You're damn right I'm pissed!

zeddy5494d ago

absolute shambles is what it is, never again will i purchase anything with my card on the psn. this company is worth bilions?

GrieverSoul5494d ago (Edited 5494d ago )

Im mad because Sony took almost a week to tell me my credit card info was compromised.

I use mostly PSN cards by I have an old account where Im almost sure I didnt erase its details. I just wish I could login to erase it but I cant...

My name, adress and various other details are there. I just wished this was told to me earlier.

Now Im anxious to know if I still got my account.

Chaos695494d ago (Edited 5494d ago )

But why?
People should go outside and take a breath of fresh air

So think your only at risk on the PSN? don't be blind, every time you use your credit card you risk your details, believe me, I know.

It has happened to the biggest companies in the world and as web usage continues to grow it will take even more to fight it.

I'm disappointed this has happened but not angry, my cards are covered against fraud like everyone's. I'm angry with the people who have gone to the time and effort to do this. They are criminals and should be labelled so.

moparful995494d ago

They never said CC info was stolen.. Just personal info... CALM DOWN

Oner5494d ago (Edited 5494d ago )

If you read through the announcement it specifically states ~

"If you have provided your credit card data through PlayStation Network or Qriocity, it is possible that your credit card number

********(excluding security code)********

and expiration date may also have been obtained."

A VERY important thing that keeps CC purchases/theft @ a minimum.

Edited for better reading ~ Thanx Deadpoole

Ok. So, network breached, Sony immediately takes it offline. When they figured out the extend of the breach, which was yesterday, they notified customers almost immediately.

Am I the only one that thinks Sony acted responsibly here? Network breached, immediately take it down. Seems about right. Find out what happened. Done. Notify clients immediately what happened. Also done.

This is a shitty situation all around, but if Sony could have done something differently here, I'd love to hear what that could have been. Maybe not be targeted by hackers? How about inform clients before the breach? Go back in time and stop this from ever happening?

Seriously, what could they have done differently? Sure they could have notified clients on the 19th, but they didn't know what happened. What would they have said? "Yeah, something may have happened and information may have been leaked but then again maybe not?" Who in their right mind would raise that kind of panic when they don't even know if anything happened. That would be like me calling the police because I got home and my door was unlocked.

FACTUAL evidence5494d ago

I'm mad but I have faith in Sony. They might even give us a little surprise for the inconvenience.

Chaos695494d ago (Edited 5494d ago )

Yea, they'll tell you next week that your CC number was the first that got stolen.

BrianG5494d ago

Good to see some others are trying to remain optimistic, pessimism just doesn't make me feel good lol.

But I'm sure everyone that is angry would be surprised at how many other companies with their private information sell it or deal with issues such as this one on the hush. AKA pay the people with the info to keep quiet and to turn it over.

I saw someone earlier, either sarcastically or not, complaining that their address was compromised. I thought seriously? Did you know universities and schools sell your information like that? Did you know some websites you sign up for sell your email address, etc...?

But this situation is pretty bad for Sony right now. I'm still checking my credit card info from time to time to make sure no charges are made.

Dont be angry at sony; Be angry at the hacker responsible. Geohot and 4chan have been conspiring against Sony and talking about doing "something big" for a few weeks. It is not sony's fault that they have been the target of hacks for justly defending themselves against hackers that want to steal thier games. Blame the criminal, not the victim.

guess i shouldnt be angry at the employee(s) who sold out the company by releasing the rootkey that protect the system, or the hackers who are missing with the system now huh?

listen my credit card info as well as everyone else is pretty much in danger everyday from the places we eat when we pay our bills with them, to paying your bills online. so ill hold to my beliefs on who i should be angry at.

Im not pissed, or worried about it and i have my cc info on there. I check my cc all the time, so if there is any funny business going on, i'll know about it right away. So no big deal for me. The cc co. fixes the problem pretty easily.

And i've been gaming since the Atari 2600 days (so single player modes are not a problem for me) and dont care about online gaming that much. So this whole ordeal isnt that big a deal for me. But i do think that Sony is imcompetent. And think that they are one of the worth software companies i have ever seen.

Frak5493d ago

YAHH at the DAMN Hackers and Anonymous which probably inspired these fools to do it.

I hope Sony finds and Kills THEM.\

can anyone really blame anyone that is pissed. The thing is that these sneaky scumbags hacked into the Developer servers and got in through that. The dev servers are supposed to be secure so I don't think that Sony could have expected them to get into the dev servers but still. This is going to cut some ties with some customers and sony

TKCMuzzer5494d ago

Interesting. People would have to be pretty ignorant to the world around to think this can not happen any where else.
People buy things all the time off the web without really considering the risks, which are quite high. People give out personal details without really considering what will be done with them. I had my card details stolen and there is still no idea where or when it happened.
We are not safe, no matter what company we use, we just get so secure that when things like this happen we are shocked. We are at risk everyday.

RBLAZE19885494d ago

I totally agree TKC, the fact of the matter is that no matter what, people are going to be pissed whenever they hear something like this 100% of the time. No matter what and that's true that not even Xbox live is 100% safe. I'm sure that hackers make attempts on xbox live all the time but live is probably just harder to hack and has measures in place to detect a break in anywhere and rectify the situation quick. It's the one advantage of having a completely closed off and controlled environment. It's the hackers that are really pieces of shit. They're the new age mobsters.

Biggunz5494d ago

really? Thank god somebody wrote an "article" covering this....

PirateThom5494d ago

People pissed at personal details being leaked?

What a shock...

himdeel5494d ago

This just in..."People pissed that they cannot control the weather with their minds. Churches note record attendance by weathermen around the world."

