Anonymous responds to PSN-users

PSX-Sense writes: "Anonymous just released a video which is meant for the PSN-users. Many people say it is Anonymous who is responsible for the downtime, but Anonymous denies. They say in a video that it is an internal problem in the servers of Sony. "

Sony > Anon

end of story

hay5491d ago (Edited 5491d ago )

For an anonymous group they sure care about their web image.
One could easily read quite a lot about people who make those videos from the way they (re)act.

limewax5491d ago (Edited 5491d ago )

The pathetic thing is their statement was basically this.

Its not us, PS. Sony hates you and is trying to end the world, join us

This is clearly the effort of kids, anybody with a brain would realise a legitimate explanation does not follow with a but

Aggesan5491d ago

I'm getting so bored of anonymous. Can't people just stop writing articles about them? Nobody cares about them anymore anyway.

FACTUAL evidence5491d ago

Wow....anonymous get dumber and dumber every fucking day....they said that other members of anonymous acted out but anops didn't. So doesn't that defeat the whole, "we are one, we are legion, we are anonymous" slogan?.....Yeah..nice try idiots, anonymous is anonymous, it's too late. You rejects are finally realizing that NO ONE likes you for your blind actions.

You try to make it seem as if you're the heroes but don't realize your the antagonist. You guys are outcast to the gaming community, you'll never fit in no matter how hard you try. It's to late, bring psn back up and hide in your caves in shame. You guys are officially the outcast of the gaming/tech industry.

lol Anonymous are such losers taking big risks for no reason...

Lets see them send threat videos to the FBI looool

DragonKnight5491d ago

I am officially begging mods and admins of this site to PLEASE block any Anonymous "news" from appearing on this site. Enough is enough. It's like every 5 minutes there's a new post about these failures at life. I'd say no one cares, but the comments prove otherwise. Please, let's just end this. It is an offense to our minds and our senses.

anon r nobodies

just random people on the internet thats scared to show their pimply ( not sure if real word ) faces

this shit shouldnt reach 10 degrees

thats how i feel anyway ..

another case of the internet making a nobody a somebody

LostDjinn5490d ago (Edited 5490d ago )

To all of the above:

You realise that this is nothing more than an attempt by Anon to stop the backlash don't you?

They claim that every time they get crapped on by people on the net it actually helps their cause. You're hurting yourselves by hurting us is the message they're trying to convey here.

It's laughable. This is nothing more than a poor attempt at tryin' to silence the masses.

Edit: I think many of you are right in that the only way for the hate to dissipate is for Anon to STFU. Just thought I'd add that. ;)

Morbius4205490d ago

yeah $ony hates you that's why they let you play online for free...sheesh

Vherostar5490d ago

The main point is though they are split up so far across the world and dont even know who there own members are . They wouldn't know if they did this they are THAT un-organised.

SonyWarrior5490d ago

anonymous has no leaders there for there are no official messages... just because one member makes a video doesnt mean the rest will follow

BloodyNapkin5490d ago

For the people complaining they are tired of it, here is some simple logic.

Stop posting comments to the articles and do not click them to read them. You are complaining about the same thing you are doing.

Lol at 1:09 in the video. "We do not forgive, we do not forgive." Sounded so funny it was hard to take seriously.

Actually he said "We do not forgive; we do not forget."

The Matrix5490d ago

Sorry like I'm not human.

KingDustero5491d ago

I'm blaming Anonymous on this. Even if they didn't do it directly they for sure influenced someone too.

I don't really care since they've lost to Sony just like Geohot.

wiggles5491d ago

I am also blaming them for making my ears bleed with that horrible music, they thought would be a good idea to add in

JD_Shadow5491d ago

Because Sony would ALWAYS be transparent when it was their fault, right?

Jesus, I've owned and loved the PS3 and have been a Sony supporter for a LONG time, but I'm not THIS gullible!

