I fail to see the connection between the two.

Move on.

TimmyShire5535d ago (Edited 5535d ago )

Well of course there's a connection, they're both online networks.

5535d ago
peeps5535d ago

@kayla

yes we never used to have online gaming on consoles but now it's standard and i've got at least 2 games I really want to be playing online on my ps3 right now and can't

sikbeta5535d ago

MS are pro in the Software dept and Sony are pro in the Hardware dept, guess both can learn one from each other...

5535d ago
DeadlyFire5535d ago

Really? Honestly though do you really think Mircosoft's or Nintendo's online security is any tighter than Sony's.

I am doubtful. Likely all 3 will be certain to beef up security in some way after this.

I still say Geohot, and Annon are responsible. They draw alot of attention to themselves and someone else says hmm... maybe I can go under the radar get some cash and fly their flag when/if I am caught.

Ju5535d ago

Yeah, I can see that. MS being a victim of constant security breaches for years has experience how to handle loopholes. That's for sure. Patch it up every other day. Ever took a look into your Windows update history?

Oner5534d ago (Edited 5534d ago )

So let me get this straight ~ Sony can learn from Microsoft when LIVE! has had not only the same issues with breaches, but WAAAY more & frequent outages PLUS Microsoft has probably the worlds most pirated & technically insecure software with WINDOWS!?!?!

Uhm...yeah...sure...that makes sooo much sense. /rollseyes

one keeps in touch with their customers and is secure, one isn't

zeksta5535d ago

And you need to keep in touch with reality.

tdrules5535d ago

the reality?
not being told the situation about my data on PSN for a week.
that's the situation and i'm jersey shore about it

XRider5535d ago

@zeksta Reality? well in "reality" one is down and the other isn't. PSN is going to be down for 6 more days, thats reality.

@tdrules both MS and Sony keep in touch with their customers. To say Sony doesn't care about the people that make them money is... well.

KonaBro5535d ago

One nickel and dimes you by forcing you to pay for a service that comes on every other console for free while the other doesn't. Don't even try to start with the "you get what you pay for" bull because it can just as easily happen to XBL as it did PSN.

radphil5535d ago (Edited 5535d ago )

"one keeps in touch with their customers and is secure, one isn't"

Sure as hell didn't keep in touch when my 1st batch system console went down, until AFTER the lawsuit. >_>

Now i'm waiting to see people knee-jerk as to which company I speak of.

Ju5535d ago (Edited 5535d ago )

"it can just as easily happen to XBL as it did PSN."

It already did. XBL was down for a week or so a while ago (over Christmas last year or something). And nobody demanded from MS to come up why. Regular maintenance for all we know.

Confused as to why I've been disagreed with so much? Were all the agrees PS3 fans and the disagrees Xbox fans?

If so, I like both formats. Just saying that these comparisons do nothing but provoke flame wars, which are retarded and needless really.

Bring on the disagrees.

rabidpancakeburglar5535d ago

Saying that is all well and good but in circumstances where your games service is being taken over by hackers sonys "heavy handed" actions were the correct ones to take

hay5535d ago

Yup, I fail to see how "expert" this person is making claims like that, except having a company named after himself.

rabidpancakeburglar5535d ago

I know, the first thing I noticed was the fact that this guy was full enough of himself to name his company after himself

Ju5535d ago

He didn't even say why they could learn from MS. Just tossed out a name.

pupa5535d ago

What idiots, so allow these low life scum basement dwellers to blackmail large corporations then. Idiots! If you think Sony was heavy handed wait for the next round.

Honest_gamer5535d ago

ofcourse they could almost any company could, microsoft is a software giant so it makes since and the same is true microsoft c ould learn from son in making hard ware reliable etc.....they should work together! best software and best hardware = gamers win

clintos595535d ago (Edited 5535d ago )

No thanx, if anything I want ms to learn how to bring us more exclusives for the hardcore, could give a sh1t about being hacked because i use $20 psn cards instead of credit cards, its the safest way to go.

Edit: B!tch slap me? lol not my fault their willing to really think psn or xbl is trustworthy of your credit card password. If your smart u would use psn or xbl cards instead. And u act like xbl is hackerproof, coming from a 360 fanboy such as yourself, lachance lol. Dont make me laugh or ill b1tch slap u & the rest of those who follow u.

@clintos59...
I hope you understand that a credit card has less value when compared with your personal information.
Personal info can lead to identity theft, loans being purchased in your name.
Trust me I have no problem with Sony, I have a bravia TV, I used to have a vaio laptop and I am thinking about buying the sony tablet, but the fact that personal information is not secure will always be in the back of my mind.
MS actually have bought multiplayer to consoles, xbox live is the pioneer of it, every PSN fan will say p2p etc...But xbox live hasnt lost details has it?
If security experts around the world agree Sony F'd up big time, and many countries are investigating these breaches Sony have done something wrong.

Geohot
"Sony needs to accept that they no longer own and control the PS3 when they sell it to you. Notice it's only PSN that gave away all your personal data, not Xbox Live when the 360 was hacked, not iTunes when the iPhone was jailbroken, and not GMail when Android was rooted. Because other companies aren't crazy.”

