apache that wasn't lousy with holes.

Hashashin5367d ago

@Bebedora

Servers were patched and firewalls were up. Do some googling to check. It's a rumor that they weren't protected.

Action GO FIGURE5368d ago

They're acting on behalf of the consumers yet they steal from the very same consumers. The irony...

For shame Anon, for shame.

SonyPS3605368d ago

They can never really be one independent entity with so many shit munchers out there who can easily claim to be in it.

ChrisGTR15368d ago

it would suck if they do manage to hack in again. LOL. i wonder how akward thatll be for sony after having just moved there whole network to this more "secure" site.