If hackers are to blame, then we should blame them. At the same time, perhaps blame should rest on Sony for trying to tout their service and system as something it wasn't and then try to sweep shit under the rug and bitch all over when someone finds out about it...all while never doing anything ABOUT it besides screwing EVERYONE over!

Then again, with how many gullible people we have on THIS site, I'm not surprised the scapegoating is allowed to continue.

RememberThe3575491d ago

We're supposed to believe That out of the blue Sonys servers all died at once? Are you kidding me? It's sounds like you really are that gullible you just believe a bunch of lame ass hackers.

How is admitting that the PSN got broken into "sweeping shit under the rug"? That admits a flaw in the system; a flaw they're trying to correct. They hacked, shut down the network so they can find the issue and keep our personal information private, admit that they were hacked which makes them look back, and somehow their trying to screw us? Do you lack any logical reasoning?

I'm getting so tired of your made up bias bullshit. You come on N4G lie about shit and when people called you out or people don't believe you some how the members of THIS site are gullible. Your lying and you know it, there is no other way you could be full of so much false and twisted information.

darksied5491d ago

Agreed. I blame them and their circular, twisted logic as well.

I think it's funny, though, what he said about anonymous getting "stronger" the more people blame them for this (i.e. more people will change their views on anonymous). My thinking is more along these lines: gamers are hating them more and more and this is their damage control. If they are actually getting more support and sympathy, then they wouldn't post this video.

darksied5491d ago

@darkpower

Are you for real? Wow, no, I think you ARE that gullible.

I've said this a few times already, but here it is again ... how is Sony in ANY way responsible for this? Unless EVERYONE is lying and Sony disconnected their service to piss everyone off for the holiday weekend (completely unlikely), then we're going to assume hackers did something. How is that Sony's fault? If no one did anything to them, PSN would be up right now and people would be playing games. Who's fault is it?

"Tout their service and system as something it wasn't..." - What does that even mean? Everyone knows what the service, PSN and PSN+, is. Sweep under the rug? They were hacked, how is that in any way trying to hide what happened? If they were, then they wouldn't have said anything. Screwing everyone over? No, you said screwing EVERYONE over! What are you even talking about? Screwing everyone over would be if Sony said one day: eh, we're done, PSN is going down for good tomorrow. That would be screwing people over. What's happening now is not their fault.

Is it the computer generated voice? The crappy music? The weird backgrounds? What is it? Something in those videos obviously brainwashed you into thinking Sony is responsible for SOMEONE ELSE hacking their servers.

Soldierone5491d ago

Its their fault for this image anyways. If they didnt start the "Attacks" and cause such a big fuss to begin with they would never be connected with this. They have no one to blame but themselves even if it wasn't them.

Haha. This is just sad, and their arrogant obliviousness is most unbecoming. There is zero chance I'll side with terrorists. Rational, mentally-developed people will think the same.

P.S. Anonymous is at fault for this, whether directly or indirectly.

squidyj5490d ago

I hear anonymous is also responsible for global warming aaand.... rape. Yes, all rape, for forever. Indirectly responsible is what I mean to say and you can't prove me wrong.

Either have the guts to say you think anonymous did it directly or shut the fuck up admitting you don't know what's going on. Saying they're indirectly responsible when you don't have a good goddamn clue what the fuck is going on just makes you look like a petulant child. You don't know if anonymous did anything you just want them to suffer because you hate them and you are incapable of controlling yourself.

CryofSilence5490d ago

@squidyj

o.O Quite an inflammatory response. You mad?

Unfortunately, you misunderstand. When I said indirectly, I was implying that Sony had to take down the PSN to implement new security measures due to the previous attack. It's now been confirmed, of course, that it was due to an external source. I believe I did say it was them in my post script, ne? So I do indeed have "the guts" to say it.