Looks like PlayStation took a hit with Marathon and is now quietly adjusting prices worldwide to recover the losses

andy8556d ago

Lets be honest raising prices doesn't do that when no one's buying it. I imagine the profit it greater selling 10 times more at a lower price

Pergele56d ago

Whatever you say buddy, let's all wear the tinfoil hats.

IceKoldKilla56d ago (Edited 56d ago )

LMFAO Your comment alone says a lot more about you than anything else. When has one game not selling 10 million copies made a company raise the prices of their console? Then Xbox would be costing $5000 by now lol. You remind of the crazy drug addicts on the street rambling on about conspiracies. xD You sure you don't need a hug, buddy?

ChunkyMonk56d ago

One game that Sony payed $200 million for. lol
Also, you sure were quick to get triggered. Maybe your the one who needs a hug?

Eonjay55d ago

If nothing else, we should be united against the real issue here. AI and unnecessary tariffs that are effecting all gamers.

Athlon10156d ago (Edited 56d ago )

The price increases are due to the RAM demand associated with AI and the US-Iran war. You can look to any business news website and local news to see that. Heck, even the 2026 Asus Zenbook Duo I've been eyeing has faced delays and has had a price increase of $400; that laptop has two specs. Asus is doing a staggered release with per-orders for the lower spec now and shipping in May and pre-orders for the higher spec that I'm eyeing starting in June. Basically, all computer manufactures are affected. It'll most likely start affecting smart phones too if it hasn't already. I can't remember the last time any major console maker (Nintendo, Sony, Sega, etc) increased the price of their console mid cycle outside of Microsoft just to make more profit.

S2Killinit55d ago

Its not the war. Its the RAM issue.

jznrpg55d ago

War is causing gas prices to rise. Transport of everything requires gas so the prices of those items go up as well. So it does have an impact

Athlon10155d ago (Edited 55d ago )

The blockage of the Straight of Hormuz due to the US-Iran war has affected raw components used in semi-conductor manufacturing such as bromine, aluminum, and helium. Iran had attacked the liquified natural gas (LNG) plant in Qatar which is a large producer (1/3 globally) of helium which is used in semiconductor etching. So it's the both the war and the RAM crises.

badz14956d ago

Oh no...should I get the Pro now before the price increase?

I dont think that'll ever happen. But i must say back in the day, they were definitely trying because they were more cash rich than their competitors.

CosmicTurtle69d ago

I think MS were and still are the richer company. They tried to acquire Sega back in the day (and considered doing so again more recently), they obviously bought exclusivity to Halo which was originally shown as a Mac title. I don’t think as a company MS can claim the moral high ground here. It’s a wilful lack of self awareness.

Of course Sony would try exactly the same if they had the resources, but when the PS2 dominated the industry was in a much healthier place with an abundance of great third parties.

This has been a depressing generation as far as first party decisions are concerned. The fact we are debating business plans rather than which game is better is a sad reflection of the state of things.

Darkseeker69d ago (Edited 69d ago )

There was Nintendo as well, Sony wouldn't have had a monopoly. In fact, the world would be better today if Xbox never existed in the first place. They pretty much brought all bad practices we have today. We might have gotten all of it either way, but not this early. In term of franchises, I don't think there is anything Microsoft released that would actually be missed if it didn't exist. Even Halo the world wouldn't notice if Halo didn't exist.

S2Killinit69d ago

MS was definitely a bad influence on gaming.

raWfodog69d ago

I think almost everyone will agree that a monopoly is not good for the industry. But that being said, the competition needs to be smart and strategic with their business. Simply buying up publishers and traditional third-party studios just to keep them out of the other companies reach is not a sustainable practice. That goes for all parties so don't think I'm just referring to Xbox.

I'm no business guru by any stretch of the imagination but I firmly believe that the best way to drive consumers to your software and hardware is to invest smart in your first-party studios. Give them full support and guidance in making unique, fun games that are only available to play in your ecosystem and the gamers will come.

Reaper22_69d ago (Edited 69d ago )

But first party studios aren't enough. They only make up a small portion of the industry. Without 3rd party there would be no industry for Microsoft or sony.Developing games take time and money and sometimes you gotta make moves to stay competitive.

raWfodog69d ago

Nah, I never said first-party was enough. I said it’s the ‘best way’ to drive gamers to your platform. 3rd-party is a free-for-all and there’s no guarantee that gamers will use your hardware to play the game. If you want to push your own software and/or hardware you need first-party, or at least exclusive deals with third-party studios.

SimpleDad69d ago

They Shure did a great job... 25 years later Xbox is dead.

Reaper22_69d ago

Then why be so emotional and continue to talk about it. Xbox will never die be ause it stays in so many people's head.

lodossrage69d ago

How can you even see him being "emotional" in that comment?

If anything, you're the emotional one, constantly trying to go at anyone that says anything against Microsoft. So when you call him emotional, it comes off as deflection

Elda69d ago

I own an XBSX & I can say it's becoming irrelevant out of the 3 current consoles.
