John Carson writes, "Oh, Sony. What a terrible mess you've gotten yourself into. It's true that things are finally starting to look up, and a plan is in place to bring PSN back, but not in recent memory has there been a debacle on the level as this. Sony's online service has been hacked, passwords and credit card information (probably) stolen, leaving the temporary downtime of PSN as the only logical choice. Now that the service is on the mend and a customer compensation plan is in place, will it be enough good will to bring the people back home?"

Square Enix launches Final Fantasy X 25th anniversary site, revealing new Nomura art, books, music releases, and merchandise.
Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.
They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

A brutal reset, a smarter story, and a return to what made it great—Mortal Kombat (2011) revived the series.
15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.

Why did Sony push Shuhei Yoshida out of his role leading PlayStation's first-party games? He'd overseen some huge successes. Well, apparently, he didn't listen.
Yeah I can see that for sure. Shuhei Yoshida should have been in charge not Jim Ryan.
More confirmation that Jim Ryan is the culprit for what has happened to Sony. Hulst needs to go too. What sucks is that a lot of the good top heads at Sony are no longer there. I wish that guys that were forced out prematurely by Dumbo Jimbo like Shuhei and Layden came back.
Makes you wonder if MS even thought about hiring him after Phil and Sarah were leaving. He certainly couldn't make their situation any worse.
All the gamer/consumer lead heads are gone across PS and Xbox. shuhei gone phil's gone (questionable) but gone. The future of gaming is somewhat uncertain across the board.
Personally no its not. It basically only benifits PSN+ users (which I am), but in its core its simply a hook to catch more PSN+ subscribers and personally, I think its just disrespectful of Sony to use such a crysis (yes its a gaming crysis) to simply gain more profit.
I would have preferred a $20 coupon to be added to everyones PSN Wallet. Heck if they did that I'd lay down another $40 for Mass Effect 2.
Yes, yes it is. You get to play online for free for as long as you own a PS3...PSN being down for a couple of weeks is a SMALL price to pay. Besides, I have finals to study for, so its not like I was going to be gaming online that much.
Lame really how many of these articles are we suppose to see??
Forget "compensation" jus get the damn thing workin man, im easily pleased
I don't think a compensation was needed in the first place.
But if they could fix cross-game chat I'd be very pleased. The PS Plus and Qriocrity is however a good gesture, add the 7 seconds bow and I think Sony has done their part of the apology.
Now to put hackers in the electric chair...
No, but it would be nice if they faced trial.