You criticize me of being childish and uncontrollable, but perhaps you should look at the maturity of your response and how overtly it attempts to attack me (like water off a duck's back, if we go by cliche statements). And the lack of proper grammar mechanics, limited vocabulary, and unfounded, sensational (and quite humorous) claims fitting of a drama queen don't really help you out much either. I wonder who really needs to control himself.

chriski3335491d ago

anonymous go play in traffic

Andronix5491d ago

They comment on all the people who criticise them on blogs and websites and say “We do not forgive, we do not forget." Which to me souNds like they hate free speech that is critical of them. There give a number of mixed messages. Before they said 'expect us'. Now they say "you should have expected us." which sounds like an admission of guilt. Yet they try to say they know the cause of the outage is actually Sony's incompetency. They know?

Before I thought maybe Sony had taken the GeoHotz thing too far. Now i have great sympathy for the company that is Sony. They are a business that provide a free online gaming service to the world, and some people want to spoil this.

They are not the friends of gamers.

evilmonkey5015491d ago

Sony already said the downtime is the result of a network attack. If it wasn't you annon, who the f@#k was it? Every other article either claims you DID do it or you didn't do it. We know its more likely that an attack was carried out against Sony than their servers just to all stop all of a sudden. How dumb do you think we are?

WharenPeace5490d ago

Given how Anonymous operates and the fact that their actions are generally "for the lulz", reasoning with them or ranting at them would only be a waste of time. The only recourse is to flag their videos on youtube as inappropriate i.e. promotes terrorism. The more gamers target their videos, the more our point goes through that "No! You are not doing it in our name".

WharenPeace5491d ago

Let's consider Anon's theory for a second, i.e. that Sony took PSN down themselves as some sort of "retaliation" against Anonymous (regardless that gamers already hate Anon's guts):

Given that this is Easter weekend, one of the few long weekends this year, not to mention that a healthy number of games launched prior to it (portal 2, Socom 4, Mortal kombat etc.)it would be highly unlikely that Sony would attempt to damage its own reputation by "faking a hacker attack". In fact, it's implausible and downright an insult to our intelligence to insinuate this, but that is Anonymous for you. A group that has proven time after time that they are nothing but a bunch of politically irrelevant, immature and autocratic terrorists.

The only plausible explanation given Anon's grandstanding and their failed protest last week, is that they are ultimately behind PSN being down this weekend (and therefore I sincerely hope that law enforcement deals a heavy blow to these online criminals).

wiggles5491d ago

I agree with you saying that Anon is ultimately behind this.

Don't forget that Anon said that they can't control all of their members of the group. So even though they can deny that they did any of this, we still have to remember they said that the organization is a little choppy and sometimes people just act out on their own.

gamingdroid5491d ago (Edited 5491d ago )

I love how people would rather blame it on somebody.

You might ask yourself, is it possible that:

a) Sony just experienced a surge of users, and their servers couldn't keep up? They are still investigating to find out what is going on.

b) Some third party (other than Anonymous) is hacking PSN for their own profit? I mean, PSN do store your credit card information.

c) That Sony is in charge of securing their own servers from hackers and malicious users.

d) Even if individual members of Anonymous went out and did something of their own volition, doesn't make it Anonymous. That's like saying company xyz screwed people over, so it's employees must part of it.

Because you are an anonymous member (I'm not), doesn't mean you are a hacker or vice versa. Because you are a hacker, doesn't mean you do illegal activities or is malicious!

As a gamer, you are already subjected to stereotyping and people make swift (often without research) judgement about you. Don't do this to others, which makes you a bigger moron since you should have known better already being subjected to it!!!

Apocwhen5491d ago

N4G won't take kindly to your logic ;)

hay5491d ago (Edited 5491d ago )

Well, first one is nonsense. Every self respected company that offers online services has someone reasonable and/or experienced(e.g. someone who at least once in their infrastructure career experienced solid service hickup and learned from past mistakes) who based on usage log can estimate that when major games with solid online are released, increase network usage.
I don't need to explain further that they just need to be prepared for that? I mean, Sony's infrastructure was "hit by a tsunami" in Japan and there was no downtime as I recall. Anon hit it with all they had and it was down like 30 minutes at time.

