PC Gamer - Operation Flashpoint: Red River Review

PC Gamer - Operation Flashpoint: Red River tells me that I’m a slick sonofabitch, commanding three other slick sonofabitch marines. It tells me loudly, repeatedly, and gratingly – via the mouth of staff sergeant Shouty McRacist – that I’m a Spartan and a devil dog, and all those other ultramacho things that make me feel terribly uncomfortable because I haven’t seen combat.

Crap review. I'd have taken it a bit more seriously if they'd hit it with a 75 or even 65, but 45. lol. Thats ludicrous. The vehicles having flat tires is a feature you dimwit!

May not be up to the superior high standards of PC. But its the best tactical shooter on console imo. Better than GRAW and R6: Vegas.

'May not be up to the superior high standards of PC. But its the best tactical shooter on console imo.'

Well it is being reviewed by PC Gamer, that could be a hint on why the focus is on pc and not console.

k4rma5518d ago

Huh?! Was I complaining because it wasn't a multi platform review?

No I dont think I was. I think... I was actually making a point that if the version I played on console was decent, then the PC version cant be that far behind.

Oh unless you are taking this into platform warrioring territory, in which case knock yourself out, and have a wonderful and utterly pointless argument with someone else that cares.

kramun5518d ago

I wasn't taking it into 'platform warrioring territory', I was saying that this review has nothing to do with the console versions.

So I felt that your comment about it being the best tactical shooter on console didn't really have much to do with the pc review did it?

evrfighter5518d ago

pc gamer is one of the tiny few sites that I do follow and so if they feel it deserves this score

then it MUST be crap.

"So I felt that your comment about it being the best tactical shooter on console didn't really have much to do with the pc review did it?

Its still the same game. So yes i'd say my opinion is relevant no matter what platform this review is for. As is anybody else's.

Its a crap review. The guy basically went into it intending to write a poor review. Its clear as day what with all the misinformation and making features out to be bugs and glitches. Also the exaggeration of the A.I which isn't that bad.

Are you the guy that wrote that review or something?

Off Topic: John man I can't wait for your game!

Some mediocre - crap games there. Couldn't even include any Codemasters racing games? It's the only thing they're good at.

Canadiangamernet4328d ago

Including the Dirt series in the bundle would have been awesome but i wouldn't say they are crappy games. I liked Overlord 1 & 2 and both Operation Flashpoint are decent FPS the other one are so so for me.

guitarded774327d ago

Like I said... crappy to mediocre. I liked Overlord too. Didn't care for Operation Flashpoint. But eve liking Overlord, I have no illusions that it isn't a mediocre game.

AntsPai4328d ago

Even though it's still technically a good deal, the whole $5 or £4 thing annoys me. Humble bundle doesn't do this. No thanks.

Operation Flashpoint: Red River - The Shooter That Could Have Been The Greatest

Mobile & Apps: "One of the most underrated shooters of the previous generation was Operating Flashpoint: Red River for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. With all its problems, I believe this is a game that is worth playing, however, it is not too hard to see why the game didn't quite kick off, as it should have."

I liked it, didn't quite finish it though. Maybe I will now.

Loved this game, it was dumbed down from Dragon Rising but still an enjoyable game. Was still offputting to people looking for instant/non stop action

Theangrybogan4885d ago

Ha! Some colleagues and I are actually planning on hitting this one up tonight. Great game.
