Game Reactor EU Operation Flashpoint: Red River Review

Game Reactor writes: "I've been on a steady diet of curses, weapon grease and gravel for the last week. I've been asked to run around rural Tajikistan like a mad man with a pissed off commander shouting at me throughout the experience. It's not been easy, but Operation Flashpoint isn't meant to offer the same kind of experience as other first person shooters. Instead of a tight, scripted and predictable journey where everything is served on a silver platter, this is something that demands much more out of the player."

I'm trying to find any reason at all as to why anyone would be interested in this game.

Johandevries5515d ago (Edited 5515d ago )

Don't know why they picked a Central Asian setting- just like ArmA 2: Operation Arrowhead. It's like they're shooting themselves in the feet deliberately. A tropical setting would have been cool or something

Ive put 30 hours into this game, its great and the setting is great. You fight in villages, mountains and even an industrial russian mining town. Its a great game with some great missions. Rent it before you think the setting isn't cool.

Some mediocre - crap games there. Couldn't even include any Codemasters racing games? It's the only thing they're good at.

Canadiangamernet4325d ago

Including the Dirt series in the bundle would have been awesome but i wouldn't say they are crappy games. I liked Overlord 1 & 2 and both Operation Flashpoint are decent FPS the other one are so so for me.

guitarded774325d ago

Like I said... crappy to mediocre. I liked Overlord too. Didn't care for Operation Flashpoint. But eve liking Overlord, I have no illusions that it isn't a mediocre game.

Even though it's still technically a good deal, the whole $5 or £4 thing annoys me. Humble bundle doesn't do this. No thanks.

Operation Flashpoint: Red River - The Shooter That Could Have Been The Greatest

Mobile & Apps: "One of the most underrated shooters of the previous generation was Operating Flashpoint: Red River for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. With all its problems, I believe this is a game that is worth playing, however, it is not too hard to see why the game didn't quite kick off, as it should have."

I liked it, didn't quite finish it though. Maybe I will now.

Loved this game, it was dumbed down from Dragon Rising but still an enjoyable game. Was still offputting to people looking for instant/non stop action

Ha! Some colleagues and I are actually planning on hitting this one up tonight. Great game.