And didn't Sony said it was hacking attack?

gamingdroid5491d ago (Edited 5491d ago )

You mean how MS whom has decades of experiencing managing servers with their search engine, hotmail platform and even their own website hosting gazillion updates/applications had Xbox Live overloaded about 3 years ago?

I see it even less likely that Sony has that same competence in that area, because they are a hardware company.

Hiring top people doesn't mean you will get results. Grooming a team and creating a positive culture does!

If Xbox Live can go down, I see no reason why PSN can't!

hay5491d ago (Edited 5491d ago )

@gamingdroid: Forgot about Win95, ME, XP(early phases), Vista and RRoD? They did have some experience in those areas too. Did make OS' longer than providing online services and you can see how often they succeed.

gamingdroid5491d ago (Edited 5491d ago )

I'm not sure I follow you or what you are trying to say or hint at.

During it's respective times, all the OS releases was excellente except for Windows ME and Windows Vista.

In both cases, it was because people expected something else:

a) Windows ME was just 98, 2nd edition reworked. People had moved on to Windows 2000, which was far more stable and superior. In retrospect, ME was a pointless release.

b) Windows Vista was to resource hungry and people don't get the idea of intelligent maximizing resources instead of minimize. Case in point, Windows 7 was released with essentially the same core with minimal tweaks to wide acclaim. However, 7 years of computer speed moving forward (read 32x as fast assuming Moore's law hold) during Windows XP existence caused Windows Vista to feel like a slow slug.

However, their web design software MS Frontpage was atrocious and feel bad for those who used it.

No company is immune. Sony made PS1, yet they majorly screwed up on PS2 with the optical drive resulting in class action lawsuit by settling whereby they screwed over the customer with no extra warranty or refunds for past repair costs. You got a measly $30 max if you had the receipt.

Do you see any MP3 significance market in MP3 players by Sony? They were essentially the inventor of portable music with walkman.

Even the almighty Apple has screwed up multiple times.

Companies screws up isn't new....

ClimateKaren5491d ago (Edited 5491d ago )

"I love it how people would rather blame it on somebody"

Umm... Aren't every one of your propositions blaming somebody?

a) blames Sony for being incompetent.
b) blames some mysterious person who is causing trouuble, but who isn't "Anonymous"
c) citing Sony's potential incompetence again
d) blames members of "Anonymous", but says that you shouldn't blame the whole group.

You're accusing other people of placing blame on Anonymous, but you're just placing it on everyone but them. The difference is, there are plenty of reasons that support Anonymous or some of its members of being the cause of this situation, as opposed to your reasons which are pulled out of thin air with nothing to support them, purely for the sake of argument.

The bottom line is even if it is some rogue members of Anonymous, the responsibility lands on them as an organization for corralling this group and working them into a froth. See, the analogy you used in d) doesn't properly apply to this situation, because unlike individuals in a corporation who screw some people over, the corporation doesn't publicly advocate screwing people and then reprimand employees when a few members of their organization ACTUALLY go through with it. That's what Anonymous is doing. While they're claiming not to be directly responsible, they're still slinging shit, toting the party line, and making threats to cheesy music. They haven't stopped actively encouraging the cyber-terrorist behavior at all. Even if the main decision-makers at Anonymous didn't directly arrange for this attack, they certainly are responsible for it. And the way it sounds, they seem perfectly happy to be.

gamingdroid5490d ago (Edited 5490d ago )

I'm not blaming anyone! That is figment of your imagination.

I'm simply telling people that there are multiple explanations and not point the fingers until one really knows what happened. Never once did I say, this is what happened.

But ultimately regardless of what happened, Sony is responsible for their network!

