Despite their respective reputations in the gaming industry, EA and Activision have remained on top. Together, the two publishers control some of the most popular franchises in multiple genres, from Call of Duty and Mass Effect, to Command and Conquer and the reasonably popular Marvel franchise titles; many of the buzzworthy AAA titles that occur year after year are backed by these two industry titans. Staying on top means keeping a tight reign on your respective franchises, and neither EA or Activision have a sole claim to creativity in the industry. Ubisoft have let the two publishing giants know recently that they're gunning for the number one position, something achieved through power of sales alone. It's certainly a respectable boast for any developer or publisher to make, but can it ever be more than just that? Is it possible for Ubisoft to actually overtake its two major competitors and hold that coveted number one spot?

Insider Gaming - "Ubisoft has cancelled yet another game, this time ending development on the Animal Crossing-inspired title Alterra."

HALIFAX (April 14, 2026) – Laid-off Ubisoft workers in Halifax have voted overwhelmingly in favour of a settlement with the video-game giant. The terms of the settlement, including the compensation employees will receive, is confidential.
I can't sit here and act like I know these workers financial situations. And I'm sure nobody wakes up WANTING to go to court. But for the sake of the industry, I wish some of these types of cases made it to trial.
Settlements allow companies to continue to do whatever abusive practices they do. While the trials (should the company lose) would actually force real changes for the better.
But again, I'm not in these workers shoes and I can understand them not wanting to risk it.

Two-day event includes exclusive reveals, trailers and playable games on show floor.
Regardless of whether they can top EA or not, the are power house that seem to be growing at a bloody amazing rate!
It might just be my immaturity but I keep think that the title should say beat off
ubi definitely has some of the franchises to make a push, but the amount of resources they throw a single title (supposedly 200+ person teams) makes me skeptical they can get their costs under control and aggressively expand.
Yes as long they make proper sequells for Far Cry, Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon ,Rainbow Six, Prince of Persia and Assassins Creed.
Just bring rainbow six and ubisof can see a boost.
