Huge difference. PSN is completely down for every single person. Xbox Live in 2007 only affected a minority of people for those 2 weeks with most being a problem for about 2 days.

what this "journalist" fails to point out is the XBLA outtage was due to the servers being unable to handle the strain of the Xmas push they had that year. I beleive COD:MW had launched with crazy success on top of Halo 3 still being relatively fresh for most. So for those 2 weeks as MS struggled to get more servers online, etc... it was an up and down mess no doubt.

NEVER ONCE did I worry that XBLA had been hacked and shut down due to outside intrusion. This is apples to oranges folks.

Credit card info being stolen wasn't an issue when Xbox Live went down.

Sony doesn't know if personal info has been stolen or not, 5 days since PSN went down. People's credit card info and personal information are at risk. You suck Sony!

Xbox Live is a smoother, more consistent service than PSN.

But when the games are better, and Sony is actively doing more to bring MANY great exclusive games and experiences to their consumers, as well as providing exclusive content to boot, who cares?

Xbl wasn't down for everybody during that time . I experienced no downtime

This has to be a joke. Anyway, the way I remember it back then it was only certain people who had Live issues, mine never went down and I was still compensated with free Live and a arcade game. It wasn't "completely shut down" as this article suggests.

This makes the PSN issue seem worse, we don't need to defend this issue. Let the ignorant fanboys do their thing, we all know that a pay2play service like Live has had problems before. And basically the only reason some people put Live over PSN is because of 1 minor feature. They both have the same quality imo, just that one's free and the other isn't..

That 13 day period was nothing like the PSN time. I was still able to use XBL for games and just had trouble completing transactions and downloading things from time to time. I would rather have that than a week of absolutely nothing. I have 2 brand new PS3 games that I bought to play online and I can't so they are still in the wrapper.

Live didn't go down for me. I had a very slow connection to live but I could still get on and play with friends. They even gave me a free game for the inconvenience. I think sony is a shit company trying to hide behind their ToS and not compensate atleast the Ps+ users. Since they are the one that paid for the service

I don't understand the problem. If you're a true gamer that loves GAMES, and the PSN being down is preventing you from playing online...why not switch to your Xbox 360 or PC, and play an online game on one of those systems until it comes back up?

Unless, of course, you're someone that refuses to buy an Xbox 360 or PC, because you're more interested in supporting a system than actually being a gamer.

The two don't even compare.. PSn is down for 'everyone.'
Where as the xBox 360, during Christmas, was down to select people.
And, even foor some it would just kick you off, you jus needed to sign back in..
And, hell, others had no problems with Live during the Christmas outages, at all.

For me, it was down for two days fully. Then intermittent problems for several days after.

It's pathetic either way. The fact that one side keeps bringing up the Xbox Live being down and and the other side insisting that the PSN outage is worse then it seems when they have no idea how bad it really is. Just like when they jumped all over the Leap Year bug. Besides these two times I have never lost PSN unless it was scheduled maintenance so I am not sure why everyone goes on as if losing PSN happens every day or something. Just shut up already.

@ KMxRetro. Still not sure why everyone goes on about having more than one system as if not doing that is some sort of crime or something. I brought my PS3 and I enjoy my PS3. I am not sure why I must spend a wad of cash on another system just because I feel that I am missing something. That is way gamers can enjoy games. You are too busy looking over everyone elses' shoulder trying to see what they are playing instead of enjoying what you have.

I just simply dont understand why they have to point out that other services has been down just like PSN. Is it really so big deal that the black monolith is having online problems while other gamers are happily online on their xbox's & PC's?
Live downtime was different:
- They warned about it.
- It did not take this long.
- Everyone got free arcade game.

Regardless of how long live was down compared to psn. Live did not succumb to a cordinated hacker attack which is the case claimed by Sony. Live has gone Down due to scheduled maintenance and 1 time on a Christmas holiday unexpectedly for 5 days worth of on off activity when a larger volume of gamers than expected overloaded live servers. Nobody's credit information was in jeopardy, no hacker group claimed responsibility, and no conspiracy. Just too many gamers, which Microsoft has resolved so that it will not happen again.

I have no idea where this 3-2 week of live going down came from. We were able to get online at non peak hours and even then ms informed via email what the issue was.