So I suggest you re-read my message with an open and objective mind. If you came to the same conclusion, take a break and repeat the process.

Athlon1018d ago (Edited 8d ago )

The price increases are due to the RAM demand associated with AI and the US-Iran war. You can look to any business news website and local news to see that. Heck, even the 2026 Asus Zenbook Duo I've been eyeing has faced delays and has had a price increase of $400; that laptop has two specs. Asus is doing a staggered release with per-orders for the lower spec now and shipping in May and pre-orders for the higher spec that I'm eyeing starting in June. Basically, all computer manufactures are affected. It'll most likely start affecting smart phones too if it hasn't already. I can't remember the last time any major console maker (Nintendo, Sony, Sega, etc) increased the price of their console mid cycle outside of Microsoft just to make more profit.

S2Killinit7d ago

Its not the war. Its the RAM issue.

jznrpg7d ago

War is causing gas prices to rise. Transport of everything requires gas so the prices of those items go up as well. So it does have an impact

Athlon1017d ago (Edited 7d ago )

The blockage of the Straight of Hormuz due to the US-Iran war has affected raw components used in semi-conductor manufacturing such as bromine, aluminum, and helium. Iran had attacked the liquified natural gas (LNG) plant in Qatar which is a large producer (1/3 globally) of helium which is used in semiconductor etching. So it's the both the war and the RAM crises.

badz1497d ago

Oh no...should I get the Pro now before the price increase?

I dont think that'll ever happen. But i must say back in the day, they were definitely trying because they were more cash rich than their competitors.

CosmicTurtle20d ago

I think MS were and still are the richer company. They tried to acquire Sega back in the day (and considered doing so again more recently), they obviously bought exclusivity to Halo which was originally shown as a Mac title. I don’t think as a company MS can claim the moral high ground here. It’s a wilful lack of self awareness.

Of course Sony would try exactly the same if they had the resources, but when the PS2 dominated the industry was in a much healthier place with an abundance of great third parties.

This has been a depressing generation as far as first party decisions are concerned. The fact we are debating business plans rather than which game is better is a sad reflection of the state of things.

Darkseeker21d ago (Edited 21d ago )

There was Nintendo as well, Sony wouldn't have had a monopoly. In fact, the world would be better today if Xbox never existed in the first place. They pretty much brought all bad practices we have today. We might have gotten all of it either way, but not this early. In term of franchises, I don't think there is anything Microsoft released that would actually be missed if it didn't exist. Even Halo the world wouldn't notice if Halo didn't exist.

S2Killinit20d ago

MS was definitely a bad influence on gaming.

raWfodog21d ago

I think almost everyone will agree that a monopoly is not good for the industry. But that being said, the competition needs to be smart and strategic with their business. Simply buying up publishers and traditional third-party studios just to keep them out of the other companies reach is not a sustainable practice. That goes for all parties so don't think I'm just referring to Xbox.

I'm no business guru by any stretch of the imagination but I firmly believe that the best way to drive consumers to your software and hardware is to invest smart in your first-party studios. Give them full support and guidance in making unique, fun games that are only available to play in your ecosystem and the gamers will come.

Reaper22_21d ago (Edited 21d ago )

But first party studios aren't enough. They only make up a small portion of the industry. Without 3rd party there would be no industry for Microsoft or sony.Developing games take time and money and sometimes you gotta make moves to stay competitive.

raWfodog21d ago

Nah, I never said first-party was enough. I said it’s the ‘best way’ to drive gamers to your platform. 3rd-party is a free-for-all and there’s no guarantee that gamers will use your hardware to play the game. If you want to push your own software and/or hardware you need first-party, or at least exclusive deals with third-party studios.

SimpleDad21d ago

They Shure did a great job... 25 years later Xbox is dead.

Reaper22_21d ago

Then why be so emotional and continue to talk about it. Xbox will never die be ause it stays in so many people's head.
