LucasArts should have kept funding Free Radical's Star Wars Battlefront 3 instead.

DeadlyFire5472d ago

Don't worry its still coming. Well that is to both of you. Battlefront 3 is under the radar right now, but its out there somewhere.

This game is looking more and more like a flop. I was never into their over-cgi'd trailers either.

bwazy5472d ago

We gotta believe! Theres NOWAY I'm going back to WoW :(

Ravenor5472d ago

I don't understand what about it is looking like a flop? Do tell, you seem to have more insight then I.

How is the game looking like a flop? Everything I've seen looks good and I've been reading mostly positive previews. The fact that EA seems to want to wait until the game is ready, is also a good thing.

As for the trailers. I thought they were great. A lot of people loved them. Sure, they're not in-game, but that wasn't the point. They wanted to tell part of the story (which is a big focus of the game) and just market the game. They worked. It's not like they haven't already shown gameplay.

When you spend more money making a MMORPG then anyone ever has before the expectations are very very high, and i agree for the most part, i dont see this game becomming the new #1 or taking the title away from WoW anytime soon. It will prob be a good game but not enough (or sell enough) to really be considered a huge success considering the resources used on it.
I am a big star wars fan but this is not the kind of game i want at all and i feel like console has been shafted hardcore since battlefront 2.
IMO they should have just stuck to making a Battlefront 3 for all platforms cause i would def buy that no question, this isnt even on my radar. Only MMORPG even being talked about that has my atttention is the Fallout one, i think that could be great.

@Oschino1907

What does Battlefront and ToR have to do with one another you ask? Not a whole hell of a lot! One's a Third person shooter with vehicles...the other a MMO with quests, I can totally see how one would effect the other. It is ToR's fault that Battlefront 3 got the can right? Nothing to do with the team working on it moving on.

You also have to take into account that an MMO doesn't need to have more subscribers then WoW to survive or be profitable. I also can't seem to figure out whether you're just naive or so full of yourself that you feel what's on your radar is really a barometer for mainstream attention and appeal.

The game is still on track for a 2011 release. EA said it would either release in fiscal Q2 Y12 (July-September 2011) or Q3 Y12 (October-December 2011). They did mention the outside possibility of a January 2012 (calendar date) release, but they're definitely going for 2011. BioWare is also saying the second half of 2011.

jdktech20105472d ago

Thanks, was a bit confused by the title and article....I thought it was still on track for 2011 anyway.

Man, this was gonna be the game to get me over the summer game drought but now I'm gonna have to go play older gamesl ke Fallout 3 or New Vegas and Oblivion (I've never played a Bethesda game....any suggestions on the one to get?)

Urmomlol5472d ago

The author of this article should be fired because they can't do basic fact checking.

The game is still on track for a release in 2011. EA said that yesterday.

Pwngamercom5471d ago

Article states: "EA still anticipates the game will release this calendar year but admits that January 2012 remains a possibility."

The_Nameless_One5472d ago (Edited 5472d ago )

Remember at that EA conference at E3 where the Bioware doctors came out all wearing robes? Yeah, I turned to a friend and I told him "see how this game goes into development hell".

Star Wars: The Old Republic Still Receiving Updates 11 Years Into Release

A new update for Star Wars: The Old Republic is coming out on PC and the patch notes provide us with an in-depth look at all the new changes.

I loved this game and have played since launch but don't let this article fool you, this game is a step above life support. While they are still technically updating the game, the updates are few and far between and there is a significant lack of quality control, so many little bugs that have been present for years.

TheColbertinator1127d ago

The updates felt flimsy to me also. Stopped playing in 2021.

Andrew3361128d ago

This game got a huge update last year didn't it with more content?

PapaBop1128d ago

They promoted it as an expansion yet offered like 3-4 hours of content. The game is amazing and easily one of the best Star Wars games ever made but content drops are so few and far between.
