After yesterday's previews of iRacing.com, everyone has been waiting for shots of the first ever nightrace on the simulation. True to form iRacing didn't let us down!
2026 Season 2 is just around the corner in iRacing, and the developers have revealed some of the content and changes you can expect.
The Daytona 24h is considered by many the most prestigious endurance special event in iRacing's lively esports scene.
Today, iRacing provided an interesting video showcasing the content and innovations coming with 2026's Season 1 update.
Looks average I expect better for a subscription based game.
None of the best PC sim racers can match the high budget arcade or "semi-sim" racing games in terms of visuals - they all run on outdated graphics engines. Even a subscription based game like iRacing doesn't exactly give the developers Codemasters or EA sized budgets to work with, so they naturally choose to favour the simulation aspects over visuals.
However specifically in terms of accurate track details - and very detailed texture work on the newer tracks - iRacing is arguably second to none due to their laser scanning of both track surface and surroundings.
Since the graphics engine isn't exactly state of the art though, the end result tends to look a bit bland and sterile. Although some people are understandably pleased with the absence of eg. assorted more or less heavy handed post processing effects.
Edit: Some iRacing vs. real screenshots - http://www.samiad.co.uk/com...
I honestly don't care what it looks like. I'm from an era where gameplay is king. iRacing may look a little 2008ish, but in terms of driving experience and accuracy there's simply nothing that can touch it - not even the "precious" GT5.
