Well considering that There is two different version of the ps3 on Amazone. If you add both of their sales together, I might be in the top five or top 3. Hell it might be at number one. But anyway, Most ps2 owners that own a ps2 right now are waiting for the 40G one to come out.

The only thing holding Sony PS3 back is the price. Sony is not dead yet, its only been out for one year and it hasnt released its blockuster titles yet. So there is still a long time before you can count sony out.

You guys think that is huge? Here in Canada the price dropped from 549.99 for the 60 GB to 479.99 and from 649.99 for the 80 Gig to 499.99....the 60GB is already sold out at future shop. This was a great move by sony. Then with the 399.99 model coming in november...sigh :\. Sales are going to explode.

For the past few months, the PS3 has ALWAYS been above the 360 in bestsellers at Amazon, and the 360 still outsold it month in and month out(except July).

Amazon is only one retailer and gives a small glimpse into what may or may not be a trend. I would give this at least a couple weeks before all you Sony fanboys claim "it's all over".

Being a fan of a brand name I can understand, hell I was a huge fan of nintendo back in the day and hated sega (For a little bit) but it's gotten crazy over the years and now it's just insane. They all bring something to the table and to be honest the competition is great for gamers, though owning all 3 systems is even better for gamers (if you can afford them that is)

Okay, Sony originally had the PS3 60 gig for 599.00 and the 20g for I believe 499.00, it didn't sell. So, they staged a 60 gig price drop and called it a clearance (If it meows, and sh!ts in a litter box, it's a cat, don't cal it anything else.) It worked because people thought that were getting ahead of the game. Then that fad faded, hmmm so Sony then release yet another sku know as the 80g PS3 for 599.00 (As if their fans are stupid) It didn't work. (they are stupid, I don't know why this one didn't work.) So, the reduced the price of the 80g to 499.99 which was the same price as the Previously "Clearance" 60g model. The same people that thought 499.00 was too much for the 60g bought the 80g model because somehow they think they are getting something big for 100 dollars less. (When in all actuality they were getting a 20g HD increase for the same price that they wouldn't buy the 60g model for.) Then sony release yet anothe SKU (Damn another one?) yep another one a 40g model for 399.00, but this time, they sucker punched their blind fans by stealing features away from the machine. People jumped on anyway, because Sony said "DAMMIT" BUY IT NOW...(lol) so they did.

Anyway this console war has just begun.. Sony is now in the price market as the 360.. But when it was at a higher price the ps3 was still selling pretty good with a 600 dollar price tag.. Lets see what happens now.. Sony, with its fan base can take over within a matter of months..

I seem to recall when Sony had there first price drop (really wasn't a price drop just a fire sale of the 60GB Sku) 3 short months ago and all the same talk was "WOW! Amazon sales of the 60GB went up like one million percent." Everybody on this site had the 360 coming in last for the July NPD reporting period. Let me remind you what happened. Yes Sony increased their PS3 sales 61% from the month before but it still wasn't enough to top the 360's monthly NPD for July. Not to mention the next month of August PS3 sales went down according to NPD. But don't believe me, Take a look for yourself.

You fail to see my point: the 360 and Wii have been out much longer than the PS3 and the PS3 right now has no games which people will buy the system for. Of course the 360 and Wii will top it in game sales; it's sold half as much as the 360 because it's been out half as long. All the people on here are saying is that things are looking good for the PS3, plenty of exclusive and multiplatform games are on the way and the price cut is a great move by Sony.

The PS3 has done well with no AAA titles and a huge price tag, think of how it will sell when it actually has games now that the price has been lowered, use some logic please.

I've said on this site numerous times and I apologize if I did not mention it yet again that I think the PS3 is a glorified High Def Movie player. My point is show me who's buying games for the PS3 in North America. I can't tell you how many Blu-Ray is outselling HD-DVD articles I've seen on this site yet nothing about how PS3 games are selling well (Even though the total number of Blu-Ray/HD-DVD sales is less than 1 percent of total DVD sales globally but that's a different argument.) Show me where I'm wrong. Those games wont make a difference in my book as the past demonstrates PS3 owners lack of buying the games that but consoles like the Wii or 360 consistently have a couple games in the top 10 for NPD as far as sales from the numbers I gave you above state.

all this tension is just going to get worse in november when the heavy hitter games come out and the ps3 will be up 10000% ... wonder what they will say about the ps3 then, now it has sick games and a sick online setup and every feature a tech junky could dream of (it took a year and yes it has been a long wait) this war of consoles in my opinion has just started because now we can compare who has a better game system with great games

Not that I really care, but I gauge console sales according to Best Buy and Circuit City's website. I usually go and check the store availability. As of now, in my state (MD), you can't find an X360 in a store, but there are plenty of 60GB & 80GB PS3s available for pick-up/shipping. Its plain and simple, most people will not play beyond until the PS3 has a better library. However, I must say that the PS3 has been doing really well even with the negative press, "no games", two strong competitors, and a high price.

for example, 600 consoles sold at 1080 percent increase would be 6,480 consoles sold. The only way to truly know how many PS3s are being sold it to wait for the raw numbers. Percentages can be misleading.

Another example if a console "A" sold 350,000 units and then dropped 17% the next month, it would have still sold 290,500 consoles where as if console "B" sold 50,000 and then increased by 1080% the new total would be 540,000 sold, just 190,000 more than console "A" even with a whopping 1080% increase.

All I'm saying is don't get too tied up in the precentages.

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.
