It's October and people are already saying that one 2008 list looks better than the other First comment named 4 games

It's gonna be the Wii again, the Wii pretty much won this generation. If you're not first you're last. So can we all just enjoy video games now?

Hmm, i am not too bothered whose year it is as long as i get good games to play on, benefit of having both, instead of just b%tchin about it go egt a job so u wont miss out on all platform titles. i am very skeptical about what to come for sony and i dont know if its possible for them to sort things out but looking forward to seeing KZ2 in action and being played live again cause the segment whichw as played live last time really did not impress. FF XIII i dont care for at all. cant wait for MGS4.

the question of winning is not because u can release 3-4 good games, its that u show other people that ur platform ahs thigns to offer that other doesnt but at the moment and i think even in 2008 PS3 will suffer to do taht because 360 seems to be doing things better in every department. lets not forget 360 have had games as good if not betetr than all thsoe 4 mentioned out already and god knows what is to come.

of course its early to call, but this has been the situation virtually from E3. I'm no fanboy and am enjoying the current crop of good titles on both 360 and PS3, but the fact is, most real heavyweight titles are known about well in advance of their launch, and theres not much in the way of heavy hitters due on the 360 for next year.
I'm sure there will still be some excellnet titles, but it does look like the balance will start to shift in the PS3's favour. Considering the stick that Sony fans have had to take from haters, they deserve to crow a bit now that the wind is just starting to turn...

I honestly have not played with my PS3 for 2 months now. I was only using it up until I quit BlockBuster (they got too greedy).Now it just sits here and collects dust. What a shame! I had such high hopes for it. I'm just not excited about Sony at the moment and don't know if I'm going to be this generation. I've been busy play good games like BioShock, Halo 3, HL Orange Box, and ET Quake Wars.

What lineup does Microsoft have in 2008 that will combat PS3's lineup? At the most 4 games. Ninja Gaiden,Alan Gotosleep, Splinter Cell. That's it. One game has the potential to be AAA that's Ninja Gaiden. The rest will suck like they have in the past.

Three games wont even chip the PS3's armor. 2008 is where PS3 starts COMPLETE DOMINATION. Like Nasim said in just a couple short months, PS3 is already outperforming 360 in Europe and Middle East not to mention Japan as well.

1-1.5 years for XBOX 360 to live. Gears of War 2 cant come fast enough to save XBOX. Epic will need to recoup development costs so look for a PS3 simultaneous released or GeOW will be timed for 360.

Once again, Sony is only competing with Sony. As great as you people claim the 360 is, IT CANT EVEN OUTSELL THE PS2! PS2 is still ousting 360 in sales this year and will continue to do so. 2008 looks like a year where Sony will lead in TWO console departments and in handheld.

I sold my 360 because it's a piece of crap. I bought a PS3 because it has all the games I want to play, plain and simple...It stupid for people to fight..PS3 fans know the ps3 is more powerful and all you have do is look at titles like RandC, Uncharted, Kz2,FF13 and see for yourself....I'm happy with the ps3 and it's game and that's all that matter...xbots are not happy with their 360 that's why their are always comparing numbers and multiplatform games and not real 1st party games like UNCHARTED which has the best graphics to date

Sony finally wins? I don't think so, lets just say Sony takes the lead back. I mean I guess since the wii has the best selling system its won and the 360 and ps3 should just stop making games? Each system has some gems, and it sure is looking the ps3 is going to finally hit its stride. Does that mean the 360 is dead and there are going to be no good games? no, less maybe. Then the 360 comes back in 2009 who knows. Ps3 is my favorite system so I want it to lead, but no one is going to "win" this generation.

End of 07 has been and is looking pretty hot so far, don't even bring up another console or exclusive this or that, its still been a pretty fun ride with Everyday Shooter, Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, Super Puzzle Fighter 2 HD, Folklore, Stardust, Skate, and upcoming R&C, PES, Uncharted, Orange Box. Unless you are a pro gamer or don't have a job, you will definitely be fine with those alone (not to mention some other random ones that will interest others).

Go compare PS3 sales to 360 sales in the same time frame. The PS3 is selling better in its first 10months on the market and yet it has to compete with two others.

Multiplatforms have always looked better on the 360.

Does it make sense that all of a sudden..'all multiplatform games are better on PS3'???....If the 360 already has a reputation of having the better version, I believe PS3 has to get a consistent list of best quality Multiplatform games. And Why would Dev make the PS3 lead platform when the attach rate is very poor compared to the 360. the 360 also has a bigger install base, and is much easier to develop.

I know I might sound like a fanboy. But the whole Multiplatform thing... that's very sad.

I think 360 and PS3 will both do well in 2008. There's no reason why one should win and the other should die a slow agonizing death. There should be competition and if 360 should die like all the PS3 fans want, then what good would the market be? You'd have a monopoly for "next gen" systems.

Anyway, everyone just grow up. Both consoles are here to stay and that's a good thing. As prices come down, people can buy both and play all the games.

While I love LittleBigPlanet and Killzone 2, I believe full proven franchises like MGS and GT are the biggest hitters for PS3.

I personally don't think it will.
But financially and from a business momentum perspective
the PS3 MUST WIN 2008!

If it doesn't, the 360 will have unbeatable market saturation, penetration and momentum and developers will make the best games for the sku which is most widely sold and easiest to develop for.

If I was SONY i'd be sweating it bigtime.

It's obvious that your just bias against the PS3 because everything you've just said makes no sense what so ever.

1. It's true that early ports on the PS3 has looked and run really bad so far, but now you are see developers moving to the PS3 first and porting to the 360. And right now every port are looking as good as the 360 version and with time will look better.

2. KILLZONE is the best looking game on any console expect for some games on PC, yes you are right the first KILLZONE was a let down compared to HALO and HALO 2. On the other hand right now every journalist and developers are giving a lot of credit to GG for how great KILLZONE 2 is right now, and so far not one negative thing has been said about the game except that the AI need improving. The game has a long way to go and is looking great, yes they have a lot to prove but I believe from now until the game comes out they will deliver on what they set out to do and that is making a AAA title.

3. LBP is another game that has caught everyone's attention including top developers in the industry, if you think this game won't be successful then your sadly mistaken. This game is the only game so far that will give gamers user friendly content to this extent, it will never get boring because your never playing the same level twise. It has unlimited potential.

4. Yes HOME maybe a rip off of second life but at least it brings something new to consoles. You may not like it but you don't speak for millions of people out there who are dying to get their hands on it. Not to mention just look how successful second life is, don't you think it will be the sameway for HOME. I guess that's why there's a rumor going around now that MS is working on their version for XBL, I guess they realized how much potential it has but you don't lol.

5. If you think MGS4 and FFXIII is no big deal then why on earth is every 360 fanboy are dying for a port to come to the 360 next year or when ever these two games are released. They will be the biggest games for 2008 and if you think otherwise then you need to get your head out of your @ss.

6. SONY has been working with TIVO for years now, if you had done your homework instead write some stupid and false comment you would know that. They have had a contract with each other for a while now, so for you to say they are "fight" with TIVO is just stupid. To freshen your memory that is the reason they came out with PSX a couple of years ago in Japan, it was a PS2+DVDR system.

8. GT5 has the best graphics for any game out right now, it's so good most gamers and people can't even tell the difference between a real life car picture or a screen shot from the game. Show me one game on the 360 that looks as good as GT5 and if you say PGR4 or FORZA 2 then your on crack. The only games that look as good or better then GT5 is KILLZONE 2 or CRYSIS.

