Exactly. In fact, PS3 was once homebrew acceptive from factory. It was called OtherOS, but it had to be removed since hackers were more interested in finding exploits on it to get past security instead of developing their own programs and tools.

How awesome would it be to have a PS3 with like 200 of your favorite disk based games stored on the HD. You would be in heaven. This is what the good hackers wanted to do. The other kind of hackers are the ones who brought the PSN down and possibly stole your personal info. GeoHot is an example of a hacker who wanted the 200 game PS3 arcade box of awesomeness. The PSN Hacker is the opposite.

It does give you full access to the GPU. This really is a full hack of the PS3, despite how long it takes some people to believe it. The isolated SPEs can be viewed as black box crypto engines. Whether we can ever run them without a system is somewhat irrelevant. For example, the iPhone and PSP both have crypto engines that require the hardware, but are both widely hailed as hacked.

Linux was allowed on the PS3 with Restrictions, that you as the end user cannot have direct access to the PS3's GPU..the developer's an Publisher's have to pay for that privilage.

Last time i check that is the right of the creator to decide that not the consumer.

Sony had too their part of their income stream is licence development developer's it's the same if people were using Epic's unreal game engine you have to pay for it.

Investors would expect Sony to protect that.

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted
