Anonymous Responds to Halting Attacks on Sony; Releases Statement

It was recently announced that Anonymous has halted attacks on Sony. Now, the hacking group has released a statement detailing why they stopped OpSony.

Kenshin_BATT0USAI5517d ago (Edited 5517d ago )

Interesting... they really got their point across this time. I mean they went out there with a mission, and they really did get it done, like they said.

TBH im feeling more a FATALITY! right now, maybe now I can squeeze a few in online

KrimsonKody5517d ago

It's more like a MERCY (Mortal Kombat 3)
Because Sony still has a chance to recover,
it's not over yet.

Kenshin_BATT0USAI5517d ago

I should clarify that I don't support their actual actions.

Your entire diatribe had nothing to do with the matter at hand and was offensive. I am Christian and believe in evolution to an extent but your comment was uncalled for.

EDIT: Like I told you in your PM to me, you should have used some judgement and something we like to call common sense to decide if posting such a statement and not clarifying it would be a good decision. However, your reaction to this whole event gives me the great impression that you are some teenager who thinks he knows everything. Protip: you don't.

Scyrus5517d ago

andrewryan, wtf do christians have to do with anonymous. somethings occupying ur mind and its obviously not anonymous. how bout u quiet down and go in a corner lol. I believe in god and science and it has nothing to do with my ps3 so stfu seriously

Zeevious5517d ago (Edited 5517d ago )

Andy.

You and your point of view are completely offensive.

While I support the right to freedom of speech...that doesn't mean just for you.

I am also free to speak about how you, and those like you are the problem, not the solution. Your hatred of Christians is as ignorant as any form of simple-minded racism.

The fact that you actually think Anonymous "won" with the "hudreds on standby" but FOUR showing up for the actual protest, (and instead buying a Bravia-lOl) to interpreting a clearly one-sided settlement agreed to -- signing away the very claimed undeserved rights being fought for, to the Joke-of-a-Denial of Service 'attacks' and YOU think they won.

Is that really what you see as a solution to world problems that matter?
This 'problem' didn't matter and "Annoyingus" sure as _ _ _ _ did NOT win.

They only made themselves look even more pathetic and into Embarrassments, not Hactivists.

.

I've sent this to you as a Private Message if you want to continue this discussion since you can't continue this here.

REALLY?

With all the discussions of Anonymous, and this little diversion based on the cross-topic comment by Andy...

Mods REALLY labeled all these Off Topic but the comment about the dude who got "really stoned before reading this thread" was ok?

Anonymous's actions are really ridiculous, but was the little side discussion really so awful that you "off topic'd" it all?

Is it off-topic, or someones religious bias, misusing it here?

I'd like to know that, as much as I'd like to understand why Anonymous went after this half-baked attack that just ended up backfiring as an attack on their own credibility and made sure they officially threw away all of their respect.

the settlement was filed before anaon sent there first warning

sobekflakmonkey5517d ago (Edited 5517d ago )

I know...whomever this group of people is, they sound extremely immature, and really, they didnt get anything out of it, I DO NOT see what they have accomplished, they just kinda fucked over everyone who wanted to use the psn..and then pissed off because people got fuckn choked cause they couldnt use the psn, it sounds more like Anon failed if you ask me, failed so hard.

Edit: I dont really think this was a legit Anon group, cause everything that they did - or everything they didnt do - was so god damn amateur.

thisguywithhair5517d ago

Besides, it was a settlement. There were no winners or losers.

MrBeatdown5517d ago

They didn't get anything done. They are just taking credit for something they could very well have had absolutely no effect on.

The irony in this is that they say "mission accomplished" because Sony isn't suing Hotz anymore. The whole point of this Anonymous fight was to defend the rights of gamers to use their hardware however they want, yet Sony is keeping Hotz from ever hacking another Sony system. Mission Failed sounds far more appropriate.

All this is, is spin to make this "OpSony" thing look like less of a failure than it really is.

sourav935517d ago

They took my advice:
http://n4g.com/news/748979/...

This is a victory for us gamers against these hackers.

-PINNER-5516d ago

What these terrorist hackers don't realize is that they are not doing this for gamers worldwide. They are doing it for hackers alone. I am a gamer and I do not want any of the things they do. They are incapable of understanding what anyone besides their self centered selves want.

Areeb115516d ago

Did Anyone else find it ridiculously ironic that they used the Halo Theme song as their backdrop against their fight with Sony Video?

HardCover5516d ago

You really think so?

They sound more like misguided youth who finally got bored.

Kushan5517d ago

I don't know why there's a million articles about "anonymous", giving them all this publicity is doing them good, it's what they want.
It's also pointless, these "Statements" don't mean anything. Anonymous isn't a single organisation, it's a bunch of people, some of whom believe and say one thing, some of whom say and believe another. There's no coherence there, that's why on the front page we have a report saying Anonymous will cease operations while right beside it we have one saying they'll continue. Just ignore them and they'll get bored.

jdktech20105517d ago

all this publicity and irony that no one is getting credit since it's anonymous....man, I love stupid people's cries for attention; always entertaining

hakis865517d ago

I have to add that the fact that these geeks can cripple whatever they want is actually scary, IMO.

Looks like PlayStation took a hit with Marathon and is now quietly adjusting prices worldwide to recover the losses

andy8533d ago

Lets be honest raising prices doesn't do that when no one's buying it. I imagine the profit it greater selling 10 times more at a lower price

Pergele32d ago

Whatever you say buddy, let's all wear the tinfoil hats.

IceKoldKilla32d ago (Edited 32d ago )

LMFAO Your comment alone says a lot more about you than anything else. When has one game not selling 10 million copies made a company raise the prices of their console? Then Xbox would be costing $5000 by now lol. You remind of the crazy drug addicts on the street rambling on about conspiracies. xD You sure you don't need a hug, buddy?

ChunkyMonk32d ago

One game that Sony payed $200 million for. lol
Also, you sure were quick to get triggered. Maybe your the one who needs a hug?

If nothing else, we should be united against the real issue here. AI and unnecessary tariffs that are effecting all gamers.

Athlon10133d ago (Edited 33d ago )

The price increases are due to the RAM demand associated with AI and the US-Iran war. You can look to any business news website and local news to see that. Heck, even the 2026 Asus Zenbook Duo I've been eyeing has faced delays and has had a price increase of $400; that laptop has two specs. Asus is doing a staggered release with per-orders for the lower spec now and shipping in May and pre-orders for the higher spec that I'm eyeing starting in June. Basically, all computer manufactures are affected. It'll most likely start affecting smart phones too if it hasn't already. I can't remember the last time any major console maker (Nintendo, Sony, Sega, etc) increased the price of their console mid cycle outside of Microsoft just to make more profit.

S2Killinit32d ago

Its not the war. Its the RAM issue.

jznrpg32d ago

War is causing gas prices to rise. Transport of everything requires gas so the prices of those items go up as well. So it does have an impact

Athlon10132d ago (Edited 32d ago )

The blockage of the Straight of Hormuz due to the US-Iran war has affected raw components used in semi-conductor manufacturing such as bromine, aluminum, and helium. Iran had attacked the liquified natural gas (LNG) plant in Qatar which is a large producer (1/3 globally) of helium which is used in semiconductor etching. So it's the both the war and the RAM crises.

badz14933d ago

Oh no...should I get the Pro now before the price increase?

I dont think that'll ever happen. But i must say back in the day, they were definitely trying because they were more cash rich than their competitors.

CosmicTurtle46d ago

I think MS were and still are the richer company. They tried to acquire Sega back in the day (and considered doing so again more recently), they obviously bought exclusivity to Halo which was originally shown as a Mac title. I don’t think as a company MS can claim the moral high ground here. It’s a wilful lack of self awareness.

Of course Sony would try exactly the same if they had the resources, but when the PS2 dominated the industry was in a much healthier place with an abundance of great third parties.

This has been a depressing generation as far as first party decisions are concerned. The fact we are debating business plans rather than which game is better is a sad reflection of the state of things.

Darkseeker46d ago (Edited 46d ago )

There was Nintendo as well, Sony wouldn't have had a monopoly. In fact, the world would be better today if Xbox never existed in the first place. They pretty much brought all bad practices we have today. We might have gotten all of it either way, but not this early. In term of franchises, I don't think there is anything Microsoft released that would actually be missed if it didn't exist. Even Halo the world wouldn't notice if Halo didn't exist.

S2Killinit46d ago

MS was definitely a bad influence on gaming.

raWfodog46d ago

I think almost everyone will agree that a monopoly is not good for the industry. But that being said, the competition needs to be smart and strategic with their business. Simply buying up publishers and traditional third-party studios just to keep them out of the other companies reach is not a sustainable practice. That goes for all parties so don't think I'm just referring to Xbox.

I'm no business guru by any stretch of the imagination but I firmly believe that the best way to drive consumers to your software and hardware is to invest smart in your first-party studios. Give them full support and guidance in making unique, fun games that are only available to play in your ecosystem and the gamers will come.

Reaper22_46d ago (Edited 46d ago )

But first party studios aren't enough. They only make up a small portion of the industry. Without 3rd party there would be no industry for Microsoft or sony.Developing games take time and money and sometimes you gotta make moves to stay competitive.

raWfodog46d ago

Nah, I never said first-party was enough. I said it’s the ‘best way’ to drive gamers to your platform. 3rd-party is a free-for-all and there’s no guarantee that gamers will use your hardware to play the game. If you want to push your own software and/or hardware you need first-party, or at least exclusive deals with third-party studios.

SimpleDad46d ago

They Shure did a great job... 25 years later Xbox is dead.

Reaper22_46d ago

Then why be so emotional and continue to talk about it. Xbox will never die be ause it stays in so many people's head.

lodossrage46d ago

How can you even see him being "emotional" in that comment?

If anything, you're the emotional one, constantly trying to go at anyone that says anything against Microsoft. So when you call him emotional, it comes off as deflection

Elda46d ago

I own an XBSX & I can say it's becoming irrelevant out of the 3 current consoles.