:)

Scyrus5494d ago

morons, obviously thats a risk anywhere, its a risk anytime you use your credit card, social or any information. its not the first time people have been hacked like this, even on Live people actually had Live accounts stolen. its common in virtual terrorism

thats why my credit card has fraud detector and i always get my money back if somethin like that happens :)

I sound like an advertisement :D

Max_Dissatisfaction5494d ago

Wow. Thank you. That makes me feel a whole lot better to know that my information being compromised is not unique. Now that you've told me about Live hacks, my info being out there is OK.
I hate it that people like you want to try and downplay it just because your precious SONY is involved. Yes you do sound like an advertisement.

HolyOrangeCows5494d ago (Edited 5494d ago )

And NOW the fanboys can panic about the ONE Neogoof post from an unknown user.

Seriously hope that the info is safe in all seriousness. These ARE still just suspicions/worries, though.

Looks like PlayStation took a hit with Marathon and is now quietly adjusting prices worldwide to recover the losses

andy8514d ago

Lets be honest raising prices doesn't do that when no one's buying it. I imagine the profit it greater selling 10 times more at a lower price

Pergele13d ago

Whatever you say buddy, let's all wear the tinfoil hats.

IceKoldKilla13d ago (Edited 13d ago )

LMFAO Your comment alone says a lot more about you than anything else. When has one game not selling 10 million copies made a company raise the prices of their console? Then Xbox would be costing $5000 by now lol. You remind of the crazy drug addicts on the street rambling on about conspiracies. xD You sure you don't need a hug, buddy?

ChunkyMonk13d ago

One game that Sony payed $200 million for. lol
Also, you sure were quick to get triggered. Maybe your the one who needs a hug?

If nothing else, we should be united against the real issue here. AI and unnecessary tariffs that are effecting all gamers.

Athlon10114d ago (Edited 14d ago )

The price increases are due to the RAM demand associated with AI and the US-Iran war. You can look to any business news website and local news to see that. Heck, even the 2026 Asus Zenbook Duo I've been eyeing has faced delays and has had a price increase of $400; that laptop has two specs. Asus is doing a staggered release with per-orders for the lower spec now and shipping in May and pre-orders for the higher spec that I'm eyeing starting in June. Basically, all computer manufactures are affected. It'll most likely start affecting smart phones too if it hasn't already. I can't remember the last time any major console maker (Nintendo, Sony, Sega, etc) increased the price of their console mid cycle outside of Microsoft just to make more profit.

S2Killinit13d ago

Its not the war. Its the RAM issue.

jznrpg13d ago

War is causing gas prices to rise. Transport of everything requires gas so the prices of those items go up as well. So it does have an impact

Athlon10113d ago (Edited 13d ago )

The blockage of the Straight of Hormuz due to the US-Iran war has affected raw components used in semi-conductor manufacturing such as bromine, aluminum, and helium. Iran had attacked the liquified natural gas (LNG) plant in Qatar which is a large producer (1/3 globally) of helium which is used in semiconductor etching. So it's the both the war and the RAM crises.

badz14913d ago

Oh no...should I get the Pro now before the price increase?

I dont think that'll ever happen. But i must say back in the day, they were definitely trying because they were more cash rich than their competitors.

CosmicTurtle26d ago

I think MS were and still are the richer company. They tried to acquire Sega back in the day (and considered doing so again more recently), they obviously bought exclusivity to Halo which was originally shown as a Mac title. I don’t think as a company MS can claim the moral high ground here. It’s a wilful lack of self awareness.

Of course Sony would try exactly the same if they had the resources, but when the PS2 dominated the industry was in a much healthier place with an abundance of great third parties.

This has been a depressing generation as far as first party decisions are concerned. The fact we are debating business plans rather than which game is better is a sad reflection of the state of things.

Darkseeker27d ago (Edited 27d ago )

There was Nintendo as well, Sony wouldn't have had a monopoly. In fact, the world would be better today if Xbox never existed in the first place. They pretty much brought all bad practices we have today. We might have gotten all of it either way, but not this early. In term of franchises, I don't think there is anything Microsoft released that would actually be missed if it didn't exist. Even Halo the world wouldn't notice if Halo didn't exist.

S2Killinit26d ago

MS was definitely a bad influence on gaming.

raWfodog27d ago

I think almost everyone will agree that a monopoly is not good for the industry. But that being said, the competition needs to be smart and strategic with their business. Simply buying up publishers and traditional third-party studios just to keep them out of the other companies reach is not a sustainable practice. That goes for all parties so don't think I'm just referring to Xbox.

I'm no business guru by any stretch of the imagination but I firmly believe that the best way to drive consumers to your software and hardware is to invest smart in your first-party studios. Give them full support and guidance in making unique, fun games that are only available to play in your ecosystem and the gamers will come.

Reaper22_27d ago (Edited 27d ago )

But first party studios aren't enough. They only make up a small portion of the industry. Without 3rd party there would be no industry for Microsoft or sony.Developing games take time and money and sometimes you gotta make moves to stay competitive.

raWfodog27d ago

Nah, I never said first-party was enough. I said it’s the ‘best way’ to drive gamers to your platform. 3rd-party is a free-for-all and there’s no guarantee that gamers will use your hardware to play the game. If you want to push your own software and/or hardware you need first-party, or at least exclusive deals with third-party studios.

SimpleDad27d ago

They Shure did a great job... 25 years later Xbox is dead.

Reaper22_27d ago

Then why be so emotional and continue to talk about it. Xbox will never die be ause it stays in so many people's head.

lodossrage27d ago

How can you even see him being "emotional" in that comment?

If anything, you're the emotional one, constantly trying to go at anyone that says anything against Microsoft. So when you call him emotional, it comes off as deflection

Elda26d ago

I own an XBSX & I can say it's becoming irrelevant out of the 3 current consoles.
