Operation Flashpoint: Red River Review | MMGN.COM

MMGN writes: Operation Flashpoint has a long standing reputation of delivering a brutal experience, all in an attempt to capture the true nature of modern warfare. Standing up in a genre that is spearheaded by the unmovable Call of Duty, is there still a place for this hardened series? Building on the mechanics established in previous iterations of the series, while managing to make the game more accessible ensures that Operation Flashpoint: Red River is a solid experience despite its shortcomings.

Not as good as Dragon Rising.

bumnut5490d ago

Dragon Rising was a terrible game, but you are correct.

I disagree on both points. Since i'm really tired of the repetitive run & gun CoD & BF clones, I quite enjoyed Dragon Rising. If your're a console gamer and you like shooters to be authentic and with some realism, but not a full on ArmA style soldier simulation then you'll like Red River. And imo its a lot better than Dragon Rising, its faster paced with some of the biggest battles ive seen on a console. It really captures the feeling of being in a war, like no other game has before. Its a great game.

Some mediocre - crap games there. Couldn't even include any Codemasters racing games? It's the only thing they're good at.

Canadiangamernet4309d ago

Including the Dirt series in the bundle would have been awesome but i wouldn't say they are crappy games. I liked Overlord 1 & 2 and both Operation Flashpoint are decent FPS the other one are so so for me.

guitarded774309d ago

Like I said... crappy to mediocre. I liked Overlord too. Didn't care for Operation Flashpoint. But eve liking Overlord, I have no illusions that it isn't a mediocre game.

AntsPai4309d ago

Even though it's still technically a good deal, the whole $5 or £4 thing annoys me. Humble bundle doesn't do this. No thanks.

Operation Flashpoint: Red River - The Shooter That Could Have Been The Greatest

Mobile & Apps: "One of the most underrated shooters of the previous generation was Operating Flashpoint: Red River for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. With all its problems, I believe this is a game that is worth playing, however, it is not too hard to see why the game didn't quite kick off, as it should have."

I liked it, didn't quite finish it though. Maybe I will now.

Loved this game, it was dumbed down from Dragon Rising but still an enjoyable game. Was still offputting to people looking for instant/non stop action

Ha! Some colleagues and I are actually planning on hitting this one up tonight. Great game.