And as for lists PS3 has the best list for 2008 as we speak, yes MS hasn't really spoken much about the games coming out for next year but SONY hasn't shown all the games that they have planned either. But like I've said think before you start posting. I'm not a fanboy of any system but I will defend them from d1ck heads like you wither they are a 360fanboy or a PS3fanboy, I'll defend them both but so far you 360 fanboys are the worst of them all.

*free online still
*best lineup of quality exclusive games
*most people who play games still own just a PS2 so brand recognition will help the PS3 especially in Europe and in Japan
*the lineup of exclusive blu-ray movies are really good because Disney will be releasing there animated movie classics

Such hostile replies from the 360 "FANATICS" over a poorly written article by a little known source. I highlight the word fanatics because I really hope these people who troll and are just generally forces of detraction are not the best and brightest in the 360 camp.
As I have said many times before, I challenge ANY of the 360 trolls to do an honest comparison of where the 360 was at the time just before it hit the one year mark in its life cycle like the PS3 is about to do. I guarantee that the 360 was not offering the same amount or level of quality IP's that the PS3 is offering right now. Sadly, I have not been taken up on this challenge, and with good reason, there is no argument to this question that will make the 360 look superior so its easier to ignore the question all together like some of you like to do.

Back to my fanatic comment, the true 360 fans are paying attention to their own news, happy with their purchases, and dealing with the shortcomings of their system in a mature manner, maybe some of you XBOX trolls should learn some restraint lest you get pwned like when the in game footage of KZ2 was revealed at E3.

And to all the PS3 fans, I know sometimes the nonsense that is spewed gets to you, but know that the nonsense is a product of concern and impatience. Most of these XBOX trolls are closet PS3 lovers who jumped on the 360 band wagon due to a lack of patience. Most people don't have money for two consoles, so the next best thing is to hope the system they don't have fails (this goes for both sides tho). I have been well served by Sony since their first console, and being a rational adult, I know that PR can be a bit spirited. If I have any sense, I would take performance over PR any day, and past experience showed me that Sony stands by its systems and MS has brought dirty tactics from its monopoly in operating systems to the video game industry and I don't like that. I also have basic reading comprehension and most of the time there is Hype, its the media that creates it. Case in point was the pegging of the first KZ as a Halo Killer, I challenge someone to find a Sony rep describing the game as that. Can't do it because it does not exist.

Another point that the trolls keep bringing up is that KZ1 was garbage, so Sony fans shouldn't expect anything different from KZ2, and I find this one of the funniest arguments of them all. They are basically saying a product or a company cannot learn from their past mistakes. Now for the slow people follow my train of logic for a moment because I am on a roll.
If Sony fans are fools for thinking that KZ2 might be a decent game because the first one fell a bit short, then 360 fans are fools for thinking that MS will support the 360 for any extended period of time based on their past treatment of the first XBOX.
If KZ1 has doomed GG from any future success (This is a false statement, see. KZ Liberation, but for the sake of argument lets act as if this is not the case), then MS's treatment of the first XBOX indicates its doomed to repeat the same injustice to its customers with the 360 (Failure rate and the denial of said failure rate until the problem became too big to ignore).
I know tomorrow this comment will be overshadowed behind a wall of PS3 and 360 fanboy nonsense, but I would really like an honest discussion of the issues and points I have brought up. Either the argument used to justify KZ2 bashing is flawed, or MS gets a pass from a fan base who makes decisions based on faith and a deep seated commitment to a corporation who treats its customers like crap.

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. Yoshida played a huge role in shaping the brand, so whatever the reason, his impact is undeniable.

If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. Andrew House and Jack Tretton did great work, but they also didn't try to fundamentally change the PlayStation DNA. Ryan oversaw the death of Japan Studio and a live service direction.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

So now there's certifiable proof that Ryan was in fact "fired", as opposed to when it was first announced that he "retired", in order to save face.

There's another guy who recently "retired" as CEO of another large gaming company, after doing a dismantling job as lead for well over a decade.

seems legit, the business man, fires the one who has ideas to move the business forward.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.
